About this villa rental
Welcome to our tropical paradise! An oceanfront sanctuary on the Indian Ocean, set within lush tropical gardens in a peaceful, secluded palm-fringed bay away from mass tourism. Wake to the sound of the sea. Enjoy personalised service from our dedicated staff. 2 acre private beach plot. Large sea-side terrace. Our property is spacious, with modern comforts and stylish furniture. Let our personnel (1-2 housekeepers, depending on the number of guests) pamper you. Two villas, 4 bedrooms/ 4 bathrooms, 2 seaside terraces. Sleeps 9 .
Two sea front villas on on a quiet, idyllic palm-lined beach, away from mass tourism. The spacious and airy houses sit on elevated platforms and offer great views of the Indian Ocean. Solid stone houses built with local materials (Makuti thatched roof, Eco- hardwood/ furniture & natural stone floors). We offer comfort and all modern amenities.
Let our personnel pamper you (4 full-time staff (chef for larger groups upon request).
The big villa (approx. 150 m² including 2 terraces) has 2 spacious bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. 1 large double bed (2x2,20m), 1 large double bed plus 1 single bed (2x1,40m). The villa has a spacious living room with a bar and fully equipped kitchen.
The newly built cottage (100 m²) has 2 double bedrooms (double beds 163x 195). a seaside terrace and a kitchen.
What does our house offer? The main living areas are the seafront terraces with stone benches/cushions for lounging and dining tables. Here you can sit in the shade all day and watch passing dhows on the ocean. The sunset can best be enjoyed from the rear terrace of the big villa against the backdrop of fruit and palm trees. The beach is 50 m away.
How to get to Ushongo? Via Dar es Salaam (DSM), Zanzibar/Kilimanjaro, or Mombasa, then continue by air to Machado with Auric Air or Coastal Air,or by taxi through the scenic Saadani Game park. Alternatively you can take a speedboat from Nungwi/Zanzibar.
Why Ushongo/Tanzania? Tanzania is an excellent alternative to the Kenyan south coast and Zanzibar: no mass tourism (no large hotels, no package tourists), there are only a few private houses, these are like ours ‘in the front row’ with direct beach access, largely untouched beaches, no prostitution/no harassment by vendors. Unlike many beaches in Zanzibar, you and your children can swim safely in the sea in Ushongo all year round with gentle waves.

Das Haus liegt einmalig schön an einem Traumstrand, den man fast für sich alleine hat! Das Haus ist sehr großzügig und schön entworfen, man hat viel Privatsphäre.

Wir verbrachten Mitte Juni 13 Tage in diesem einfachen,aber sehr schönen Haus inmitten eines großen Grundstücks mit direktem privaten Zugang zum Meer, und genau hier stehen 2 sehr bequeme Liegen,auf denen man ungestört lesen oder einfach die Seele baumeln lassen kann,ein wunderbarer Ort!
Ausgedehnte Strandspaziergänge sind ein Muss, obwohl je nach Strömung und Gezeiten mehr oder weniger See Grass und leider auch Plastik angeschwemmt wird, das aber vom Gärtner morgens wieder weggeräumt wurde.
Ausreichend waren auch die Ventilatoren, jedenfalls jetzt in der kühleren Jahreszeit.
Leider wird der schöne und bei Ebbe auch sehr breite Strand immer mal wieder von einheimischen Mopeds als Straße benutzt, was für uns ungewöhnlich, aber scheinbar nicht zu ändern ist. Einmal wurde auch der Strand als Rennstrecke von ausländischen Bikern missbraucht, was man vielleicht einmal mit den Verantwortlichen der beiden angrenzenden Lodges zur Sprache bringen könnte.
Alles in allem haben wir uns in Ushongo sehr wohl gefühlt und sehr gut erholt. Wer Trubel sucht ist hier am falschen Ort, dafür wird er mit einem Stück authentischen Afrika belohnt. Bedanken möchten wir uns insbesondere auch bei der Familie v. Alvensleben , die uns bei der Planung der Reise in allen Belangen bestens und immer auch sehr schnell unterstützt hat. Ebenso erhielten wir immer von Mike, dem Besitzer der angrenzenden Cottages , wertvolle Informationen vor Ort. Leider wurden an seinem Boot Reparaturen durchgeführt, so dass wir es nicht nutzen konnten.
Abschließend noch ein Tipp, machen Sie keine Geschäfte mit einem selbst ernannten Mr. Smiley, einem Bewohner des nahen Dorfes. Er vermittelt Bootsausflüge in m.E. seeuntauglichen Booten mit teilweise defekten Rettungswesten zu überhöhten und sehr volatilen Preisen.
Planen Sie also besser mit Mike, die Küche bei ihm ist übrigens äußerst schmackhaft. Auch die Ausflüge mit Mohammed haben ausnahmslos sehr gut geklappt.

Nettes Personal und top location, der Strand sollte öfter mal vom Plastik gereinigt werden (betrifft aber die gesamte Region des Strandes). Zimmer nett eingerichtet und top Terrasse

Wir (Eltern plus vier Kinder) konnten zwei Wochen an diesem wunderbaren Ort verbringen. Es ist alles einfach, aber sehr geschmackvoll gehalten.
Die Haushaltshilfen waren alle sehr hilfsbereit und lieb. Der Gärtner zeigte uns, wie man Kokusnüsse erntet, die Haushaltshilfe machte unserer vierjährigen Tochter eine lokale Frisur mit vielen Perlen, etc.
Wer Partystimmung und mehrgängige Menüs erwartet, ist hier falsch. Bestes Wetter, einsamer Strand, viel Zeit zum Lesen, etc erwartet einen hier.
Auch muss man wissen, dass das Wasser direkt am Strand eher trüb ist. Allerdings kann man mit gemieteten Booten etwas herausfahren und sensationell toll schnorcheln.
Für Internet und das nachmittägliche Kindereis gingen wir in die benachbarte Clubanlage (circa 10 Zimmer). Dort gibt es auch einen Pool, den unsere Kinder liebten.
Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war völlig entspannt und einfach. Unsere Fragen zu Haus, Land, Leuten etc. wurden mega schnell per WhatsApp beantwortet.
Kurzum: Für uns war es genau das richtige und wir fanden es wunderbar.
