The standalone building environment with spaces and front yard to sit down to welcome dusk.
Electricity interrupted multiple times a day, and being turned off every late morning.

Our group of 20+ foreign Buddhist pilgrims liked staying at Hotel The Ideal. Just be sure to have your money ready to pay once you arrive, as the manager expects payment for the check-in. Normally, payment is made upon check-out, however, I knew ahead of time that payment was required upon arrival. The parking lot area was nice, as it was able to fit our chartered bus. The rooms were alright. We ordered both dinner and breakfast from the restaurant, and the food was nice to eat. The staff was friendly. The place is located in front of a major highway, and to access other parts of Kushinagar (such as Buddhist sites or other restaurants) you would need a rickshaw or some mode of transportation to take you across (underneath) the highway.
