This was a very beautiful property with a good location, and the breakfast was extremely delicious with extensive options. The rooms are very nice with thoughtful touches. It was clear they had put a lot of care into the decor, and I'm sure that for many people this will be a lovely place to stay.
The rooms are on the fourth floor, and the steep staircases only have a railing on one side, making them precarious for young children. The staircase layout is not clearly shown in the photo gallery—only one picture shows a set of stairs, and they are hard to make out in the distant background—and I would not have booked had they been accurately pictured. There is a gate at the top of the stairs, but it can be easily opened by a small child, so if you have a toddler, I would be very cautious staying here.
When we arrived, the host emphasized that in a French chambre d'hôte (bed & breakfast), owners live on site, which gives it more of a homestay feel than what international travelers might expect from a B&B. However, the profile does not make it clear that guests must walk directly through the owners' personal, open living space every time they access their rooms. Because the architecture is open and carries sound easily, there is very little privacy for a family.
Finally, our check-in was extremely uncomfortable. We had missed an arrival-time request buried in a lengthy message and mistakenly thought it was okay to inform them of our arrival time earlier that day. Despite our apologizing for the oversight, one of the hosts was openly hostile and lectured us at length. Due to her rudeness, we did not feel comfortable using any shared spaces and were eager to leave. The other host and their grandson were perfectly lovely and served a delicious breakfast, so many guests may have a pleasant stay. However, if you choose to stay here, be sure to confirm your exact arrival time well in advance to avoid a stressful check-in.
