Herriot's

The location was great, rooms very clean, lovely hearty breakfast with lots of choice. The hosts were friendly, lovely people.

Can’t fault anything.

Welcoming hospitality provided by couple who know the area well and run a first class service. Lots of of good advice and great breakfast.

Leaving

The place looked like it had been recently renovated. Everywhere was very clean and smart. The bed was really comfortable and felt like new. The hotel is right in the centre of town, so very convenient.

We arrived a little early by bicycle and we were greeted in such a rude manor. I apologised for being early and said that we could come back later. We were told that we were too early and that anyway there was nowhere to leave our bicycles and that we should have emailed to let them know about the bicycles. He implied that we were just an inconvenience to him. My wife got very upset and we left to think about our options. Unfortunately we had already paid the full amount and as it was school holidays we wouldn't have got a room elsewhere in town. We ended up having to leave our bikes locked to railings at the front of the hotel. The owner did soften then and offered us a couple of locks of his own.

Having told the owner we had driven for 6 hours and had to drive 7 the next day to attend a (late finishing) wedding nearby requested a slightly later breakfast outside the 45 minute window that ended at 9. However we called at 9.10 to see if we could still get breakfast and were answered with a flat no, even though no one else was in the B&B and those that had been had had their breakfast. Thought a bit of flexibility would have worked, having paid for breakfast. Left to drive home to Brighton having not eaten with all local places not serving food until midday.
