About this apartment rental
Our home is a spacious studio apartment with a loft offering a beautiful view of the Fosso Reale. The apartment is furnished in a contemporary style and is fully equipped. It can accommodate up to 4 people: in the living area, in addition to the kitchenette, there is a queen-size sofa bed, and in the spacious loft there is a double bed and a sofa. The apartment is located on the 3rd and top floor and is bright and airy; there is no elevator. Air conditioning and heating ensure optimal temperatures year-round. Located in the center of Livorno, the apartment is near the “La Venezià” neighborhood, a charming network of canals winding around the Medici-era Fortezza Nuova, full of bars and restaurants, and very lively in the evenings. The harbor and the sea are about one kilometer away, the beaches about three kilometers, and the beautiful Calafuria cliffs about 10 kilometers. Just a short walk from the apartment, you’ll find public transportation to reach these destinations conveniently. Livorno is the ideal base for your visit to Tuscany: Lucca, Pisa, and Florence are all easily accessible in less than an hour by car or, if you prefer, by train. The train station is about one kilometer away. Around Livorno, in the rolling Tuscan countryside, you can visit many picturesque villages and sample the region’s traditional specialties. Livorno is the least touristy of the Tuscan cities and, as a result, has retained much of its authentic, down-to-earth charm. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The roof is sloped, and part of the loft has a ceiling height lower than a person’s height. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, and there is no elevator.

We were late getting to Livorno due to a cascade of delays on our journey from the US. We kept in touch with our hosts and they were there waiting for us to assist us with parking and getting luggage up the three flights. They were helpful with local information. It was quite warm during our stay and we struggled to get the air conditioning to work properly, but partway through the visit. We found a fan tucked at the bottom of the stairs, and that helped to circulate the air up to the loft. It was wonderful to be so close to the Mercado Central we enjoyed three days of exploring the local area. The view over the canal was to die for.

More than a room with a good view!
My wife and I have now spent a full month here in Alessandra and Paolo's apartment, so you might say we're experts. I've rented a number of flats over the years for work trips in Italy, and this is by far the most pleasant, comfortable, and well-appointed pad I've had in this price bracket. The bathroom, bedroom loft (low cieling up there, but you'll probably like the ambiance just below the roof), and large living room/kitchen area are perfect for a pied-a-terre, for one weekend or for four weeks. Everyone can appreciate how nice it is to find essentially unlimited hot water in the heater, too! With a nice gas range, oven (so rare!!), and even a dishwasher, I found putting together a meal, or entertaining a guest we had for a few days, completely feasible.
To top it all off, Alessandra was a fantastic host, and she answered all of our texts very promptly during our stay. A great location for eateries and shopping around the old city core, and even walkable to the train station.
If you're considering a stay here, just book it - you won't be disappointed.
