The villa has a lot going for it, but it feels unloved, little things let it down, only 2 usable sun loungers, a further 2 (unusable) dumped on the wall, the top patio furnishings stained and worn, 2 windows upstairs with odd curtains, a few screws to hold them in place would stop the pole moving and the end falling off, the garden has lots of debris laying around, lots of weeds out the front. It did come as a very big surprise that no cleaning took place for our 3 week stay, no spare sheets or towels, so you had to wash them early, lay them out somewhere and dry them that day, very strange set up. On the positive note the pool area is great, the chairs and furniture on the pool level are comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, watching the sunset with a cold beer is the perfect end to the day.

We had a lovely week at the villa. We spent a lot of the time in the pool and relaxing. As others have said, the views of the surrounding coast are stunning. There are supermarkets and tavernas a 15minute walk away. Thanks for a great week!

We spent a month at this villa with our two daughters whom were doing online schooling and we felt the layout worked well and everyone had their own space. We did lots of cooking and the sunroom off the living room was a nice space for meals. The outdoor space is great and we really enjoyed using the grill and outdoor kitchen. The views and sunsets are amazing and we often walked to Plaka to the restaurants and grocery store. It’s also a beautiful place for jogging. We were there a bit early in the season and the pool was pretty cold but we all went for dips anyways and enjoyed the Sun loungers. It’s a nice home base to check out the area!

Villa Ilios provided an excellent location for our 2 week family holiday in Crete. We must have stayed in around 20+ villas in various countries and this may be the best views we have ever had. The upstairs balcony with comfortable seating, glass paneling and views over Souda Bay. The sunset, wow. The Villa has most things you need to provide you with a comfortable stay. Wifi, had no complaints from the kids, so that's a bonus. Ground level there are two double bed rooms both with access to the pool, and a 3rd room with 2 singles (all bedrooms with air conditioning). No ensuite, but large shared bathroom with bath and shower. Living and Kitchen area upstairs with a toilet ( with shower) also on that floor. Several balconies. Pool Area, there are plenty of seating and outside dining areas. Outside kitchen with bbq complete with a great cooling fridge for water and beers ( saving trips upstairs). The pool itself was well maintained and clean. There are 4 x sun beds but no poolside umbrellas, so beds got little use due to no shade from that August sun. Jason did find a small beach umbrella in the house to use for one bed. Another small disappointment was no mid week cleaning was provided, even though we have really payed 2 x 1 week costs. That's a first in all villas we have stayed. A washing machine is provided though to wash towels etc. The area is quiet and pretty, although you are within a 15 min walk of several restaurants and small supermarkets, I would recommend a car during the stay at this Villa. It's a dirt track to the 4 private villas of which Ilios is one. We travelled to many beaches in the area from 5 mins to 45 mins, This area really impressed us. Chania ancient city is a must see and the markets too, again 45 mins drive and lots of free parking. I would recommend this Villa for any family holiday in this beautiful area of crete. Already missing those sun sets.

We had the most wonderful family vacation in this lovely villa! Everything went flawlessly, we met Sandra and Jason in Plaka, they showed us the way to the place. We loved the friendliness of the locals, the excellent dinners (with free Raki!)at Elpis and other restaurants, the beaches and the amazing sunsets. We will be back!

Lovely villa in a great location. Can walk to local shops and restaurants in 25 minutes but anything else requires a car. Good pool and BBQ area. The views across the bay and towards the white mountains are a lot better than the photos suggest. Well equipped kitchen for home catering ( coffee machine was the only small glitch) good showers and comfortable beds.

Situated just outside Plaka alongside 3 other villas with fantastic views of Souda from the upstairs terrace/dining area. Outside is an extremely clean and well kept pool area and garden and a pagola with table and chairs for using the portable Weber bbq. Ground floor comprises bathroom with shower bath toilet and washing machine, two double bedrooms and one single bedroom (no twin room) all with limited sea views. A terrace with table and chairs surrounds the two double bedrooms and looks onto the pool and sea. Wooden stairs lead to the upstairs lounge/kitchen area and toilet/shower room. AMAZING VIEWS out of every window. There is a small balcony at the back which gets the morning sun. There is a huge terrace with sofa and dining table to the front which overlooks plaka and Souda. The sun moves onto the front at about 11am, perfect for subathing! We visit Chania many times and these are by far the best sunsets we have witnessed from this villa. Everything you could want was available - Microwave tv internet fridge freezer utensils- and Dennis and Angela provided anything that wasn't (other than hair dryer); such a lovely hard working couple. There is satellite internet and wifi but it was hit and miss and didnt work after 3 days which was a shame as we needed it for work, but plenty of local cafes have free wifi anyway. We had a fantastic time and will most definitely return. The only real things to let it down was that some of the outdoor furniture and woodwork was in need of some tlc. Dont hesitate to book!

The location was fantastic, close to Chania, Rethimon,,. The swimming pool, terrases , garden and aroundings very pleasant. Everything was in perfect order and new. The WIFI and Air Cond. working perfectly. We recomend the place ! no doubt about it. Perfect for families with children. Nice beaches around. The very little one was georgious. 2. Pour notre 2em séjour en Crête ,nous avons choisi la location d'une maison plutôt que l'hôtel.Dès l'accueil par les très sympathiques et dévoués Angéla et Dennis à une heure tardive(23h) j'avoue que nous avons été totalement sous le charme de la villa Ilios qui est en réalité bien plus splendide que les photos ne le laissaient apparaître;spacieuse (nous étions 6 personnes) très propre,bien agencée et équipée ,une belle piscine entourée de bougainvilliers,oliviers,lauriers,rosiers et autres plantes endémiques ;et surtout ce calme lors des petits déjeuners sur la terrasse de l'étage,avec cette vue imprenable sur la baie de Souda et les montagnes blanches,ou le coucher de soleil sur cette même baie.La situation géographique est idéale et nous a permit de visiter l'ouest et une partie du sud de l'ile sans faire de trop grands trajets(le plus long 90km pour aller sur la plage d'Elafonisi à la pointe sud ouest);à 2km la plage du très joli village d'Almyrida ,à 500m le village de Plakas et ses excellentes tavernes . Bref que du bonheur !et une villa que nous conseillons à tous ceux qui souhaite découvrir ou revenir en Crête!
