Tranquil Lakefront Cottage Near Acadia Nat’l Park.
About this cottage rental
Nestled in Surry, this attractive cottage for $175 per night is a great option for your next break. Indulge in the feeling of seclusion from an expansive deck overlooking a peaceful lake away from the hustle of everyday life. Enjoy daily swimming in the lovely gravel bottomed swimming area at the foot of the hill, although there is no beach. Savor spectacular sunsets on the deck after supper. Cottage has 1 large kitchen/dining/living room with 2 separate bedrooms and one full bath which is outside on the screened-in porch. The front bedroom has a queen bed & lake views while the back bedroom has a forest view with a double bed. There is one large front deck, and 1 small screened in side porch. I do use the cottage myself when not rented & I have a Siamese cat that I bring with me. Please be aware of this if you have allergies. :) I rely on a hot spot for internet service, so it is not unlimited & you’ll need to be conservative in it’s use. There’s not enough data to watch any kind of videos, I’m afraid. Also, I had my well water evaluated last year & it didn’t pass the potability test, so I provide 6 gallons of spring water to get you started, although you may need to buy more if you do a lot of cooking while there. There is no fire pit at the property as it is in the middle of the woods & an unnoticed spark could be a disaster. Keywords: camp, ranch, lakefront, cottage, cabin, convenient, swimming, secluded

The bathroom is outside on the porch and not inside the cabin. There is no main heat throughout the house and the gas wall heater goes out constantly and the floor was freezing from lack of insulation under it. The place was clean.

What a perfect rustic property. It felt like returning home though it was our first trip to Maine. Beautiful views from the deck, great kayaking from the dock, and close enough to Ellsworth and Acadia to really enjoy the region when we could tear ourselves away from the lake. We barely knew there were other houses around but we never felt isolated. Just the right balance.

The property was very clean, peaceful and on the lake. It is also close to Acadia National Park.

The cottage is nicely located on a terrace above the pond. It has a beautiful deck partly shaded by tall white pines. There is a natural stone path down to the excellent dock on the pond. (The steps might be hard for seniors or small children). The kitchen is nicely equipped for cooking light meals. The bathroom has been recently updated and the washer and dryer are excellent. The bedrooms, like most cottages, small but both have closet space and drawers for clothes. Access was good and plenty of parking for up to three vehicles. We relied on our cellphones for internet access and reception is excellent, but the wifi limited to a hotspot is very sketchy. Cindy was very easy to communicate with and provides good instructions on most items. We had an excellent week touring local site and eateries and found the cottage met our needs. We would stay here again. Thanks Cindy.

For our family this was a great property to relax and enjoy but also able to reach areas in Maine we wanted to visit.
I appreciated communications with the owner and she was very accommodating when we had a booking issue.

Peaceful, quiet and refreshing. A pleasure to call “home” for a week. Now throw in the nightly serenade of loons. Most definitely five stars.

we enjoyed our stay very much, with morning coffee, and evening glass of wine on the deck with a beautiful view

This cottage is a hidden gem! Not far from Route 1 (access to everything you need is within a few miles), you end up at a lovely cottage that seems miles away from everything overlooking a quiet Upper Patton Pond. We saw a few kayakers, one tiny sailboat, and two low-speed power boats during our stay. My husband caught several fish off of the new dock, and I was able to sit on the deck or screened-in porch and read to my heart's delight. The bed was comfortable, and the cottage was well-stocked with everything we needed. We were grateful for the fans provided as it was very warm and humid during our stay. We would definitely go back!!

We enjoyed our stay at this lakefront cabin. Although the location is isolated, we enjoyed the peaceful setting, especially the large porch that overlooks the lake. The cabin was comfortable and spacious. The only drawbacks were that we had to use bottled water for all drinking (as the well water had not passed inspection) and we were instructed to limit WiFi use due to data restrictions. Both of these limitations were not disclosed in the listing for this property, neither at the time we reserved it for our stay nor at the time of this review. We were only informed of these restrictions by direct e-mail shortly before our stay.

This cozy cottage had a beautiful water view right from our bedroom window. Also from the deck, porch and family room.
We arrived at night so it was a little challenging to find the cottage because it is down a short but steep hill. We could see the roof first. No problems after that.
We were concerned about lighting the heater pilot light when we arrived but Cindy was so accommodating and stayed late so she could show us how it worked. No problems after that.
It is rustic but very clean and nice. Updated bathroom and nice shower with washer and dryer.
It was close to Ellsworth and Acadia. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again next summer or autumn.

Great accommodation. Fantastic view. Loons were a wonderful sound in the morning.

We were hoping for a place that felt private; was quiet and had a great view. We stayed a week in early September after labor day. It was all of the above and we even got to see and hear loons, a bonus! The road in was all dirt and very wooded, prior to coming to such a wonderful view of the pond. The deck is huge and it was nice to have the option to sit in the smaller screened in porch, which was also how you accessed the modern bath and laundry room. Both screen and bathroom door lock for those that have concerns. In September, you will want to wear slippers and a robe to the bathroom, which was right outside of the living area, as it's a few steps in the outside air. The kitchen area was a little small to work in but it's an older cottage, so to be expected but it had everything you could possibly need and some. Fans in every room. The bedroom with a queen has a sliding door. Upon leaving, you have to walk past the other bedroom which does not have a door for full privacy, if that is a concern. I did read someone hung a curtain or shower curtain for more privacy? We had no issues with the shower, plenty of hot water. Nice and modern and clean. We never turned on the one tv, so I cannot comment on that. I also did not walk down the stone/rock steps to the pier but my husband did. Just take your time and watch your step. We found the two chairs comfortable for reading in. As for the screened porch, I could picture two rockers there. It did have a small table and straight chairs for having coffee in the morning without being bothered by bugs. A larger round table on the deck with two loungers as well. The grill had an issue but we knew ahead of time because of good communication with Cindy. So we managed to pan fry our steak and chicken tips and had one meal of pasta. We could have cooked seafood at the cottage but chose to visit a few restaurants for seafood in Ellsworth and in Bar Harbor. We would definitely recommend the Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth and the hours were from 5 to 830 pm everyday and they do not take reservations and fill up fast. It is bigger than it looks. First room was with ac. Second room was a covered screen porch. Or sit outside under individual tables with canopies or tables with umbrellas or in Adirondack chairs facing the river! The food was very good, and our cocktails too. We had a great experience at the cottage and Cindy was very helpful answering all of my questions and promptly. G & D from N.H.

This camp was a restful stop after our daily excursions. It had everything that was needed. Not being from Maine my expectation was that we would be a bit closer to Acadia Park.

Always a great stay at Cindy’s spot. A wonderful week. Great location and accommodations. Hope to be back next year.

Our favorite place to stay in Maine- it really is ideal and the photos, with the exception of the view from the water up to the house, don't do it justice. It's a perfect camp, has everything we need. Great location, great host.

An ultimate pause from our daily task-filled lives! We swam every day in beautiful Patten Pond, perfect in all ways; and listened to the loons while reading —and just sitting —on the spectacular back deck. Best of all: our grand-pup couldn’t get enough of jumping off the dock into the pond! This is a just-right, tucked away place for a comfortable and private retreat and re-set.

This cabin is in a beautiful location overlooking Upper Patten Pond. It’s close to the lovely town of Ellsworth and convenient to Acadia, one of the most spectacular places in the US.
It’s quaint and has loads of character, and we enjoyed the quiet and solitude. The kitchen is tiny but fairly well stocked. The deck is quite large and offers great views of the water—we saw several beautiful sunsets there.
A few things that should be mentioned: The path to the pond is very steep, and there is no rail, which led to our decision to not rent kayaks—we weren’t sure how to get them down to the water safely.
While it is a two-bedroom cabin, this is best for a family rather than two couples (which we were) since one of the bedrooms has no real door. We purchased a shower curtain for privacy.
Going to the bathroom requires going out through the screened in porch, but the bathroom itself was quite nice.
The owner was very accessible and quick to respond when we had an issue with the toilet. She managed to find a plumber who came to the house while we were away for the day.

Lovely Getaway
We had a wonderful stay! The deck overlooking the water is amazing and we spent much of our time out there. Most importantly, the cottage was immaculate and had everything one could possibly need.
Thank you for a relaxing week down memory lane for my parent's 60the wedding anniversary.

Rustic cabin on a quiet pond
Very relaxing, but plenty to do and see. Private and quiet, we had the pond to ourselves to fish and enjoy.

The property is great place to get away, but still close to restaurants etc.

It's location was great everything we needed was there. The only thing negative was it could have been a little cleaner. Overall it was a great vacation.

Peaceful camp at a beautiful lake
Every step of the process from the reservation up to the day we checked out was smooth as could be! Cindy was a great host, she was very responsive to any questions we might have and provided detailed information about the property. The camp is very well stocked with just about anything you would need. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor seemed to be extra crowded during our trip; it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of the camp after a day of exploring. Thanks for having us, Cindy!

Lovely view of the pond—back home we would refer to it as a lake. Lots of windows, large deck and screen porch. Plenty of supplies in cupboards. Coffee and coffee maker. Toaster oven and propane stove. Dish detergent and cloths washing supplies. Plenty of towels and dish cloths. Nice pots and pans. Plenty of hot water for the 2 of us. Queen mattress was good and a heating pad under the mattress cover that is electric and can be regulated. A propane gas heater attached to wall in living area that was easy to ignite, no lighting a pilot to start it or the propane stove. What attracted me to the living room was 2 small recliners to use in the evening for sitting. The full bathroom was toasty warm with a standing electric heater that was very safe. To get to the bathroom one would go out of the living room, step onto the screened porch and enter the bathroom door from the screen porch. We were there in September so it only got down to mid 50s at night so not an issue to go to bath. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay. Nice retreat from the city. Cozy

A great vacation.
We had a wonderful and memorable trip to Upper Patten pond. From the moment walked in and took in the view of the woods and water we were happy. Harry, our 3 year old part Siamese was in heaven with the tall cat tree and screened in porch. The interesting thing is that the surroundings of lake and trees is quite similar to where we live in Pa. ,but the distance between camps was nice and a perfect location for short day trips around the area. Thanks,Cindy , for all the thought you have put into your place.

Still perfect
This is our second stay and it is so perfect. We swim, fish, canoe and cook every day. Not much reason to leave but so much nearby if we do. Would recommend to anyone.
