This historic, older home is located in one of the safest neighborhoods in Louisville has recently been renovated down to the studs, everything is new! Including the plumbing and electric. The original hard wood floors and crown molding have been saved and refurbished as well. I love sitting in the living room and admiring the original stained glass windows which I often did when we were setting up this home. :) Bought exclusively with a vacation rental in mind, we used collected art of my friend & the owner Shelly and my own to add a personal touch. And my friend Robbie, a gifted interior designer, added his expertise in the thoughtful furniture placement and selection. This is one of my favorite vacation rentals that I manage, because of its close proximity to Louisville's restaurant row, and its central location to everything fun that the Ville has to offer! Such a charming property. We came as a group of moms and daughters for a volleyball tournament. It was in a safe neighborhood and in a good central location with plenty of things to do. James was a great host, responsive and accommodating. We arrived at a welcoming home with snacks, music and lights on ready for us to have an enjoyable, comfortable weekend. We would definitely stay here again if the need arises!

A nicely appointed comfortable house in a lovely neighborhood close to everything.

Interaction with owner was great. The location and parking were easy and good for us walking to breakfast place every morning. Easy Uber to fairgrounds. Would have preferred two keys instead of one as we had two groups staying but didn’t think to ask about it. The first floor bath is pretty small- and with two total bathrooms for 6 of us who weren’t all related it was a bit cozy. The other bath is upstairs but is larger and updated. House was well stocked and set up was very thoughtful for check in. Shared living spaces are nicely appointed. House was very quiet for sleeping and street is quiet and feels safe. Close neighbors had what sounded like a drum or band practice on Sunday morning but it was very short lived. They also have dogs but honestly we couldn’t hear them unless we were outside right next to their open windows. Thanks for a great music festival stay.

We had a great stay in Louisville at the Highlands Hideaway. This house was perfect for our family and had lots of room. It was well stocked from the owner which is typically uncommon. It was very clean as well. Parking was easy in the rear of the home. It is within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. I highly recommend and would stay here again if in Louisville.

Our stay was much better than trying to get adjoining rooms at a hotel - at about the same price. Everything was clean and comfortable, and there are lots of close-by restaurants.

Our stay in Louisville was a huge success thanks to our home base at the Highlands Hideaway! James, our host, made sure we didn't have any issues with checking in, supplied us with a lengthy list of restaurant recommendations, and quickly responded to any questions we had. He was a pleasure to work with.
The home was comfortable and well stocked with linens, towels, paper products, kitchen cookware, and staples such as salt, pepper, oil, ziplock bags, tin foil, etc. We were literally blocks from dozens of restaurants and shops on Restaurant Row. A Kroger grocery store is located within one mile of the home.
Downtown Louisville, including many distilleries, museums, and the pedestrian bridge was less than a 15 minute car/Uber ride. Also, about 15-20 minutes away from the airport.
If you are a cat lover you must go to Purrfect Day Cat Cafe to get your kitten fix while traveling. It's a 10 minute walk from the house.
Thank you, James! We had a fantastic time visiting your city and made many memories while we were there!

This is a great place to stay. The location is fabulous! You can get anywhere in Louisville in minutes. Parks , Coffee shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance on beautiful tree lined streets. The alleyway parking is a huge plus. The home is lovely with very comfortable furniture and plenty of supplies! One of few places I have stayed where there was enough of everything we needed. If you stay in a lot of VRBO properties then you will understand when I say this property has no quirks! I plan to stay at the same location on our next trip.

Older house, but very nice. Convenient location for restaurants by foot and short drives to downtown.
We are a gruop of old retired Navy friends.

A friend's retirement brought us to Louisville. There were 4 of us staying in the rental--a husband and wife that stayed upstairs and 2 friends in the downstairs bedroom sharing the bath. The house is delightful for just hanging out at night. We were within walking distance to several restaurants and there were 2 parking spaces for us. The kitchen is friendly although we did not cook during our stay. Overall it was great for what we needed for the visit--clean, good spaces, friendly host, and easy!

Everything you could possibly need is here and the location is walking distance from wonderful restaurants and fun shopping. Coffee, tea, creamer, and even a snack basket are unexpected welcome perks. The host has thought of everything including face wipes, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There are magazines and books to peruse when you are relaxing in this beautifully decorated home. The host is very responsive and obviously cares about you and your stay - we loved the personalized message on the welcome board in the kitchen! We’ll be back! ❤️

We had a wonderful stay and James couldn't have been more helpful sending us lists of things to do and places to eat. The photos don't do the house justice. The second you walk in you feel the warmth. We will totally stay here again when we return.

We took our son & his roommate on the bourbon trail. This house was a perfect location to the distilleries we toured. It was also within walking distance to some great restaurants & bars. The house was the perfect size for our group. We could have added 5 more! The house was very clean & the owner was accessible for any issues we had. We had no issues so it was perfect! Thank you for your hospitality!

Property was exactly as described. Large basket of snacks greeted us on the island as well as a fridge stocked with waters, 2 varieties of coffee makers(drip and pods) and coffee for both. All beds were comfortable and plenty of towels and extra blankets. If needed. Nice touch with mints by each bed. Parking in the alley was great with the ramp to roll suitcases up to the door. Location is excellent, only one block to Bardstown Road and easy to get to downtown or anywhere In Louisville you may choose to visit. Living room with stained glass windows and round table in dining room were perfect for the four of us to have conversations, play games and eat breakfast. Many nice restaurants so close to this property. Excellent restaurant just one block away at corner of Steven’s and Bardstown Rd Property manager very quick to reply to any question. We all give this property an A+, highly recommend

This property was one of the best I have stayed in from vrbo. It is good for a small group, but oh so comfortable and well stocked. Often you have to go buy supplies but this was so well stocked we didn't need anything. We had four people for 3 bedrooms and that was plenty of room. The neighborhood is nice with quaint homes and the reference to a close walk to restaurant row is very accurate. We had no trouble finding dinner places and owner can provide you with lists of restaurants that are good. And there is parking for 2 cars in the back which is a premium with tight parking on the street.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Louisville and our evenings catching up were much more fun because we found such a nice house to stay in. Highly recommended!
