About this house rental
Situated in Kilauea, this charming house for $175 per night is a great choice for your next trip. RiverSong is nestled in two tropical acres alongside Kilauea River. The river sings below and waterfalls splash beneath your private, secluded lanai. Our gardens abound with color from red ginger, gardenia, orange and yellow heliconia, purple and pink bougainvilla and multi colored plumeria blossoms. Palm trees gently sway outside the wide windows and scarlet flame trees tower overhead. Our guest suite with queen bed & private bath and lanai overlooking the river($175/nt) is perfect for couples. Situated in the charming old plantation town of Kilauea we are close to private waterfalls, the South Pacific famed 'slippery slide,' hiking trails, kayaking and horseback riding as well as fine dining, boutique shopping and the Kilauea Lighthouse Wildlife Sanctuary, the northern most point of the Hawaiian Island chain. Nearby are many fine beaches for great snorkeling, sunning, bodybording and surfing as well as the renown Priceville Resort unsurpassed golf only five miles away. The magnificent NaPali coast and the hiking trailhead to Kalalau Valley are only 12 miles away at the end of one of the most beautiful, breathtaking, scenic drives you will ever find. We had a most lovely stay of 8 nights at River Song. Nicki, our host, is the owner of River Song. We had a great experience with Nicki and our morning breakfasts were exceptional.

We loved staying at this adorable B&B and would book here again in a heartbeat. The room is spacious and on it's own side of the house so you still feel like you have a lot of privacy. Beautiful views from the private lanai and we slept like babies falling asleep to the sounds of the river. Nicki was so nice and made the most delicious breakfasts every morning! Couldn't recommend this place enough.

The scenery from the house is unbelievably beautiful. The pace is very clean and well kept. It is the host that makes this place the best - extremely cordial, helpful, warm and hospitable. Anyone planning VRBO in Kauai, this is the first place you should check into!

Oh my, this was such a heavenly place to stay. Nicki is just delightful and she made our stay even more memorable. She was kind, gracious and so flexible with us. She is such a lovely person!
After flying literally all day, my husband and I walked into our beautiful room with the gentle breeze and sound of the river rushing by, and immediately felt the stress of the day melt away. It was breathtaking! So clean and well maintained. There is a small fridge and microwave if needed, fresh towels, a comfy bed and an incredible view from the lanai.
Every morning Nicki brought delicious breakfasts with a lovely presentation, which we ate on the lanai enjoying the beautiful gardens and river as the sun rose. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Thank you, Nicki!

Nicki is a charming and generous host. We stayed for a week and felt very spoiled by the time we left. She was available to answer questions and suggest some activities, but left you to enjoy her peaceful property. We found the Lanai was lovely for breakfast or dinner. The sound of the water passing by the property blocked all other noise so we felt like we were in our own oasis.

Me and my husband had a great stay! Nicki was a great host, so accommodating and great communication was provided. She provided us with great tips and recommendations throughout our stay. The breakfast provided was delicious, we looked forward to it in the mornings. Sleeping with the sound of the creek was definitely one of the highlights! We would definitely recommend and stay again! Where do we even begin? Nicki is an incredible host. From our arrival to the time we left. She sent us a list of activities prior to our arrival. She sent a recommended list of restaurants too. The room is INCREDIBLE… the bed was very comfortable, beach towels provided and cozy robes. You fall asleep to the lull of the waterfall and river every night. And are awoken each morning with a fresh, home cooked breakfast delivered to your room. From start to finish, it’s like staying at a 5 star resort, but in the comfort and privacy of a home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Especially for any first timers to Kauai!

My husband and I LOVED our stay. I truly don't believe you can beat the location, nor the beauty, of this place. With the time difference, we were up really early and always caught sunrise. We were able to make coffee in our room and hang out on the patio while the day brightened. By the time the sun was up, our breakfast was ready! Unfortunately, we were only able to squeeze in two breakfasts because we hiked early one morning, and had to head to the airport early on another. But the days we did have breakfast were delicious! The host was very respectful of our privacy. She would leave our breakfast outside our door in the morning and greet us when we returned for the day if she was around. She had great tips for the island and made our stay incredibly convenient, comfortable, and enjoyable. The amenities were fantastic and the space was always kept exceptionally clean. We loved having access to a cooler and beach towels, too! There is plenty of space here, the bed is very comfortable, and you are centrally located to so many north shore treasures on the island. We also loved being right next door to the Healthy Hut for late night snacks or a happy hour on our patio :). I truly cannot recommend this stay enough. We miss it terribly and would love to return!

This is a cozy, spacious private room that is perfect for a vacationing couple. It is within easy driving distance to Hanalei and the Na Pali coast, and there are solid dining/drinks options within Kilauea itself. Nicki is a fantastic host -- she is a great communicator, makes some seriously delicious, fresh breakfast for you every morning, and is just a wonderful person to get to know.

Nicki was an amazing hostess with a beautiful room in her gorgeous house in the Kauai mountains. We woke each morning to a yummy breakfast to eat on the balcony overlooking a rushing river. She was full of island information and always friendly. We highly recommend!

We stayed with Nicki over the New Year. We rented the upstairs bedroom, but when she discovered we had a four-year-old with us she volunteered her grandkids' bedroom rather than letting us put him on the pull-out in the room we'd rented. In this and other ways she gave us the run of the house (or rather crawl: we had a baby with us, too) and made us feel very much at home. The house, too, is really wonderful, a pleasure to see, and to stay in. The river nearby keeps the local temperature reasonable and provides wonderful white noise for sleeping, quite in addition to making for a beautiful view from the balcony.
She kept the place tidy and was unobtrusive, there when we wanted her, not when we didn't. She gave us excellent advice on where to go and what to do. The house itself is really lovely and a pleasure to be in, and Nicki is simply the perfect hostess.

I am ashamed that I have not written this review months ago. We stayed with Nicky in February, 2010 and, as experienced travelers and ardent b and b supporters, we have placed RiverSong at the top of our list of b and b's. Her guest room is exceptionally well furnished and comfortable.
Nicki is a wonderfully warm host who welcomes poeple into her lovely home, provides excellent breakfasts,and is a fountain of information about the history and attractions of this beautiful area. She is intimately aware of the details of local activities, "hidden" spots to find and she readily shares these with her guests.
RiverSong can be a refuge from the hurly-burly of travel where you can spend your time in peace listening to the river below your balcony or you can, with Nicki's help, find a multitude of things to see and places to go.
We had two unexpected events while with Nicki (the tsunami scare and a nearby house fire) and we admired her capacity to deal with both with intellgence, appropriate action and care for those involved.
All in all, we consider Nicki to be a true firend and look forward to a visit from her here on Vancouver Island sometime in the near future.

Someone once said, "Strangers are just friends we have yet to meet." Nicki is an absolutely wonderful hostess and quickly became a dear friend. She provided us with a lovely, tranquil "home away from home" and our time at RiverSong was both restful and restorative. We are planning to return as soon as we can to avail ourselves of the loveliness of RiverSong, Nicki's warm friendship and delicious morning meals. Thanks, Nicki.
