Great value stay in beautiful Chiang Dao. I extended my stay twice. It's cool to walk up to the property with the huge mountain in the distance! The owner is super helpful, and it's really convenient to rent a motorbike from her. The location is ideal if you want to stay in town on a budget and motorbike to the natural and cultural attractions. *Note: you NEED a car or motorbike to really explore Chiang Dao AT ALL.* The room and facilities aren't super updated, but to have a private room for about the price of a hostel bunk, it's great. I will stay here again because I like to be able to easily walk to food, snacks, laundry, etc. and then set out on adventures. Did I mention the owner is super helpful? She gave me a ride to the bus station, noticed the bus to Chiang Mai was leaving, and drove after the bus so I could get on without waiting for the next one!
As noted by others, the walls are a little thin. So one night I could hear loud talking in the neighboring room.

In our booking, we specified an evening arrival time. However, when we arrived at the reception, no one was there. We waited for about 15 minutes. Since we didn't have a local SIM card and no way to make calls, we noticed the Wi-Fi information on the desk, connected, and called the number listed on Booking — but no one answered. Then we called the number on a promotional flag near the hotel advertising bike rentals. A woman answered and said someone would come shortly.
A young man arrived, but he was on the phone with someone the whole time. He didn't speak to us, just led us to the room and handed over the keys. We asked about parking, and he showed us where to park the car, but he didn't explain whether we would be able to retrieve it in the morning or if we would need to find someone from the staff to open the gate. We didn't feel comfortable.

the location was great, right next to the thursday night market. rooms were clean, beds were comfy, fridge, facilities were nice
We booked a “triple” which we assumed would be for three people, but upon arriving we were told we would be charged extra for having a third person in our TRIPLE room.
We thought that was a bit unreasonable but we were okay with paying if we had to. The remainder of our stay there was never any staff and therefore we were unable to pay. We checked out early in the morning and once again there was no at reception, even though they said reception opened at 8:00. We waited for quite a while and when no one came we left without paying the extra charge. Later that morning the host messaged and called us telling us that we had to pay. We told her that we had tried to but there had been no one there to pay, she got quite mad and even sent us security camera footage, although I have no idea what she was trying to prove since it showed us waiting at reception for nearly an hour.
Later when we went to the bus station to leave we were met by a worker who had the women from the hotel on facetime. We were then denied from buying our bus tickets until the women showed up at the bus station and demanded that we pay. VERY unprofessional behaviour and service from this hotel.
