About this house rental

Nestled in Sedgwick, this charming house for $275 per night is a great choice for your next break. This house was custom built in 2011 and looks brand new. It features a large, open living and dining area, with a wrap-around deck facing the river; a private guest suite on the first floor with two bedrooms and its own bath; an immense second-floor master suite with a walk-in closet, a double bath, plenty of light and its own private deck; and a brand-new TV / game room on the ground floor. Situated in the heart of Maine's Blue Hill Peninsula, Camp Stream sits on a six-acre lot in a rural setting right on the Bagaduce River, which you can see from almost every room in the house. You will have all the quiet and privacy you could want. There is a quick path from the house to the river where you can launch your kayak, canoe or floating tube. The kitchen features brand new appliances and comes fully equipped with everything you'll need, as well as a large walk-in pantry. We provide towels and linens, and a washer and dryer are available for your use. There is free WiFi and satellite TV. We have a wonderful caretaker who will make sure the house is spotless and ready for your arrival in every way. If you have stayed at Camp Stream before, you'll notice a few changes. We are new owners, and have fully re-decorating and re-furnishing the house, taking it up a notch without losing any of its charm or coziness. You'll also notice that we've fully finished the great room in the basement--complete with its own views of the Bagaduce--and turned it into a modern TV / game / family room. The house sits on a bright, sunny clearing right on the river, with plenty of room for outdoor fun and BBQs (there is a gas grill). Beyond the clearing are thick green woods on one side a the gentle Bagaduce on the other. NEW FOR 2017: We have thinned out the trees along the river, to afford a much better view from the deck, and we've built up the pathway to the water for kayaking, etc. We find the location peaceful and beautiful, and the views are ever-changing.

This is a well appointed and comfortable house in our favorite part of Maine, with a very accommodating host. With Lee (then a hurricane) barreling toward the Downeast region on our scheduled departure day, Douglas graciously allowed us to extend our stay. The house is spacious with everything a guest might need, and more. I'd swap my kitchen layout for Douglas' in a heartbeat. There are wonderful views of the Bagaduce throughout the house. The property is large and private while just a 10-minute drive to Blue Hill. Despite the unusually damp weather for September, we got in many of our favorite hikes (Blue Hill Mountain, Barred Island, Great Pond Mountain, and Crockett's Cove) plus a few new trails (Harriman Point Preserve is a winner). We were also pleased to find that the Barncastle restaurant is under new management with a wonderful menu. We enjoyed dinner there one night. If you have to work, the internet is strong and reliable. Or if you have a rain day, there are plenty of cushy chairs and sofas for reading and admiring the scenery, We look forward to staying again in 2024.

Comfortable, clean, and the best-stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a rental. Beautiful views of the Bagaduce River. The host was immediately responsive when we had a minor problem. We enjoyed the deck, the grill, the hammock, and the outdoor dining area. Near to good grocery and fish stores. Ceiling and two tall fans helped in hot weather (no AC). The home is a little isolated; we enjoy being able to walk into a town.

Loved it! It’s a 60 minute drive to Acadia Nat’l Park, and only about 30 minutes for all the other places we visited. Great hiking in Blue Hill, Holbrook Sanctuary and of course at Acadia. We had fun watching/visiting/purchasing pottery from Mark Bell at his Pottery studio. We enjoyed mornings and evening relaxing in the home and out on the deck! Watched deer each day, kayaked in the river, played new board games, cooked fresh lobster purchased from Greenhead Lobster, fresh off the boat in Stonington! The kitchen had it all! The owners have gone above and beyond. We’d highly recommend this property!

Wonderful newer Home well stocked with all the living items necessary for a great stay. Kayaks and spacious deck were a hit . Water access and the view to water needs a bit of work (still was manageable). Close enough to Acadia and places to eat. Loved. Blue Hill and downtown Ellsworth. Thanks Doug, Jim and Team. You are fantastic hosts.

Modern well appointed home located next to the quiet Bagaduce river. Outstanding kitchen, stupendous master suite on the top floor, well set up entertainment room in the finished basement, lovely covered outdoor eating area just off of the kitchen. Our only dismay was the the need for a shade on the sliding door in the master bedroom (privacy is not an issue but the morning light would wake me). We would come back in a heartbeat.

This is our third time staying at Camp Stream. The house is beautiful, impeccably clean, and so well stocked with everything you need to make it feel like home. The Blue Hill peninsula is so lovely and peaceful. Perfect for getting away. There’s nothing like an early AM paddle on the Bagaduce to start the day right! Thank you Douglas!
