The ground floor opens to a lower lanai and a large lawn, also facing the ocean, with another outdoor sitting area. The large lawn is great for light sports, and playtime with the kids. The house is located in a private gated development. It is so serene that all you hear are the ocean waves and birds singing. It is only 4 miles from Spencer Beach, and just 10 minutes drive to Hapuna Beach State Park, one of the top white sand beaches in the world! Three minutes south of the house is the quaint, historic town of Kawaihae. There you will find restaurants, a fresh fish market, fruit, vegetable and flower market, a dive shop and catamaran cruises. It's a 20 minute drive up to the beautiful ranch town of Waimea, and 40 minutes to the airport and Kona. With only 10 minutes to Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Resorts, you can easily access the many resort shopping, restaurants, golf and tennis facilities. With its deep ocean pockets, right in front of out house is about the best place on the island for whale watching. Dive boats anchor in front of the house, which is one of the favorite dive spots on the Kohala Coast. Many of our guests say it is the best snorkeling they have ever had. On the 4th of July and New Years Eve you can watch the fireworks on our lanai. And with the special location of the house, we have gorgeous and unique sunsets each night, 365 days a year. There are many activities nearby including golf, tennis, diving, sailing, fishing, zip-lining, hiking, surfing and more. But, you may want to relax at the house and sip mai tais by the pool, play bocce ball on the lawn, have a sunset drink on the large lanai overlooking the ocean and have a BBQ on the biggest built-in viking grill you have ever seen. The house is perfect for special celebrations, family reunions, and a couple’s retreat. It is also a great training spot for the Ironman triathalon in October. There are two beautiful outdoor showers which are convenient for rinsing off sand and dirt after a day's beach outing or biking/boating. The whole house is decorated in a Hawaiian/Indonesian resort style. Many rich hardwoods and natural materials have been used. The infinity edge pool looks like it flows into the ocean, there are lounge chairs on quartzite stone pool deck and on the lower lanai beside the lawn. The whole feel of the house is serene, open and expansive. So if you are looking for a dream vacation home for a special celebration, vacation or reunion, this one is a gem that is hard to come by. My group had the best visit to this amazing home on the Big Island. The property was everything we expected and more. The views from this house are absolutely breathtaking and the neighborhood it's in is very quiet -- barely any cars were seen driving the entire time we were there. The rooms are great and allowed privacy for each guest. The house was very clean and had everything you would need. We had a direct line to a local contact should anything arise, which nothing did. It was one of the best vacations our group has ever taken together. We would love to stay again!

The house was perfect for my family of eight plus a baby. Plenty of room, well appointed kitchen, bathrooms for everyone, quiet and private. We enjoyed the lanai and pool every night from sunset until bed time. The rec room downstairs was fun too. Be prepared to drive at least 15 minutes for most of the restaurants, shopping etc. However, the local fish market and burger place were quite good and very close. The local host was very responsive in replacing a microwave oven that quit working. Our only bad experience was not knowing the day we arrived was the Iron Man race, The airport and all roads were a disaster. It took us over 4 hours to get to the house which was really only about 35-40 min from the airport. This was of course my error, but our dates were flexible and it would have been greatly appreciated if the host/owner had sent us a message letting us know that the roads would be closed until 6:00pm all the way up the Kohala coast. I would recommend this property, It was a lovely neighborhood and home.

Our entire family, ages 7-75, enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The kids spent hours in the pool! We all enjoyed relaxing on the lanai and watching the sunsets after a day of exploring the island. Any communications or concerns were quickly addressed by the owners and property manager. We would all love to come back and stay here again!

All in all, this is a great house in a phenomenal development. The views from all Kohala Waterfront homes are world class. The house just needs a little updating. We’re using it again next year so that should tell you all you need to know.

My family (me, husband and 3 teen sons) spent a week here after a week in Oahu. This is the second time my husband and I have vacationed in the Big Island. This was the best Vrbo home we have rented. The entire home is very upscale and comfortable, clean and everything worked. The outdoor space consisting of a beautiful, very large and comfortable lanai and a gorgeous Infinity pool. 2 of the bedrooms must be accessed outside the home. The house is in a very quiet gated community. Although there is no a/c in the main living area, trade winds keep the area relatively cool. We were greeted with a bowl of Hawaiian fruits. Waimea is a drive away from both Kahala coast beaches and shopping as well as Kona. We visited the sacred sites of Mookini Heiau and Kamehameha Birth Site which is near by. We went to both Waimea farmer markets, ate at Fish and the Hog as well as Kohala Burger. Along the Kohala Coast we went to Spencer Beach, shopped at Queens and Kings Marketplace, had delicious Maslasadas from a food truck, and had a beautiful sunset dinner at Brown’s Beach House. In Kona, we did tour at Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory, did Manta Ray snorkeling, had professional pictures at Old Airport Airport Beach and had a another beautiful sunset dinner at Beach Tree. We spent a day at VNP and an afternoon / evening at Mauna Kea. Mahalo!
