Nestled in Kohala, this lovely house for $1,600 per night is a great choice for your next break. NOTE: NO BACK-TO-BACK BOOKING! There needs to be 24 hours between bookings to ensure proper cleaning. Please make sure your check-in or check-out date does not coincide with an existing check-out or check-in date from another booking. When you walk through the front door, the Ocean view is breathtaking! Unobstructed ocean views from every room in the house! Our expansive resort style home is only 500 feet from the ocean, on a gentle slope, with 180 degree ocean views, and sunset views every day of the year! Five specious bedrooms all have balconies with an ocean view, and each room can be entered privately. The large, covered lanai provides a stunning open view from the house facing the ocean, with mahogany floors flowing from inside to outside seamlessly through 38 ft pocket sliders. The house is a gem with its huge size, great location and top amenities. It is superbly spacious, with 4331 sq.ft plus 2000 sq. ft. of covered lanais. It is equipped with everything you can think of for a luxury vacation home, including a gourmet kitchen with professional Viking appliances and kitchen supplies, huge family room and recreation room equipped with ping-pong, pool table, foosball…, and wi-fi everywhere in the house! Another not-to-miss feature: we have a most beautiful Koa king bed in the master suite, handcrafted by Hawaii local craftsmen. It is a work of art, and so solidly built to provide comfort and soulful companionship to our guests. The main floor has three bedrooms, along with the great room and kitchen. The ground floor has two more bedrooms, along with the recreation room. There are two full baths and a half bath on the main, and two full baths and a half bath on the ground level. The main floor goes out to the covered lanai with outdoor grill and dining, sitting area, which further goes out to the infinity pool and spa area. The ground floor opens to a lower lanai and a large lawn, also facing the ocean, with another outdoor sitting area. The large lawn is great for light sports, and playtime with the kids. The house is located in a private gated development. It is so serene that all you hear are the ocean waves and birds singing. It is only 4 miles from Spencer Beach, and just 10 minutes drive to Hapuna Beach State Park, one of the top white sand beaches in the world! Three minutes south of the house is the quaint, historic town of Kawaihae. There you will find restaurants, a fresh fish market, fruit, vegetable and flower market, a dive shop and catamaran cruises. It's a 20 minute drive up to the beautiful ranch town of Waimea, and 40 minutes to the airport and Kona. With only 10 minutes to Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Resorts, you can easily access the many resort shopping, restaurants, golf and tennis facilities. With its deep ocean pockets, right in front of out house is about the best place on the island for whale watching. Dive boats anchor in front of the house, which is one of the favorite dive spots on the Kohala Coast. Many of our guests say it is the best snorkeling they have ever had. On the 4th of July and New Years Eve you can watch the fireworks on our lanai. And with the special location of the house, we have gorgeous and unique sunsets each night, 365 days a year. There are many activities nearby including golf, tennis, diving, sailing, fishing, zip-lining, hiking, surfing and more. But, you may want to relax at the house and sip mai tais by the pool, play bocce ball on the lawn, have a sunset drink on the large lanai overlooking the ocean and have a BBQ on the biggest built-in viking grill you have ever seen. The house is perfect for special celebrations, family reunions, and a couple’s retreat. It is also a great training spot for the Ironman triathalon in October. There are two beautiful outdoor showers which are convenient for rinsing off sand and dirt after a day's beach outing or biking/boating. The whole house is decorated in a Hawaiian/Indonesian resort style. Many rich hardwoods and natural materials have been used. The infinity edge pool looks like it flows into the ocean, there are lounge chairs on quartzite stone pool deck and on the lower lanai beside the lawn. The whole feel of the house is serene, open and expansive. So if you are looking for a dream vacation home for a special celebration, vacation or reunion, this one is a gem that is hard to come by. Superb location at the gated Kohala Waterfront, on one acre of private, landscaped gardens 500 feet from the Ocean. Spectacular ocean views, beautiful house, top amenities, privacy and serenity, easy access to tourist activities without the hassle and bustle of the tourist crowds at a resort. What’s more, the whales come in so close they sound like they're playing in the swimming pool during whale season, and you see sunsets all year round. My group had the best visit to this amazing home on the Big Island. The property was everything we expected and more. The views from this house are absolutely breathtaking and the neighborhood it's in is very quiet -- barely any cars were seen driving the entire time we were there. The rooms are great and allowed privacy for each guest. The house was very clean and had everything you would need. We had a direct line to a local contact should anything arise, which nothing did. It was one of the best vacations our group has ever taken together. We would love to stay again!

This gorgeous home provided a perfect base for our family's exploration of the island.

The house was perfect for my family of eight plus a baby. Plenty of room, well appointed kitchen, bathrooms for everyone, quiet and private. We enjoyed the lanai and pool every night from sunset until bed time. The rec room downstairs was fun too. Be prepared to drive at least 15 minutes for most of the restaurants, shopping etc. However, the local fish market and burger place were quite good and very close. The local host was very responsive in replacing a microwave oven that quit working. Our only bad experience was not knowing the day we arrived was the Iron Man race, The airport and all roads were a disaster. It took us over 4 hours to get to the house which was really only about 35-40 min from the airport. This was of course my error, but our dates were flexible and it would have been greatly appreciated if the host/owner had sent us a message letting us know that the roads would be closed until 6:00pm all the way up the Kohala coast. I would recommend this property, It was a lovely neighborhood and home.

Our entire family, ages 7-75, enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The kids spent hours in the pool! We all enjoyed relaxing on the lanai and watching the sunsets after a day of exploring the island. Any communications or concerns were quickly addressed by the owners and property manager. We would all love to come back and stay here again!

Beautiful home, plenty of open space and the views are priceless. Came to the island for my birthday with friends and family and it exceeded all our expectations. The home is fully loaded with everything you need for your stay

All in all, this is a great house in a phenomenal development. The views from all Kohala Waterfront homes are world class. The house just needs a little updating. We’re using it again next year so that should tell you all you need to know.

My family (me, husband and 3 teen sons) spent a week here after a week in Oahu. This is the second time my husband and I have vacationed in the Big Island. This was the best Vrbo home we have rented.
The entire home is very upscale and comfortable, clean and everything worked. The outdoor space consisting of a beautiful, very large and comfortable lanai and a gorgeous Infinity pool. 2 of the bedrooms must be accessed outside the home. The house is in a very quiet gated community. Although there is no a/c in the main living area, trade winds keep the area relatively cool. We were greeted with a bowl of Hawaiian fruits.
Waimea is a drive away from both Kahala coast beaches and shopping as well as Kona.
We visited the sacred sites of Mookini Heiau and Kamehameha Birth Site which is near by.
We went to both Waimea farmer markets, ate at Fish and the Hog as well as Kohala Burger. Along the Kohala Coast we went to Spencer Beach, shopped at Queens and Kings Marketplace, had delicious Maslasadas from a food truck, and had a beautiful sunset dinner at Brown’s Beach House. In Kona, we did tour at Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory, did Manta Ray snorkeling, had professional pictures at Old Airport Airport Beach and had a another beautiful sunset dinner at Beach Tree. We spent a day at VNP and an afternoon / evening at Mauna Kea.

Best views. Quiet. Peaceful. Awesome responsive hosts. Family of 7 adults and 3 kids. Would prefer others don’t stay here so that I can come back time and time again.

This beautiful home accommodated our family, so we could all stay together. The views were amazing. The fully furnished kitchen and outdoor grilling area were amazing and allowed us to spend time together over meals we prepared.

We rented this fantastic house for our family vacation, our kids and 2 grandkids. We have been spoiled by a large family home on a lake where we have been vacationing for the past 5 years so we have a very high standard. This exceeded our expectations; everyone had a great time. Plenty of room for all and the pool was fantastic!!! The sunsets were beautiful.

This is a top-notch property! The description is very accurate. The view is stunning. The home is nicely decorated and the floorplan works exceptionally well for a family. Each sleeping area has private access so people can have different sleep schedules without being disturbed. The pool was amazing--super clean, big, beautiful and warm. The hot tub was great too! The location was private and quiet. The location is near many excellent snorkeling beaches. We did not find access to the beach right in front of this property. Also, we found the mosquitos to be pesky, so bring bug spray.
Overall, this property well exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend it and hope to stay here again soon!

Our overall stay was wonderful! The pictures posted with the property listing were accurate, and the pool/ocean view looked even more beautiful in real life.
Pros:
- The kitchen has everything you could need.
- It was nice that laundry detergent, dish soap, garbage bags, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, and other items were provided.
- The bedrooms had air conditioning.
- Although we were a group of 10, we never really ran into hot water issues which was nice.
- The TV’s have Netflix and Hulu capabilities.
- The game room was great, we used the ping pong table and the pool table just about every day, it does get hot down there quick though!
- The pool size was larger than what I thought it would be which was a plus. There were also enough lounge chairs for everyone.
- The property owner was super friendly and responded quickly with any questions I had prior to our stay.
Cons:
- There was definitely room for improvement on freshening up the house before we arrived, a lot of surfaces and dishes were dusty, and dead gnats on counters - not major, it just took some work on our end to an initial cleaning.
- It noted that the garbage was going to be picked up every 3 days, but it was only picked up once which was the day before we left, and with the hot weather the garbage smelled very bad and had bugs and of course was overflowing.
- The pool/hot tup toward the end of our stay had mosquitoes and some roaches, when I told the onsite host, I didn’t receive a response so our family ended up just not using it the last couple days.
Overall, I would still highly recommend this property, you cannot beat the ocean view!

We loved the property and the views were stunning!! Saw many whales and dolphins while lounging around the pool.

It's difficult to give an adequate description of this house. It exemplifies what a Hawaii vacation is all about – the view, plenty of (updated) interior & exterior space, the view, a private pool with two wonderful lanais, the view, & nice weather. The expansive, grand view of the ocean dominates (& the surf is faintly audible); views of the coastline, Hualalai, & Mauna Loa add to the picturesque setting (alas, Mauna Kea isn't visible unless one goes to the south end of the property and looks around the corner). There are many more good things to say about this house – they are enumerated in other reviews & in the vrbo listing. Are there negatives to this house? Of course; no house is perfect - there's no whole-house sound system, the MBR has only an exterior entrance, the DVR didn't function (if there is one), and, well, that's all that's worth mentioning.

Beautiful property. Loved the pool and hot tub and enjoyed the ocean view.
We had 8 people (4 couples) in our group and was nice for each couple to have a bedroom and bathroom to themselves.
We utilized the large kitchen and outdoor BBQ grill a lot which saved money on meals

The pool and spa with a breathtaking 180 degree view of the ocean was most popular with this family of nine including small children. The large site is quiet and peaceful with Hawaiian Monarchs, geckos, birds, and beautiful mature trees. The location is close to excellent beaches such as Mauna Kea for morning snorkeling, Hapuna with its waves and sugar sand, and for the youngest children the gentle surf of Spencer Beach Park. Everyone loved the top notch poke, ice cream, and shave ice just minutes away in Kawaihae.

The house was the perfect size to accommodate our family. The location was well-sited, with a fantastic view of the Kona coastline, and convenient to beautiful beaches, the resorts at Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea & all the dining & shopping they offer. The whale activity was more than we’ve seen in the many years; the bonus was occasional spouting, breathing & vocalizing at night.

The 5 bedrooms worked perfect for our adult kids and spouses. Even the teen grandchild had her own room.
We found the house to be exactly like the VRBO photos/descriptions promised. The views are amazing. The whales were plentiful. Location is quiet & serene.

Whales breaching, sounds of waves crashing, dolphin sighting. Very comfortable well appointed home. The pool and hot tub were well used. Game room downstairs was fun for the kids and adults.

The homeowner has beautifully outlined what her home offers!
Here’s what the individuals in my family had to say: “I love our new home” (5year old); Adult comments “I appreciated the privacy and safety of the neighborhood”,; The master bathroom is spectacular; The layout of the bedrooms is a little unique, as do you have to enter one room and go through a bathroom to get to the third bedroom (although there is an exterior door); While this is an amazing home it is also a very comfortable home.
From the 8 year old, This house is amazing and the yard comes with so many geckos and beautiful wild life! We were able to see whales, dolphins, unobstructed starry nights and spectacular sunsets.
In summary, the house is spectacular and the property manager was extremely responsive. thank you for sharing your home with us.

We stayed at this property to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday with a few friends and family. The property is spectacular and the location/views are even better than the pictures. We were able to see dolphins while sitting on the lanai! My only complaint is the services and their schedules... be sure to ask the owner about the pool, yard, and maintenance service that will likely impede your stay. Other than that, our expectations were exceeded!

Beautiful home with spectacular views. Flexible space and very well stocked kitchen (basics). The pool and hot tub were amazing. Not terribly close to things, but that makes for a very serene setting. The only issue we had was one of the two TV’s didn’t work.

We “adult kids” celebrated our mom’s 80th birthday in this lovely house. It was perfect in every way. Location perfect, house perfect, neighborhood perfect, private chef perfect, location on island perfect. Too bad she can’t turn 80 again but maybe we will be back to party on her 85th. Thank you to all to help make this vaca so fun.

If you are thinking about booking this property...DO IT!!!! This home is everything it says it is and better. We were a family staying with our adult children and grandchildren and the set up is perfect for that. Each family had their own area of bedrooms. Also would be great for couples that ravel in a group. The view is mesmerizing along with the pool. Best sunset views!!! In a great location for privacy in a gorgeous private neighborhood that was easy driving distance to many excursions and near fabulous 10 minutes drives to awesome beaches like Hapuna!!!! We loved it and I would advise you to jump on it because you will not regret renting this home!!!!

Absolutely beautiful vacation property for a family of 10. Celebrating a 50th Anniversary with our children and grandchildren. You cannot find a property with a better view and wonderful pool and hot tub. I would recommend this property to anyone, and we will be back !

Our adult kids walked around for the 1st 20 minutes with their mouths hanging open as to how great the house was. The view was incredible. The local property manager was very responsive. House was very well outfitted with supplies. Great choice.

This house made our multi-generational family trip to the Big Island a truly unforgettable experience. Everything about it is top-notch. The house lay-out is perfect for kids, as they have the entire downstairs to play ping-pong, pool, and foosball, then run outside to play catch or croquet (provided), then jump into the pool...while the adults can relax on the amazing outdoor patio. The view is postcard-perfect. And if you're adventurous, there is snorkeling within walking distance along the cul-de-sac pedestrian entrance. We had 10 people (4 kids), and everyone had their own space/privacy when needed. The house is very well cleaned and maintained. There are air conditioning units in each bedroom, which is a really nice convenience. There are world-class beaches within a 5-10 min drive. Closest grocery store is 20 min. Perfect place to stay if you don't mind being away from Kona (about 1 hour). It took us about 2.5 hours to drive to Volcano National Park. Thank you Julie for sharing your amazing house!!

Paradise Discovered
We had an incredible time at this beautiful property. The pictures do not do it justice. The views from the back are incredible. Enjoyed having our morning coffee with the views of the ocean and the infinity pool.
The home is very spacious for two families of 5 each. We were able to have our privacy but also enjoy our time together in the many sitting areas inside and out. The ocean breeze was very relaxing and kept the common areas cool and comfortable. Having the A/C units in the bedrooms were also very helpful. The lower level family room with its pool table and ping pong table providing fun for the whole family.
Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare and enjoy a meal at the home. It can get hot in the kitchen as there is no A/C in the common living area.
We were lucky to have chosen a home on the northwest side of the island since it is always sunny and warm. Found the Hilo side to be more cloudy and cooler.
Overall we were very happy with the home and its beautiful views!

As we walked to the front door, a window allowed us to see the magnificent views of the ocean awaiting us. After walking through the front door, we were blown away by the beauty of this property! We were a family of ten, and this home provided everything we needed for every age level. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was just beautiful! The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The primary shower was nothing short of amazing! And the grounds were beautiful! We felt very fortunate to be staying at such a beautiful location! Just a beautiful experience! I would love to stay there again!
