I stayed at this adorable house for 5 weeks while I worked nearby. I always felt happy (and lucky!) to come "home" after work and sit among the trees out on the back deck. The host (Natalie) was wonderfully attentive and super helpful if I needed anything fixed or taken care of. Couldn't have asked for a nicer host. I highly recommend this place for a lovely, middle-of-the-woods respite. Here are my pros/cons broken down (with pros far outweighing any cons) Pros: Great location; incredibly comfortable beds/linens; very relaxing, quiet, pretty location; everything you would need for a pleasant stay was provided; very kind and communicative host. Cons: As I was there for 5 weeks over the summer it was HOT. If you are someone who can't manage the heat, it might be hard for you to use the upstairs bedroom (which was normally lovely.) Even with provided box fans, it was so hot at night, there were several times I needed to move downstairs so I could sleep. Also, the house is oddly lit. I would come home from work and need to do work on my laptop and the only real place to do that was at the kitchen table. There was NO overhead light. The chandelier was all candles and there were no light sources of any kind. When I had a guest over to eat, we had to bring battery powered lanterns to the table in order to see our food. I found this odd. Not a dealbreaker at all, but it was strange to be in this adorable, modern home which was so minimally lit in the kitchen/DR

My friends and I enjoyed our girls' getaway in Becket. The home is lovely, spacious, full of light and beautiful views of the trees. There was snow and we had fun snowshoeing the trails behind the house. We especially loved the fireplace and cozied up to it almost every night. It was a chilly week, but each bedroom and bathroom have their own thermostat so everyone could stay warm. The kitchen is well stocked.

The house & particularly the property were outstanding and a huge plus was a play set for our toddler grandson. The deck was fantastic overlooking the pond and surrounding forest. The house was spacious and a particularly special feature was the double jacuzzi in the master bathroom. We did feel the living room furniture was a bit shabby and could use replacing. Also there was no lighting in the indoor dining area. The location was beautiful but shopping and all activities were more than ten miles away. Although The owner did communicate promptly at the beginning and responded to two of four questions I asked by email she failed to answer several subsequent calls and messages. We overall had a good time and would consider coming back. Diane Adler

Very secluded, peaceful & quiet. You don’t hear anything but the sounds of the forest… the wind rustling through the trees is mesmerizing. Spent most of my stay on the deck looking out to the pond… coffee at 5:30 in the morning is perfect! Must stay here again 🙌😍

We rented this home as a winter getaway last month, with the promise of a fireplace, pellet stove, hot tub and beautiful views. Although the wooded view from the downstairs windows are lovely, it was bitter cold outside and we arrived to find the house thermostats set to 50 degrees. With very little wood for the fireplace, we stacked some snow covered wood from the outdoor stack, turned up the electric heat and needed to contact the owner to locate information regarding the house. The welcome letter was tucked in a drawer, out of sight, but assured us of enough pellets and wood to heat the house. Unfortunately there were only enough pellets to last about an hour, so we used that hour to try to dry the wood for the fireplace. There was no usable kindling or newspaper to start the fire. We reached out several times to notify the owner of the heating issue, and although she responded, there was no action promised or taken to bring pellets, kindling or dry wood, or to address the heating issue. Each room has a separate thermostat. After several hours, we were able to heat only the upstairs room to an acceptable temperature, but the entire downstairs of the house never stayed above 55 degrees once the pellet stove ran out of fuel. When morning came, we informed the owner that we would be leaving, since the main floor of the house was not reasonably habitable. She fairly agreed to give us a partial refund for the nights not used, however, this has not yet been provided. It has now been a month since our abbreviated stay with no resolution and no further communication about when we might expect our partial refund. We have since contacted her through VRBO, text and voice mail, with no response and still no resolution. We are laid back, seasoned travelers who recognize that there are quirks to every home, but the lack of responsiveness is unacceptable. This rental wound up being a waste of our money, our time and our vacation. At this time, we unfortunately would not recommend this home.
