It will make your trip easier and more enjoyable. Thank you! Also, we do not recommend using a GPS as we have received comments that it may lead you elsewhere. A Welcome Guide will be sent to you 3 days prior to your arrival with Directions, Door code, ect. The room is a cozy studio attached to the home with its own private coded entrance. It has a King Size bed, Bathroom, Microwave,Toaster, Coffee maker and refrigerator. It also includes cable TV and WiFi for your convenience. The carport is for your use during your stay. Please be aware of backing out from carport. WE NO LONGER ALLOW TRUCKS, VANS, JEEP WRANGLERS OR ANY OTHER LARGE VEHICLES ON PROPERTY. NO EXCEPTIONS! There is a two acre, private tropical garden with two teahouses, one overlooking a Koi Pond for your enjoyment. We are one mile from the Volcano National Park. The unit is only for adults age 25 and up. No smoking . $250.00 fee if smoking has occurred No drugs of any kind. Doing so will result in vacate order and police called . Do not bring outside guests onto property or into unit without prior permission Otherwise, we hope you enjoy the studio and the private garden. We are usually on property if you need anything or have questions. Aloha and Welcome!

We loved this stay in the rainforest at Jim’s location! The gardens/walkways were so beautiful and Jim was so kind to greet us! Close to volcano National park so was perfect for us after a long day exploring.

Loved staying here so close to Volcano Nat Park as it allowed us to get there early. Location of the house was very cool. Bed was comfy and the heated mattress pad was a HUGE plus. Host was great and cordial and had some water and snacks for us and also helped us retrieve a forgotten item easily. Definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and talking with our host, Jim. Loved the history of the place, and a walk through the acreage is not to be missed. We took our drinks and books down to the Tea House and relaxed as the sun set and the sounds of the birds echoed through the trees. No issues finding the place, just followed Jim's directions. Appreciate the loan of a little waffle maker for our breakfast. Thank you for sharing Kimalia with us!

This property was perfect for us. It is close to Volcanoes National Park, and the gardens are beautiful. Jim was a gracious and welcoming host. He suggested that we go to the local farmer's maket, and it was great. He also had a binder with local restaurant suggestions. We would definitely return!

For me this was perfect: a studio with kitchenette for breakfast and a warm shower and bed for the cool Volcano Village morning and evening. I did not have a car but love to walk and this accommodation is half way between my Volcano family and the Village - about a 15 minute walk.

We loved our short stay at Jim's Private Getaway. The room is large and comfortable, and the kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed. The home is on a two acre lot with a paths through the garden filled with vireya rhododendrons. I just wish we had more time to explore. Jim was a great host; he greeted us when we arrived and then left us to ourselves. The pricing was great and much more reasonable than neighboring accommodations. We had no problems finding the property using Jim's directions.

This was an extremely convenient location for a trip to Volcanoes National Park. The owner was communicative & friendly. The bed and furnishings were comfortable, and we appreciated the coffee provided in the morning since there is not much near the park itself. Would recommend you book this for your trip to Volcanoes!

This was the perfect location for our visit to VNP! The beautiful gardens on the property was an extra lovely surprise. The host was gracious and provided everything we needed. We enjoyed the sound of the rain on the jungle around us on our first night. We will be back.

The unit is a little rustic, but conveniently located to the National Park. It would be difficult to find after dark, so make sure you plan to get there before then. The host communicated well and was quick to respond when I had a question. The neighborhood was very quiet and the grounds were very tropical with beautiful plants and flowers. Overall, a good value, just don’t expect a posh resort.

Pros: quiet, secluded location, comfortable bed, usage of carport Cons: low shower head, few electrical outlets accessible near bed Other: foam vinyl toilet seat (some may like this, others don't); long, single lane road to access site (we only met one oncoming vehicle over the course of our 3-day stay)

I stayed here 2 nights to run the Volcano half marathon. It’s close to the Volcano Village & the National Park. Studio room was just the right size for 1 person or a coupe. Gardens are very nice to explore as well.

The Tropical Rainforest Garden rental room is located in the neighborhood down the road from Volcanoes National Park. It comes with a beautiful garden and koi pond which he maintains. Jim has a small cat on the property, but my wife (who is allergic) had no issues with the space we rented; Jim was careful to keep the cat from going into the space when we were talking in the driveway with the door slightly ajar. The space is spacious and comfortable (though the shower is a little on the smaller side). The kitchenette had everything we needed for our short stay and being so close to the park was very convenient. Definitely worth looking into if you want to stay near VNP!

We live on the Kona side and needed to come to Hilo for an appointment, so decided to make it an overnight at our favorite get-away spot, Volcano Village. The studio apartment worked out well for us as we were tired after the drive and the doctor apppointment. After checking in we realized that we had not completely understood the owner's restriction about vehicles in the carport. After messaging him to check to see if our Toyota Tacoma was ok, he allowed it, but rightly pointed out that there was verbiage in the online policies about it. We would have been happy to comply and park in the space just outside the carport, but Jim kindly let us stay in the covered spot. The apartment was clean and neat and suited our need to just relax for the evening before heading home the next day. We watched a bit of TV via Roku after visiting some of our favorite spots in the park. Unfortunately I overcooked some microwave popcorn and Jim sent a message inquiring to make sure we were ok, which we were (but I didn't notice it til the following morning). We rested well in this quiet spot and after making sure the unit was in tidy shape and dishes/coffee maker washed, we checked out early to try and get in a round of golf at the Volcano course...which now has 40 new carts! All in all a great overnite stay that suited our needs. Thanks Jim!

We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage. We decided to hop a flight over from Oahu to see the volcano and found this gem! It is set in the most beautiful gardens that you must explore! And the location is so convenient to the park! Jim was an excellent host and very easy to communicate with. I highly recommend staying here! We will be back for sure! Mahalo Jim!

Great stay at Jim's place, from the detailed instructions to the amazing location to the Volcano park. Got groceries on our way from the airport to the unit which had everything needed for making sandwiches and light dinner. We really enjoyed the coffee in the unit. Would definitely recommend!

Jim was a great host who made everything easy. The clean and spacious room had everything you need for a short or long stay and the bed was huge and very comfortable. I definitely recommend taking the time to walk the lush garden trails that extend from the house. The park is accessible from the property in just a matter of minutes. It was great home base especially for the short time we had on that part of the island. Unfortunately, the places I wanted to eat happened to be closed middle of the week but we reached out to Jim and he had some good recommendations about where to go. Thanks, Jim!

Jim was extremely easy to get in touch with leading up to and during our stay. The amount of love and care that has gone into the properties garden is astonishing an feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Would highly recommend any visitor take the time to explore the property because you don’t want to miss out. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay with easy access to volcanoes nation park.

Beautiful property including tea garden with tea houses and a comfortable studio surrounded with lush tropical foliage and delightful birds calling to each other. Studio has everything needed, especially comfortable bed, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, fluffy towels and toiletries. Our host was delightful and informative. We would stay here again just to enjoy the property if the opportunity presented itself.

Had a great 4 night stay here visiting Volcanoes NP and the surrounding area! The room was very nice and we had everything we needed. I highly recommend walking through the gorgeous gardens on the property.
