This was truly a vacation paradise in a lush, tropical setting !!! The unique house, the pool and the grounds were even better than we expected!! This lovely property provided our family various beautiful settings for meals and socializing.
Our hosts were exceptional. They were most communicative and helpful prior to our trip. Upon arrival, they gave us a gracious greeting and a wonderful tour. It was most generous and unexpected that they left some snacks and food supplies, which made our arrival so much easier. Their attention to that and other details (such as providing umbrellas) was greatly appreciated.
Our stay here was immensely enjoyable and totally memorable.

La Casa del Mango was an amazing VRBO! It was beautiful, clean, with a well stocked kitchen, and a private swimming pool. The landscaping was colorful and lush. The top floor observation deck was a great feature. Could not ask for better hosts than Martin and Natacha. They were so pleasant and friendly, and available to answer any questions we had. A top notch, 5 star rating!! We definitely will be back, and recommend this VRBO to anyone looking for the perfect place to stay in Cahuita, Costa Rica!!!!

La Casa del Mango was an amazing VRBO! It was beautiful, clean, with a well stocked kitchen, and a private swimming pool. The landscaping was colorful and lush. We traveled to the Casa del Mango as a group of four friends for four nights and the house was perfect for us. There was PLENTY of room and each had our own room, bathroom and hammock! Not only was the house spotless upon arrival but the cleaners came half-way through our stay.
Natacha and Martin were the the most wonderful hosts! They were very friendly and attentive to our needs! The house (especially the kitchen) was well stocked with everything we could possibly need! We arrived late on our first night so it was amazing to wake up to a fully stocked refrigerator!
The outdoor area was amazing! We enjoyed sitting on the rooftop and searching for wildlife. We were able to see sloths and howler monkeys in the trees. The outdoor area was magnificent! We spent two full days just hanging out at the pool and around the house!
Of all the vacation rentals I have stayed in, this was by far my best experience!
Will definitely be back!

Our stay at Casa del Mango and the sweet town of Cahuita could not have been more perfect! Natacha and Martin are gracious and attentive hosts, always ready to assist in whatever ways they could to make our vacation dreams come true. The house is spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was perfect for our family of 6 adults….each mini-suite has its own bathroom and balcony with sitting space and a hammock, so there is plenty of area for retreat for private time. But our favorite hang-out area was the pool. It’s large, clean, and gorgeous, perfect for family fun. And so relaxing, surrounded by beautiful tropical plants, flowers, and trees, which play host to an amazing variety of wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, frogs, and even a crazy anteater! We were very entertained with spotting and watching these critters from the comfort of the pool or from the rooftop deck. We loved the fact that we didn’t have to mess with renting a car….beautiful Black Beach is only a couple minute walk away and the cute little town of Cahuita with lots of great restaurants and shops only about 10-15 minutes away by foot. We enjoyed the Mucho Adventure tour with Marco, a snorkeling tour with Kenry, poolside massages by Angel, manicures and pedicures at the beauty school in town, and went fishing twice with King, all of which were phenomenal. So many wonderful family memories were made during our time in beautiful Costa Rica. Thank you, Martin and Natacha, for helping to make our 30th Anniversary trip one of the best vacations ever! We can’t wait to come back!

This place was absolutely wonderful. We couldn't have asked for more. Every detail was attended to, the hosts were so very helpful in setting up experiences for us, making everything seamless for us. We were able to park our vehicle inside the gate, which was a very safe feeling. The house was immaculate, and supplied with so much!! There was breakfast food, snacks, coffee - even milk and eggs! The beds were super comfortable and it seems like they thought of everything we could possibly need for our comfort. The grounds also were absolutely stunning. So obviously lovingly cared for. We were so very impressed and so very happy!!

We have 3 children, 15, 14 and 2. This house was absolutely amazing for all of us!!! Natacha and Martin are truly super hosts and now our friends! They helped us every step of the way. The pool was so refreshing, the house had everything we needed and more ! The wildlife is awesome to see in person. We would definitely stay here again and so glad we went ! The weather was perfect everyday!

Natacha and Martin were the most attentive hosts I've ever had the pleasure of renting from. Even a month before we were to arrive they were answering all of my questions straight away. And while there, they hooked us up with wonderful guides and experiences by locals. The house is just remarkable! The glass walls and the rooftop deck were spectacular!
In the early mornings, my son and I would go up to the deck and watch the Green McCaws feasting on they mango breakfast. The pool was a perfect temperature and we would spend hours relaxing after our daily adventures in town or on the beach.
Snorkeling with Kenry was wonderful! He also took us on the tour through the National Park with playing in the warm waters of the Caribbean Beaches. So many fish and the coral was so interesting. And his homemade ceviche was delicious!
Billy was so patient and kind during our surfing lessons. And I'd highly recommend his Indigenous Experience with chocolate making and the hike to the waterfall!
Walking to the restaurants, the little town and the beach made it so much more relaxing than having to drive everywhere. I'd highly recommend the empanadas from Patty DelRita's place were delicious!
We had to get used to the mangos dropping randomly throughout the day and night, but a small price to pay. And the ants all through the country are crazy! Definitely caused us to be as clean as we've ever been in the kitchen. Air conditioning would have made this home just about perfect! But I totally understand why they probably don't have them. The peaceful sounds would be disturbed by them running.
The home can use some love, which they are giving to it as fast as they can. But the set up of the 4 separate rooms, each with their own full bathroom, is perfect for sharing with friends and family! They even have one room with a gate on it if you have younger children.
The stairs would have been tricky for my son when he was younger but he did fine with them now.
Overall, just a remarkable experience that I would highly recommend!

5 star stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Casa del Mango. The house is simply gorgeous. It was immaculate and had 4 big, beautiful bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, deck and hammock. The rooftop deck was such a perfect touch and had a great 360 degree view, including the beautiful black sand beach that is only a 5 minute walk away. We loved having margaritas up on the deck at sunset. The pool and patio were a tropical paradise and our kids loved playing in the pool. Natacha and Martin were the PERFECT hosts. They were flexible with check in/out times and met us when we arrived. They stay in the casita next door but were respectful of our privacy and space. They left us a fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed to cook and even left us eggs, fresh fruit, beer and condiments! We really enjoyed getting to know them and they joined us at the pool one evening, bringing gifts of local rum and cake from a local baker. They gave us suggestions for local restaurants and also told us about some live music at a local restaurant where they and some friends would be if we wanted to join (which we did). This was such a perfect way for us to end our trip to Costa Rica. We definitely recommend staying here!

Wonderful place for a family gathering
New owners Martin and Natacha only arrived a week before our group but were wonderful warm hosts who did everything possible to make our family of 6 adults and one excited 6 year old welcome. The house is beautiful and bring a good camera with telephoto lens because you won’t need to leave to see an amazing variety of animals and bird life. The center of the property is a magnificent mango tree (hopefully a sloth will be there to greet you as he was for us) and climb to the roof in the morning to watch the resident iguanas warming in the sun. The beach is a very short walk away and you can walk 3 km to the Tree of Life wildlife sanctuary for their daily tour. The new owners are working hard to upgrade internet and small things around the house but the pool is beautiful at night and the flowers on the grounds are beautiful. We were fortunate to have arranged several nights of catered meals from Rahel and Esteban at Aroma Cafe and we highly recommend them for a unique experience. A car is highly recommended if you plan to stay for more than a few days since the “supermarket” is a 20 minute drive away and the local store in Cahuita is pricey. There are numerous local tours available and the new owners are working hard to make sure guests have a great experience. Note that the stairs can be challenging for those with limited mobility and bare feet are a must, as well as using the handrails. Pura Vida!

Our group of 7 had plenty of room to spare and loved using the pool and other gathering spaces. The sloth sanctuary and jaguar sanctuary were only a few minutes drive away, and Sara directed us to a beautiful waterfall walk that we enjoyed swimming in.
There was so much wildlife to see while at the house. We saw Monkeys in the trees, Iguanas, small lizards, frogs and so many beautiful tropical birds! We loved hearing the howler monkeys in the distance and the frogs singing at night.
The 2 cats on the property were so much fun and well behaved. We enjoyed watching them playing in the garden and having their company during our morning coffee.

You are booked in to a uniquely creative house with lushly gorgeous gardens, a pool, with all the amenities, interior and exterior, one could wish for as you relaxed. Your outside "buddies" will be a splendid array of Howler Monkeys, Sloths, Iguanas, and the brilliantly colorful and lively birds, etc. The care with which Sara, Nando, and all support staff showed us was sincere, warm, personable, respectful, fun, intelligent, and oh so knowledgable about where we could walk or hike to; especially la playa d'Atlantico, or Cahuita National Park, the restaurants, local stores, etc. Never once were we lead astray only given clear and meaningful information so that we could make our decisions according to our needs or whims. We did.The only thing that we found lacking was not having a blender. (I chuckle at this.) We wanted to be able to make Pina Coladas at Casa del Mango, yet the fine restaurant, Restaurante Sobre Las Olas (Sooo close to the house; situated right on El Atlantico; with fantastic food!, which Sara had told us about) let us purchase them and bring them back to Casa del Mango. Amazing Weekend Getaway!
We are in Costa Rica for 3 Weeks staying in Tuis near Turrialba and we wanted to sneak away for a few days to show our 6 kids the Caribbean. We found this home and decided it would be a good fit for our family of 10. It was great. Sara was always there for every need. She went above and beyond in so many ways. We are so grateful for her hospitality. We saw Howler Monkeys out our bedroom windows each morning. Also, Toucan’s and Sloth’s were present. So fun. Family memory for sure.

Heaven on Earth
Our stay at Casa de Mango was absolutely magical from the start - so magical we didn't want to go home! The owners and staff were more helpful and friendly than any of our experiences at a 5-star hotel. The house is spectacular - so much so that tourists stopped and took pictures outside the fenced-in yard during the full week we were there. From the ocean breeze coming into our private bedrooms to the mom-and-baby sloths hanging in the trees right off the rooftop deck, it was hard to believe our experience was real. This wonderful retreat was the perfect place for celebrating my husband's 40th birthday with our 9-person family.
Here are the highlights:
1. Four spacious bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and covered patio. The house can be loud with howler monkeys outside and people walking around in the upstairs rooms, so bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
2. Picturesque private tropical garden with fabulous pool, several seating alcoves (including a dining table for 8) and our very own cat for the week, Benny.
3. Only a 3-minute walk from a pristine, uncrowded beach with black sand and picturesque views.
4. Great local restaurants were a short 5-10 minute walk away. You can also rent a bike in town if you're so inclined. The food is inexpensive and incredibly tasty. Try the delicious smoothies at the Soda, yummy sandwiches at FaceFood and "shrimp fried rice" + Cuba Libres at Cocos (our personal faves!). Dancing at the Reggae Bar was a blast, too!
5. A super friendly staffer stays on the property each night in a separate bungalow, and they are there to help with anything you need - from greeting you on the first day to lighting up the garden at night and helping you open a locked door (personal experience!).
6. The sights and activities of the region are spectacular. We used Willy's Tours for ziplining and BriBri Indigenous excursions, and their staff was fun and friendly. Sara also gave us advice for our trip into Puerto Viejo to visit the Jaguar rescue and do some shopping.
7. The Casa de Mango team also helped us with many of the mundane arrangements - transportation to and from the airport, for example - but also helped us book private massages at the house (a miracle after a long week of hiking!) and a Valentine's Day chef that served us on the amazing patio.
We've only been gone 5 days and I'm already fantasizing about coming back to the amazing Case de Mango - Pura Vida and thank you, Sara, Nando and team!!!

Our Week In Paradise!
We could not have picked a better place to celebrate our 50th. Wedding Anniversary with our entire family of nine than Casa Del Mango in Cahuita. The unique house of glass, multiple stories, and feeling that the entire house brings the outside in is most impressive. The top viewing deck gives one a 360 degree view of the nearby Caribbean, mountains, and lush tropical forest teaming with native creatures such as sloths, howler and white faced monkeys, iguanas, and so many multi colored birds like the beautiful Toucan. The well maintained gardens surrounding the home are absolutely beautiful with so many exotic species of plants, bushes, and trees. Having ones own pool at your doorstep is such a great plus for Casa Del Mango as well as the outside dining area off the kitchen where most of our meals were enjoyed. Speaking of meals, one would be making a big mistake if they did not seek out the services of Mirtha, a fantastic cook originally from Peru. She with help from other family members prepared each night the most delicious meals with a “native cuisine” theme. Each night we all eagerly awaited her return to find out what taste treat she was going to prepare for us! She is FANTASTIC!
Another huge plus for Casa Del Mango is that it is central to everything. Walking a couple hundred yards from the house is the Caribbean with access to volcanic black sand, surfing, boogie boarding, and great surf and swimming in warm waters. Within a five minute walk on a little dirt road one finds themselves immersed in the neat village of Cahuita. Lots of good places to eat, shops to explore, and very friendly local folks to help you when ever necessary. A visit to the Tree of Life Sanctuary is a must as the two hour tour gives one a better understanding of the local flora and fauna as well as their rehabilitation program.
A short 20 minute walk brings one to Cahuita National Park another must visit spot. The 8KM trail winds through the tropical rain forest and along the white sand beach. There are countless opportunities to view many different types of wildlife. It’s a wonderful experience best done at 6:00AM.
The one person we want to thank the most is Sara Ford, the manager of the property. She was always available to answer questions, arrange our daily outings,or do anything to make our trip a huge success. She is a wonderful person who is a true ambassador for Casa Del Mango. Thanksgiving in Paradise!
The house and grounds of La Casa del Mango are absolutely stunning! Beautifully maintained gardens and pool area made for a luxurious stay. The layout of the house was nice with each bedroom having it's own bathroom and balcony. Location is fantastic, minutes from black sand beaches and short 10-15 minute walk to downtown Cahuita (stores and restaurants) and the National Park (with white sand beach). The onsite staff are very friendly and helpful. The owners were extremely helpful and always responded quickly to questions. I would definitely go back and recommend it highly to anyone.

Trip of a lifetime!
We rented La Casa Del Mango with another family--we had 4 kids and 4 adults. The house had 4 beautiful bedrooms, a pool that the kids didn't want to leave, amazing gardens, and an unbelievable rooftop deck! You truly feel as though you're in the jungle. Sara and Nando (and Manuel and Sherri) could not have been more friendly, welcoming and accommodating, from helping us with meals, massages, tours, renting a bike, doing laundry, even babysitting! I couldn't recommend the house and staff more. And beautiful Cahuita and nearby Puerto Viejo--beaches, food, wildlife, flora--so many excursions for kids and adults alike!

Beautiful property and Sara & Nando were very helpful in making our stay successful.
We had a family celebration and everyone loved the property and village. Two familily members have mobility issues, so the steep, slippery steps were challenging, as was getting into the pool without a handrail, but otherwise everyone was very happy and loved it! Thanks to the whole staff!

Beautiful home, well located w wonderful hosts!
We loved our beautiful multi-level home, especially sitting on the very top open level, watching the ocean, sloths, monkeys, iguanas and beautiful birds from one of the many benches. The walk into town was super short, and the walks to the national park and tree of life sanctuary were very do-able as well. We loved both and highly recommend a visit. We ate at the top 3 restaurants and loved them all -- Girasol, Pizzaria Italiano and Sobre de las Olas. We also had breakfast delivered twice from Brigitte, as was arranged thru our lovely hostess, Sara -- SO good!!!! We also snorkeled with Willie's, as was recommended by Sara, and the snorkel trip was really nice. Re Sara, we can't say enough. She's by far the most responsive and charming hostess you could ever hope for. Her team was equally nice, and the entire stay was nothing short of wonderful. Last note -- we loved the pool area and pool and spent a lot of time there - the water is crystal clear and it was the perfect place to cool down and relax. The gardens are just beautiful... All in, you won't find a better place to be.

Great vacation!
Our family, plus two others, rented Casa del Mango for a week long vacation in Cahuita! We were 3 adults, and 5 kids (ranging in age from 8-18). Everyone had a blast! The hosts are awesome (thank you Sara and Nando) and there is always someone available on the property to help. The pool and gardens are gorgeous. The house is clean and comfy! We never ran out of things to do - beach, national park, sloth sanctuaries, you name it. This is the perfect home base for a Costa Rican vacation on the Caribbean coast!

A Perfect Holiday!
Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed the week over New Year's in paradise! The house was large,very comfortable and kept spotless. The yard and pool area were spectacular and kept in immaculate shape. Sara and Nando were great hosts, readily available and more than willing to answer our multiple questions. Sara was instrumental in coordinating transport to and from San Jose though Junior Palmer - who we would highly recommend. She also suggested a day tour with Junior which was educational, challenging and loads of fun. Sara also organized a cook for us to prepare breakfast and dinner each day. Sherry was informative, helpful, fun as well as a great and, very accommodating, chef! She is also a talented "Dirty MInds" player!!
Casa del Mango is minutes to the beach, bars, restaurants and the Calhuita National Park. Although we did a couple of tours, visited the beach and the town our fondest memories of our visit was the time spent at the house - by the pool checking out the howler monkeys, iguana, sloths, birds and frogs from the comforts of our lounge chairs and at night on the back porch enjoying a few beverages while playing cards and silly board games.
It was a perfect holiday for all 7 of us with ages ranging from 20 - 50+! Our only complaint...it wasn't long enough!
A couple of things for visitors... The town is quite safe - we all felt very comfortable wondering about. Locals were helpful and pleasant. Make sure you have cash - there is only one bank/atm in Calhuita and it is often out of money. Some places in town charge up to 13% for the use of VISA. Make sure you visit the Tree of Life Rescue Centre, Calhuita National Park, Reggae Bar and Sobre las Olas Restaurant.

Love it
In February my boyfriend, myself and some friends stayed at Casa Del Mango. We had an amazing time. I meant to write a review right away but I kept forgetting. Sarah and Nando were awesome. So friendly and welcoming, they helped us with anything we needed and were good conversation other wise. The house was great! Perfect for our group. I will definitely go back and definitely stay here again. Miss you already Sarah and Nando, and miss Costa Rica! If you guys are ever in Denver email me! Again sorry it took so long to write this.

Absolute Paradise!!
This house looks amazing in photos, but in person it's absolute paradise! The yard and pool area is perfectly maintained and gorgeous. The house is roomy and comfortable. Sara and Nando were absolutely gracious hosts, and every question or request was immediately answered or catered to. My six friends and I didn't want to leave. We spent the week lounging by the gorgeous and clean pool, making food in the kitchen, playing cards and drinking way too many Imperials on the patio, or watching the wildlife and the ocean from the rooftop deck.
The house is much closer to the beach than expected, and the view is incredible. From the rooftop we could watch iguanas in the trees, birds (so many birds), and even saw a couple sloths. The house has wifi which is a god send for those of us who are locked to our modern conveniences. There are four very spacious bedrooms, each with a lock and set of keys.
The town of Cahuita is a close walk. Nearby a delicious french bakery up on the main route (highly recommended for breakfast). Sobre Las Olas is the closest restaurant, and is right on the beach, and the food is absolutely amazing! But you must try the pina coladas!
I would absolutely return to Cahuita and to Casa Del Mango in a heartbeat.

Wonderful treehouse at the beach
Of the number of vacation homes we've rented, this is the one we would most like to get back to. The quirky architecture makes it something like living in a tree fort, only with jewel-colored tropical flowers all around. The rooms and especially the grounds are much more brightly colored and varied than they look in the pictures. The pool was clean and blue, as the photos show, and the gardens are cleverly laid out for seclusion and variety. It's a quiet little world of its own, behind a fence with a locked gate, on a small unpaved road with other vacation homes. One word about the height of the building: if you bring children, be aware that the top two floors are open decks. They offer a great 360° view of rooftops, jungle and ocean, and there are solid railings, of course, but it's high. That being said, for us the decks were one of the major draws of the place. On the next two floors down are the bedrooms, two on each floor, and the ground level has the open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, a powder room, and a wonderful lanai with a comfortable glider and a table and chairs.
We rented as a family of four grown-ups, with the luxury of a bedroom and private bath for each of us. Our stay was for only three nights, and we wished we had made it for twice that. Nando and Manuel were very nice and helpful and could always be found when we needed them, but were never intrusive. We liked the town of Cahuita very much, with its laissez-faire Caribbean atmosphere and contented-looking dogs wandering around. There isn't much shopping, but there always seemed to be a low-key party scene in the evening. And in the daytime there are plenty of nature-oriented things to do in the area, as other people have noted.
All in all, for us this was one of the best stays ever, anywhere.

Exceptional Property
We can't say enough good things about our recent stay at La Casa Del Mango. We stayed from a Saturday-Saturday with myself, my husband, sister, mom and step dad. The house was not only beautiful and spacious- we all had our own space- but everyone who worked on the property were so friendly and helpful. Manual greeted us and went to the store to get us coffee so we'd have some for our first morning! Sarah and Nando are wonderful hosts who ensure that you are comfortable and you get the most out of your stay. The pool will quickly turn into your favorite part of the house as well as the patio! We cooked several times in the kitchen and had everything we needed. Location wise, it's a bit of a walk into the main part of town, but you are close to the other parts of Cahuita- Reggae Bar and WildLife Center, so it's really convenient. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone traveling to Cahuita

Fabulous stay at Casa Del Mango!
I recently stayed in Casa Del Mango with 8 of my family members over Christmas and had an absolutely amazing time. Sara, Nando and the entire Casa Del Mango family were so helpful and accommodating and even hung up Christmas lights to make us feel that much more at home over the holidays. They were available to give advice and help with any household questions that we had during our stay. The property is secure and in a great location to beautiful beaches, Cahuita's town center as well as the Cahuita National Park. The pool at the house is also a fabulous place to hang out for a lazy day of lounging! Overall, I would highly recommend this to groups and families looking for a Costa Rican adventure and relaxing get-away.

perfect!
my partner and i stayed at "la casa del mango" for six nights (we just got back home last night!). it was a perfect location in town, close to things but quiet. a short walk from the cahuita national park, and a short drive to all kinds of fun activities on the caribe coast. we went to the sloth sanctuary, bocas del toro, panama, the beautiful parks, got amazing massages a block away, neighborhood restaurants, peurto viejo (which is a lively beach town)- there was also yoga offered in town numerous times per week. the town is quiet, and calm but has plenty of things to do.
the house itself was immaculate. clean, beautiful. even more gorgeous than the pictures. with helpful staff (especially manuel, we loved him!). all of the staff was warm, welcoming, helpful- we even hung out with sara and nando's kids, and felt like a part of the family. fyi-- they don't live/stay on site, they just come during the day to make sure we are ok! so nice! we got up every morning and made breakfast and had our coffee outside where there was no shortage of wildlife. we saw iguanas, hummingbirds and all kinds of other creatures right outside our door/window. we had the house all to ourselves, so it's hard to say what it might be like if we'd had to share the facilities with strangers, but this would be a great house to rent with a group of friends or family. there was plenty of space! it was hot though. this is the Caribbean, so that is to be expected. we spent most of our days by the pool, and by bed time, things cooled down quite a bit-- overnight, we always ended up reaching for a blanket. we were on the top floor, in the room with the see-through bathroom ceiling. pro-tip: don't leave your makeup/toiletries there all day, or you'll come home to melted lipstick and very hot lotion!
it was a great stay, we were very sad to leave, and i would definitely recommend this place to friends. i'm already trying to arrange another trip! thanks to the casa del mango family for an awesome stay!
