Located in Bridgetown, this lovely villa for $240 per night is a great option for your next vacation. 'Sunshine Paradise' is a two-story Residence with a beautiful upper Studio and a big breezy Patio where you can cook and enjoy your meals overlooking the caribbean Sea, the harbour and the golden-white Sand on Brighton Beach, one of the finest beaches on the West-Coast. You can also sit outside at the bar sipping a drink while admiring the stunning sunsets or lying in the hammock and listen to the sound of the waves. The studio is one big livingroom-bedroom with a big double closet and a second room with a door and a double drapery. The Master bedroom in the studio has a king-size four-poster bed and air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. The smaller room has a single bed and a bed-sofa The kitchen is outside on the patio always breezy and nice. If you go some steps higher up from the Patio to the platform on the roof you can have a private sunbath or sit and watch out for sailing boats and the cruise-liners to pass by. From the patio you can also step down the circle staircase to the pool and of course to the beach! It takes only five to ten minutes to reach the town for shopping, entertainment and dining in the west-coast restaurants. My wife and I stayed here over Christmas and could not be happier with our experience. The property is beautiful and located right on the beach, what a great feeling stepping onto the beach in the morning for a walk or swim! The studio was clean and everything we needed was there. Gertrud is also a super host, really helpful with everything and lots of information for us. Really can't praise Gertrud or the property enough!

We booked to stay for 2 weeks in early December, but had to leave 4 days early, because of the poor standard of cleanliness and comfort. We had to move on to another property as we were so disappointed and unhappy with the state of the apartment.
Filthy pillows, mattress and stained sheets. Ripped and dirty outside seat coverings. Old and rusty kitchen equipment. Broken shower fitting. Frayed towels. Cracked and chipped crockery. A piece of string for a washing line.
When I pointed out the 4 filthy pillows to the owner, she only replaced 2 of them and put the other 2 badly stained ones underneath the new ones.
The pictures on the website must have been taken many years ago, as they do not portray the reality of the accommodation.
On the plus side, it is ideally situated just in front of a lovely sandy beach, with a safe clear sea.

We stayed in the upper level of this beachfront home. The air conditioning works well and great television; lots of channels. Outdoor kitchen was fun..beautiful ocean view.

I have been thinking about the words I would use to describe my stay at Sunshine Paradise. It truly is a special place and the owners are tremendous.
The accommodations are wonderful and you can really feel self-sufficient. The view from the balcony to the beach was gorgeous. I loved the short direct walk to the beach.
I plan on visiting again, it is my new Bajan home. Cheers.

As they say “Heaven is a little closer in a home on the beach!” and it truly was. My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights which went by way too quickly. The owner, Gertrud and her son George, were fantastic hosts, making us feel at home but giving us enough space to do our own thing. The property is fabulous with all amenities we could ask for. The best part was being only about 50 steps from dipping our toes in the water. The beach here is not busy at all so you don’t feel crowded in like other beaches. Great snorkeling in front of the house in crystal clear blue/green water. Location is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas, yet close enough to walk or take a short drive to groceries, shopping, restaurants and activities. We rented a car for the first three days which allowed us to explore the island, see sights we wanted to see and shopping. The last half of our stay, we just kicked back and enjoyed the tranquility of the house and the beach. A perfect getaway! You must stay here on your next trip to paradise!!

This property is everything it says & even more! Gertrude & her son were very helpful and attentive to be sure it was the perfect vacation. We toured the entire island & all the beaches. The beach at Sunshine Paradise was the best!! We would definitely return.

A beautiful home on a nearly deserted beach. Easy reach to Carsile Bay, Bridgetown, Batts Rock, restaurants, supermarket and buses. The accommodation is extremely spacious and comfortable and the views are unprecedented. Gertrud our host is there to offer help and advice without any hint of intrusion. We hope to return.

We stayed for a week, but it felt like two weeks, we usually get a car and rush around trying to see everything but this holiday we just relaxed in this beautiful location Wonderful beach, Quiet, well-maintained and clean apartment. Gertrud was extremely welcoming and took us to the supermarket Highly recommended it to anyone who wants the beech almost to yourself !

We had a fantastic view, and immediate access to the beach.
The layout was great, having the kitchen in the outside balcony was a nice touch. Allowed us to enjoy the views and sound while cooking, eating, or doing some work on the dining room table. The host was very attentitave and made our stay delightful.
You do need a car at this location as it a bit removed from the action and restaurants.
A pool was advertised but its really small and not for adult swimming.
A minor note is that the towells could use some refershing.

Great stay right on a clean, quiet beach. Basic functional kitchen. Easy walking to grocery store, bus stop and Bridgetown. Our host was personable and accessible, but gave us our privacy as well. Would highly recommend!

Perfection!
One of our best vacations ever.
Gertrud and Harold, the hosts, are fantastic and very responsive to any issues. We loved it (and them) so much that we have booked another extended stay for 4 weeks.
Excellent site and accommodation! Quiet, spotless mile long beach and green flash sunsets. The large kitchen/dining table balcony area with a gorgeous ocean view also has lounging chairs, a hammock, and a hightop island seating four. We spent most of our non-beach time there. Very comfortable beds, ample closet space, large bath with shower and tub.
Bonus items not mentioned in previous reviews, beautiful gardens, laundry machines on site, rooftop sunbathing with a terrific view, outside shower. There are two restaurants on the beach within walking distance, the excellent La Cabane is often rated in top 3 for Barbados, and Rascals for low key, local flavor with a water park for kids. Grocery store is a 10 minute walk away, taxi back is $7. Gertrud will drive you there for your first marketing trip.
You absolutely can not go wrong booking Sunshine Paradise for your Barbados vacation.

The apartment is beautiful with cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors all whitewashed to give it a light beachy feeling. While lying in bed you can look out of the window to gaze at the ocean. Double doors open up onto the best feature which is the outdoor patio. Having the kitchen outside is wonderful. It is great to be able to be outside listening and looking at the ocean while making and eating meals. There are also comfortable Adirondack chairs and a great hammock for relaxing. When not on the beach this is where we spent most of our time, looking out at the amazing view! The apartment is perfect and you will want for nothing except to wish you could stay longer.
Now for the beach, which is right in your backyard. Gertrud has everything you need for the beach, lounge chairs, sand umbrella, kayak, snorkel and mask. You open the gate and take 5 steps and you are in a perfect spot. This is the best part as you don’t have to pack up and lug all of your stuff down to the beach. Its two seconds to go back up to the apartment when you need anything. You won’t need to go any farther than this spot for relaxing on the beach. There are never any crowds, the beach is always quiet. The sunsets every night are amazing!

A short walk to the left brings you to the pier and an outdoor restaurant. To the right is a much prettier and longer walk which also leads to a great outdoor restaurant called La Cabane, tables are right on the beach and the food and drinks are amazing! We headed out with just our bathing suits and a credit card, no shoes or towels and ended up there for a great lunch more than once. It’s a wonderful way to spend the afternoon strolling and swimming down the beach and stopping for lunch.
It was the perfect vacation, so relaxing and fun. We will continue to come back again and again. You will not find a more perfect place! I highly recommend this apartment and the wonderful hosts!

A place in heaven....
Mesmerising view of the Caribbean Sea whilst drinking coffee and eating breakfast sat in the open air kitchen area. Fantastic comfortable bed, lots of space and lots of breeze. A new place but it felt like home. Thank you Gertrud and Harold for the most magnificent time. I wish we could've stayed longer. Best place we've ever been to for sure.

We spent most of our time on this deck. We also really enjoyed walking down the beach and swimming right outside the gate. Very peaceful.

As others have said a car is really useful and allows you to get around. We drove into Bridgetown for bbq chicken (twice as it was so good) as well as going out twice and cooking at the apartment.

The location is ideal as a basecamp for day trips around the island or just to stay and relax on the wonderful beach. Bridgetown is only a 5-10 minute drive, and Holetown is about 15 minutes. A grocery store is within walking distance if you prefer to just stay at the villa. The owner - Gertrud - is a wonderful lady who made our stay all the more enjoyable by providing very useful information about everything from where to buy groceries to which sites to visit. What a joy to leave a blizzard in the US to arrive at "Sunshine Paradise." The accommodations were perfect and exactly what we were looking for - quiet, peaceful, relaxing. The studio apartment was very roomy and comfortable, especially the king size bed. The large outdoor kitchen and balcony were the perfect location for enjoying the view of the Sea in the morning and the quiet breeze in the evening. Just a short walk for groceries so we could enjoy many of our meals right from our own kitchen. The owner was so helpful in providing us directions on how to get around to some of the best locations on the island. Transportation on the local buses was very convenient to get to all coasts and certainly gave you a flavor of the local culture. Each coast offering a different island personality.The restaurants on the island were excellent, great food and service while taking advantage of the beautiful oceanfront views. We would definitely recommend this location. It provides you with quiet solitude, but also the opportunity to travel to other areas for more action and entertainment. We would also recommend the daily catamaran tours with Silver Moon and Tiami. They provided a great tour along the West Coast and an opportunity to snorkel with the turtles. Also, a short walk up the beach to Weiser's Beach Bar. Good food and drinks.

The studio apartment was very roomy and comfortable, especially the king size bed. We had a unforgettable stay at Sunshine Paradise. Every morning and evening we enjoyed the wonderfull view over the garden and the beach at the Veranda. We also enjoyed cooking at the outdoor kitchen. For Relaxing we did long walks on the beach or took the Kajak. Gertrud, the owner is the best and most helpful host! Thanks a lot for all your hospitality! Sunshine Paradise is perfect located for all activitys around the Island. We took a bus to see the wonderfull places. Even the bus tour was really funny. The Mount gay rum distillary, where we did a leadership tour, is worth seeing and only 10 minutes to walk. We hope to come back again soon ...

The name says it all - Paradise it most certainly is and the description and photos hardly do it justice. My husband and I had a totally amazing and relaxing break in this wonderful location. The accommodation is outstanding and Gertrud, the owner, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful to us. I had long planned a visit to the island to check out my family history as my great grandmother and grandfather born here and Gertrud was on hand so many times to run us about in her car and to give advice on where I should look, and in fact I was able to find out a lot of information. Thank you so much for that Gertrud. The apartment was fabulous - we couldn't have been more comfortable and we did an awful lot of lounging about looking out over the sea and sampling the local rum! It was very windy and I was a bit nervous of getting blown out to sea when we used the canoe but it was great fun and all part of a marvellous holiday. We did hire a car for 3 days so we could see the rest of the island and found that the apartment was ideally situated for this. Altogether a fabulous break and I would recommend this property to anyone, not just friends or relatives.

Truly a Sunshine Paradise
We had a wonderful relaxing time at Sunshine Paradise. It is a beautiful place with beautiful gardens right on the water. It was so pleasant to wake up in the mornings and walk out to the veranda and see the sea. One of our favorite things to do was to walk the beach every morning. When we arrived on Saturday Gertrud took us to the grocery store so we were able to buy food for our visit. Since it was our first visit to Barbados we rented a car and explored the island, visiting different beaches, walked through a tropical rain forest and saw the beautiful North Point. Barbados is truly a beautiful Island and the people are very friendly. The property was very nicely decorated, clean and we would certainly recommend this place.

Two of my sisters and I spent a wonderful 10 nights here. The apartment is just as described and pictured! Gertrud gave great directions for the taxi driver, so no difficulty finding the place. Gertrud offered to take us to get groceries the first morning, but an easy walk to the store for us. How convenient to have our own breakfast and lunch, so only needed to buy evening meals daily, and we found that 2 meals were sufficient for the three of us....more money to enjoy the sites! We literally had no problem walking up and down the beach the first 3 days. A lovely art studio within walking distance, and the best beach restaurant and bar, Weisers on the Bay, and easy walk every evening. We did rent a car for 3 days to explore the island, but bus within walking distance, and taxis reasonably priced. NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL about this rental. If I ever get to Barbados again, I will definitely stay here. Gertrud gave us fresh coconuts and she even built a fire on her private beach last evening, and we introduced her to S'mores! We visited the Animal Flower Caves, Oistins, Welchman Hall Gully, a great art studio in Speightstown, drove to the East Coast...and my favorite, the Zipline. Actually wish we'd had the car longer to visit some pottery places, but driving is not for the faint of heart for those of us used to driving on the right side of the road. Gertrud was a wealth of knowledge of things to see and do, and I don't know when I have ever been so relaxed on a vacation! Thank you, Gerturd, and I hope to see you again some day!

Two of my sisters and I spent a wonderful 10 nights here. The apartment is just as described and pictured! Gertrud gave great directions for the taxi driver, so no difficulty finding the place. Gertrud offered to take us to get groceries the first morning, but an easy walk to the store for us. How convenient to have our own breakfast and lunch, so only needed to buy evening meals daily, and we found that 2 meals were sufficient for the three of us....more money to enjoy the sites! This was our first experience with VRBO and we were delighted. Gertrud was a knowledgable and genial owner. Her hospitality included introducing us to the joys of breadfruit roasted in the firepit on the beach under the stars. Heavenly. The listing description and photos were accurate but could never capture the magic of the place. Brighton Beach is right outside the gate - wonderful beach for swimming, walking, people watching and connecting with the friendly and polite Bajans (I kept thinking how sad it is that we have lost those niceties in urban Canada). We ate in for about half of our meals - the kitchen is basic but servicable. Gertrud drove us to the new grocery store up the hill to stock up on food and Bajan rum. We found 2 great restaurants within walking distance. We recommend renting a car and touring the island. The villages are closer together than it looks on the map and we had many adventures getting lost. We loved Speightstown (up island about 25 minutes) -a fishing village with lots of character and great for purchasing local produce. One of the best parts of each day was after dinner when we would sit up on the rooftop deck - watching the sun set, the cruise ships come in and out and listening to the whistling frogs and mourning doves.
