Located in Guilford, this charming house for $358 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Charming seaside home, a minute's walk from association beach. Unique, Nantucket-style shingled cottage. Fantastic location. Newly remodeled with plenty of modern amenities, but comfortable and unfussy. Open, bright & airy, with a spacious living room for fun and hanging out. Ample space to spread out. 2 1/2 bedrooms, 2 full baths (one just redone with beautiful tiled shower); outdoor shower. New washer/dryer, stove, dishwasher and stainless large fridge. EATING Two decks, perfect for outside meals and cocktails. Inside, there’s a long farmhouse table and additional breakfast table in the kitchen nook. Completely stocked, ready-to-cook-in kitchen. Famous Bishop's Orchards Farm Market and Winery in Guilford has amazing produce and more. The wonderful Medlyn Farmstand and other farm-to-table markets are nearby. SLEEPING ETC. --Master Bedroom: Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves on the Long Island Sound. --Bedroom 2: 2 adjoining singles that can function as a queen as well. --Bedroom 3: Cozy and whimsical with built-in bunk beds. A kid pleaser. --Two full, remodeled baths, one with tub, another with new custom-tiled shower etc. (Towels and and linens provided.) —Hammock :) LOCATION It's an easy drive to the picturesque village of Guilford, with its stunning town green and colonial homes, including the oldest stone house in New England (1638). Farmers' markets, fabulous coffee shop (Cilantro’s), shops, lovely seafood restaurants (Lenny’s in Branford is a favorite) and a local lobster pound. Near beach towns like Madison and Branford. (The tiny shore town of Stony Creek is really charming, is about a 10 minute drive, and has a sweet ice cream shop and daily tours of the Thimble Islands.) Yale University and New Haven are close. Convenient transport (Metro North or Amtrak to New Haven; and the Shoreline East to Guilford). 20-25 minutes to New Haven. It's about 2 1/2 hours from NY depending on traffic, an hour and a half from Providence and Newport, and roughly 4 hours to Boston. Ample space for off-street parking (which is rare in the neighborhood). AMENITIES Wood-burning Fireplace. Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher. Air Conditioning in main room and both bedrooms. WiFi, TV. Lots of books for adults and kids, plus board games and a relaxing hammock out back in the yard. ACTIVITIES: Plenty to do in the surrounding area, from hiking to tennis to antiquing and spa-ing. Boat tours of Stony Creek and the Thimble Islands just 10 minutes away. The wonderful R Julia bookstore and the Hammonnasset State beach are in next-door Madison, plus ice cream stands, lobster shacks etc etc—very ye olde New England. Easy push-button lock entry. (Will provide code pre-arrival plus all info in the ‘house book’ in kitchen and basics listed on fridge.)

We spent the month of August in this charming house and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was immaculately clean, with comfortable beds and seating arrangements, and all the necessary cooking staples. The grandchildren especially enjoyed combing the beach across the street for little crabs and seashells. There is plenty to do in Guilford and the adjacent towns and beaches. The hostess, Laura, was very accommodating when we dithered about dates! We will certainly come again. Thanks for a great stay.

The cottage is lovely, clean and more than adequately stocked with everything you need. The local beach was a great place to spend the day and the upper deck provides amazing views. There was more than enough room for our family of 4. We were able to easily make meals with the fully stocked kitchen. The a/c has trouble reaching the bunk room so it can be a bit warm. This is a place we would definitely stay again.

Our family rented this beautiful house for a week stay and completely enjoyed our time there. We walked, kayaked, and soaked in the views, the flowers, and abundant wildlife. So serene! We would love to return!

This home was wonderfully appointed with all amenities, had a warm and happy, relaxed feel, and just minutes from the beautiful, quaint beach. The private cove community is delightful and peaceful and so picturesque! We will definitely return.

We had a wonderful week long stay in this lovely cottage. It was great staying right here in CT and still feeling like we had a great vacation...and could actually drive home in under 2 hours (with traffic). This home is so charming....and so well stocked! So often we've stayed at VRBO places where we have to buy salt and pepper, condiments, clear wrap, etc. Not here! The home was also very comfortable and fully cooled by the window a/c units. We can't wait to go back!

Our family just stayed here for a week. We found the house absolutely charming and would definitely stay here again. Indian Cove, the small community that the house is in, was very relaxing. My 13 year old son kayaked every day and enjoyed jumping off the diving board at high tide (there is a diving board attached to the rocks that jut out into the cove). We are from Los Angeles so the New England town of Guilford felt like another world to us. The house had everything we needed and more. Tons of movie DVDs and Netflix. Bikes and beach chairs. Books and games. The beach is right across the street, so easy to go back and forth. The beach itself is small and shelly, but calm and protected— perfect for us to swim and nap listening to the gentle waves. The owner was kind and helpful. She set up the house so guests feel welcome and comfortable. Two of the bedrooms and the living room have AC. The tiny bunk room does not, but my daughter loved staying in there — feels like a cozy hideaway. Highly recommend if you are in need of a quiet seaside getaway.

We were looking for a seaside cottage for a weekend stay for our family of four. The cottage is lovely, sweet and beautiful. For our entire stay, it was just very peaceful, calm and tranquil. Everything in and out of the house was layout just as seen in the photos. The entire neighbourhood is very safe, clean and quiet. People are very friendly and kind. We spent some time at the beach and used the upper deck of the house to observe the stars at night. The hammock in the backyard was just an example of the detailed attention paid to the house. Apart from the area, there are many sights and towns nearby that we spent time in, examples being Thimble islands, Yale University and Mystic. Even with a busy itinerary and running around along the I95 during the day, this cottage house cleansed my mind and restored my spirit. As well, the property manager is very responsive. She delivers high-quality goods and services in the preparation of our stay. We thank her very much for her hospitality.

You can bike to downtown Guilford in about 10 minutes, where there are a couple of bars and lots of cute shops. New Haven is a 20- or 30-minute drive, depending on traffic.
Indian Cove is a delightful neighborhood of mostly older homes right on Long Island Sound. It's got a private beach that's almost like a swimming hole -- large rock formations shelter the beach from waves, and there's a floating platform and even a diving board. At low tide hermit crabs congregate by the hundreds or thousands in the shallows, which thrilled my toddler son.
The only minor annoyance was the construction site next door, where a house is being gutted and renovated. Fortunately construction was proceeding so slowly that we heard like one power tool in our entire stay. There was also a surprising amount of traffic, including large trucks, on the road in front of the house. It wasn't overwhelming -- just a reminder that this is a residential neighborhood, not an isolated beach house.

Our family of 6 stayed in this lovely "cottage" (its really a house that feels so New England-shoreline) for 10 days. It's big enough for a large family, with plenty of sleep room, and overall plenty of room outside too for cookouts (on large deck), play, etc. Its right across the street from the private beach, the convenience was magnificent. The house comes with kayaks and bikes, our family used the bikes every day.....enjoy the quiet and exercise-friendly neighborhood - I walked every morning and explored the beautiful shoreline....only item to mention is that the neighborhood is a rather quiet one, so it's not a place to throw a large family party nor host a play date for your kids....about 2 mile walk into center of Guilford, really another gem to experience....enjoy, I give it a 4.5 star overall......
