I stayed here for a few nights as part of my honeymoon. Overall the house and property were fantastic. The view was stunning (I'm not sure why they don't advertise that sunsets are stunning from this property - I'd be happy to provide a photo I took). The kitchen was well stocked and the grill high quality (I did not notice they offered to stock the refrigerator for you - I wish I took them up on that). The beach was very nice and generally quiet. Here are some suggestions I have for improvements:- It wasn't clear which gate to use or even which house was ours. It would be nice if the check in instructions were more clear (first gate, first house on right)- The home came with a cooler, chairs, and a beach umbrella. This was fantastic, but it should be noted in the home details so we don't bring our own. Furthermore, it would be nice to include a boogie board or basic snorkeling gear.- The home was mostly well stocked - plenty of dish washer pods and paper towels as well as bleach and fabric softeners. However there was no laundry detergent or salt / pepper. Preferably these are stocked, but if not please specify.- I'd suggest letting guests know they can drive most of the way to the beach - saves a lot of walking up hill!- I thought some of the reservation charges were a bit scandalous. Please just keep it to a straight nightly rate, deposit, and cleaning fee.Overall it was fantastic and I'd love to return.

I was so excited about this rental based on the reviews and pictures. I was immediately disappointed when we drove up to the gate. There were overgrown bushes around the gate and the gate had broken plywood holding it in place-very different from other gates we drove past on the same road. At the house, I initially thought it couldn't be our rental because it looked like no one had been there for a long time. Overgrown plants, plant debris, old outdoor furniture, and an old umbrella laying in the trees. The house was similar and dated. Old shades and furnishings and peeling wallpaper with a hole in the wall. Once we opened up the doors and shades, it felt a little better. Very secluded and lots of light from the windows and views of the ocean. Grill was dated, but usable. I wish the outdoor space was better because the view was amazing. Old chairs and no shade made the outdoor space almost unusable during the day. The hot tub was in good condition and that was wonderful at night to watch the stars. We took the LONG path to the ocean and the beach was amazing. Be prepared to do some hiking and climbing to get there though! Waves were unreal and whales were breaching. Not swimmable, but the beach was very relaxing and we enjoying sitting there. I loved the size of the home and location. It just needs simple cosmetic updates and a good cleanup outdoors to make it more appealing. Do the updates and add an infinity pool and I would live there forever!! I would recommend this property only if updates and changes are made. Not worth the price at all in this condition.

Amazing location with access to a beautiful very secluded beach. The property itself is old, outdated, and rundown with peeling wallpaper, and holes in walls, lizards and creepy crawlies are regular visitors. We reached out to the Hawaii Life host immediately upon check and never recd a response from the "local host". The AC is located in the living area and does not cool the bedroom, was warm but tolerable in October. Location a 5, the property is a 1.

Two things to keep in mind: the “walk” to the beach is more of a steep hike. Highly recommend driving your car down but be careful on the steep winding roads. Second and most important: the AC unit is wildly inadequate. The afternoon sun bakes the house and the AC can never recover in the master. It doesn’t get below 75/76. We used a portable window AC unit (<$300) that fixed it instantly. The property manager chose to not keep this cheap but effective fix for some reason but that’s all this place needs to earn a 5 star review

This house and property is truly paradise giving you the Hawaii feel. Out of the handful of beaches we visited around Kauai and Honolulu, the short hike down to “secret beach hideaway” was by far our favorite.

That said, that the air con unit in the cottage is not sufficient - the main room is fine, but the bedroom gets quite stuffy. Numerous people have commented on this in the reviews, although we thought we would give it a try anyway since it is listed as having air con and we thought it might be sufficient - but definitely not. For the price that you pay, it should be top of the line. Adding another unit in the bedroom is a simple thing that would go a long way for this property (and yes the wallpaper is peeling, but that's a small thing that doesn't really impact the stay).

My wife and I are normally resort pool/beach type people but this place was absolutely amazing. It showed you truly what Kauai was about.
Access to the beach was a cool little path and the beach was amazing. People would often come to look at this area for the sunset since it was so beautiful. Great house for a couple looking to explore this breathtaking island.

The nēnē welcoming party was worth it alone, but this home couldn’t have been more perfect for the Kaua’i segment of our honeymoon. Kauapea Beach literally is your backyard, and it was the perfect break from the busier beaches on the island. We had everything we needed, so we didn’t need to reach out to management, but they were in regular communication to ensure we had up-to-date details on important local information like storms and road closures. Thank you!!!

Pure enchantment! This was what everyone dreams about! Views were simply amazing from every spot on the property! Romantically secluded but only minutes from stores and restaurants. Access to one of the most beautiful beaches! The grounds were spacious and the backyard garden area was brimming with tropical flowers foliage and small pond. The indoor rain waterfall shower was a relaxing delight! Whales,birds,geckos,rainbows,crashing waves, star filled night skies!

Our stay was magical, scenery spectacular and the cottage location quiet except for the sound of ocean waves and distant roosters. The walk to the beach was well marked and beautiful, the beach below exceptional for a short stroll or ocean viewing. Private oasis
This was a beautiful private oasis. We had 34 acres to ourselves. With a walking path down to a beach with very few beach goers. The water at the beach he’s not really swimmable. However it was amazing having a secluded space to sit by the ocean and listen to the waves.

The cottage itself is nice, it has some wear for sure. Amazing place to stay, views are incredible - the private/personal beach access really made this place.
Outdoor shower was so pretty and enjoyable (hot water also!)
AC works well but only in the living room . The bedroom does get extremely hot and humid, even with the fans. Lucky we only experienced 82 degree weather so it wasn’t toooo humid.
It did rain our first day so we didn’t get to go to beach but the hot tub was a good 2nd
Saw beautiful rainbows in the morning and this is a west facing property so the sunset eveynight was amazing!

It was apparent that upkeep of the grounds was lacking for some time as fallen leaves and plant material were very noticeable upon our arrival.Leaves were pushed to the perimeter of the yard in piles, rather than removed, and was what we got to look at as we sat in the hot tub.In the bedroom, the closet hanger rod was completely broken and so were the curtain. Throughout the unit, wallpaper was pulling away from the wall in some areas. Light bulbs were mismatched and some were totally burned out.I actually have never given a review such as this and please know that there were many positives which were appreciated.The let-down was due to the expectation because it was a "Hawaii Life" managed rental and the price for the stay was significant that did not meet all expectations.

Huge Improvements - the Air Conditioner is a very very welcome addition. We would get the living room comfortable and the bedroom as well, with the fans set up to blow the cool are in. In previous years it's been miserably hot at times, but the property is so amazing you put up with it.
Some new drawbacks - maybe because we just came through Covid, elements on the property were looking rough. The other gate was broken so everyone used the gate right by the house.
One of the best aspects of the property before was privacy. It felt like you had the island to yourself. For the most part, that's gone. The trees and bushes between the two houses are gone and there is a huge new complex to the left of the other property. Not a ton of privacy anymore.
The beach is still amazing and one of the most scenic beaches I've ever been to.
I would really like to stay here again but will seek out a property that's more like the two of these used to be. If no luck, we would stay here again.
