Sunset Cottages located on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, FL is the perfect spot for your beach vacation! This low-rise, 19-unit property is nestled along the white sandy beaches of The Gulf of Mexico and allows guests to enjoy a vacation filled with peace and uncrowded beaches. The courtyard style architecture puts the swimming pool in the center of the complex for easy access. Each unit has private balconies or patios allowing for a wonderful place to unwind. Enjoy nearby restaurants, entertainment, entertainment, and shopping. Retreat and relax while making great memories along the beaches of The Emerald Coast. This 1 bedroom/1 bathroom condo includes: A fully stocked kitchen for preparing meals, a dining area, and private patio. A living room with a queen size sleeper sofa and large flat screen TV. A set of twin bunk beds in the hallway (Great for the kids). A master bedroom with a king size bed, flat screen TV, a full-size bathroom. Washer and dryer in unit. Ground floor access to unit with easy adjacent parking lot. 12 Cup/K-pod coffee Center Keyless Lock- Self check-in Free wireless internet Solar heated swimming pool Grilling area Sidewalk to beach No elevator Beach Service Included (March 1-October 31st) 2 chairs and an umbrella We go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable: Plenty of pillows on each bed along with extra sheets and blankets if needed. Plenty of bath towels and beach towels. Starter set of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher soap, dish liquid, laundry detergent, bath soap, shampoo, and conditioner. All-purpose cleaner. One of the area’s only All Local dedicated teams. Always available if you need us. We have a pontoon boat that is rented exclusively to our guests. The boat needs to be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. The boat launches out of The Fort Walton Beach Yacht Basin. Discounted monthly rates available November- February. Our stay at Sunset Cottages 5A was better than we expected! Walking in we realized that it was one of the cleanest rentals we have every stayed in. Everything was just as pictured and we had everything we needed and more (towels, comfy beds/pillows/couch, coffee maker, dishes, etc). Our 5 year old LOVED the bunk beds and our 1 year old had lots of space to roam around (there was even a large playpen if needed). There were even a few kids books that they looked through each day! Walking to the beach was a breeze and it was so nice to be on the ground floor, steps away from the pool. The neighborhood was quiet, safe, and close to everything we wanted. Beach service is a great plus, not having to lug an umbrella around.
We had such a great time and loved staying here! We are grateful for such a nice place for our family. We will definitely be back!

The condo was perfect for our family. We were able to hang out on the beach the days that it was warm enough and on the days that the ocean was to cool our kids swam in the heated pool. We’ll definitely be back!!

Wonderful location. Beautiful condo. Stayed here in April with my family. Came back to stay again. Helpful staff. My only complaint is the bed was extra firm. I’m used to a much softer bed. But overall it was a great trip.

We loved this unit and will stay again! Great at communication and the master bed was amazing. Loved that the couch in the living room was a sectional that has a pull out part so you could have the bed and still part of the couch to sit on. So close to the beach and condo was well stocked. Nice that beach service is included in the condo price. She has a pontoon that is available for rent to people staying in her property and that was an amazing experience too!

Unit was very clean. We traveled with little kids and they let us in as soon as unit was ready. That meant a lot!
Host is really great! They answered all the questions we had prior the arrival. They also called to check if everything is ok and if we need anything.
Pleasant surprise was the kitchen. It was very clean and all the pots and pans as well.
Guys working on the beach are very friendly. The beach is really steps away from the unit.
Overall, really nice property. We didn't spend time on the pool at all, but it seamed a little small.

Love The Sunset Cottages. Would stay here again bc of the beach nearby and pool...but only on ground floor..no elevator. BUT not in 5A. Unless you like a REALLY EXTRA FIRM bed. Its like sleeping on a brick floor. Backaches galore. But cottage was decorated very nice, very pretty. Hooks in the bathroom which i love when at a beach. Toilet was fickle about flushing tho. But overall...SUNSET COTTAGES are fantastic!

5A Great Stay
We had a great stay. Unit was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Unit furniture had been updated from the pictures online. Sofa is super comfortable. Short walk to beautiful beach. And beach chair/umbrella service is included with stay. Check in/out procedures were great and simple. Will definitely stay again.

The condo overall was wonderful!! It was just as the description said steps to the pool and beach which was great especially when you have children!! The only complaint would be it needed more storage for clothes and the upstairs neighbors were noisy. I will definitely be coming back to stay and will recommend this property to family and friends!!

Great Time
Needed a place for our family to stay while we were in Ft. Walton for my daughters softball tournament. All 5 of us had plenty of room in the condo. It was nice to walk out the door and go to the pool. It was a very short walk to go over the bridge to get to the beach. We were able to use beach chairs and umbrellas already placed on the beach daily. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stay here again.

Family of 5
Sunset Cottages is a very small and slightly older complex but the location is wonderful, close to everything, including the beach. The pictures on the listing are outdated because the unit was renovated with what looks like new kitchen appliances and new living room furniture, both of which made the unit better. There were 5 of us in the unit and we fit pretty nicely, thanks to the bunk beds. The only two things that I would say that maybe needed a little heads up were that the top bunk bed doesn't really have a railing to protect against falling because the mattress is quite high and comes up to the end of the railing; therefore, if you have younger children, the top bunk may be a bit scary/problematic. And the bathtub kept getting clogged and would stop draining, we had to unclog it a few times. Otherwise, this unit is a great deal and the management company is super responsive (we had some questions around 9pm our first night and were able to talk to someone who helped).

Great Family Vacation
I was thoroughly impressed by this property. We had a great time and look forward to doing it again in the future. The property included so much to make it easy for families with kiddos. The beach was super close and beautiful. The softest sands I've ever felt were at the beach by this property.

Nice place
We liked the house. The kitchen had everything we needed. It had everything to cook with. Nice appliances! The fridge was very nice. The location was awesome, almost right on the beach. A 1 minute walk on the side walk led you to beach. It was perfect for our small family. My only complaint is, in the bathroom during our stay, we found a pair of womens underwear tucked in behind the toilet on the floor. I dont know how that was missed if the bathroom had been cleaned and mopped well. We left them. Other then that our stay was great.

Wewerevery unhappy with our stay the place need lots of work it was unsafe as the doors off the kithchen you just pull and they come open not secure and the ice maker didn’t work no key lock when we got there had to call and the place was dirty

It was a great location. Very clean. And the beach was beautiful. The only problem I had was the bed. It was as hard as a rock . I woke up feeling like I slept on the floor.

Rude property manager
I didn’t know I couldn’t hang wet beach towels out to dry. He very rudely let me know it makes our place look trashy. I understood but he needs to learn how to talk to people

Family time
Staying on the first floor was a mistake. Very noisy property. Also, other renters do not follow the pet rules. Two very large dogs were on the property and barking. Two smaller dogs were barking at everything.

Nice place
Great location on Okaloosa Island near the beach and restaurants. Cozy, well-appointed 1 bedroom that sleeps a total of 6 (although would be a bit small for 6). There was quite a bit of noise from the upstairs residents, which made is seem more like living in a first floor apartment than condo. Other than that, no complaints at all. FYI, if you want to eat at Stewby's get there early, as the line gets out of hand beginning around 6 p.m.

Florida get away
My family of 5 stayed in this condo. It was a little small, but we still enjoyed our stay.
The space was clean. Kitchen had most of the supplies needed to cook. Beach towels and a beach chair were available for our use. Also essential toiletries and plenty of bath towels. The pool area is small but quaint. The outdoors space remained me of that show “Melrose Place” We met other families who were staying and our kids had fun in the pool. While we shared the patio tables and grilling space.
The walk to the beach was very short and quickly became my morning walk with a coffee in hand. The beaches are so beautiful and we really liked the location on okaloosa island.
We are already planning our next trip and would happily return to Sunset Cottages. There were only a few suggestions regarding maintenance which I left on a notepad in the condo. (Nothing that affected our enjoyment) the biggest complaint (if we had one) was that the people above us were very loud and up until 3am at times. Over all, we were very pleased with our time there.

Wonderful Family Vacation!
Our family had a wonderful stay at Sunset Cottages! This was our first stay in Fort Walton on the island. Our condo was very spacious for a family of 4. The in condo washer and dryer was a great bonus that I did not feel like would be needed but came in very handy. The complex was very nice and the locals were wonderful & inviting!! The room and pool were both very clean& our children loved the heated pool!! The only complaint we had was that for our young children, the bunk bed railings were not high enough. They slept on the pull out couch, which for adults was not the most comfortable mattress. The pool is very close to the room, as if it was in your back yard! The beach is very close as well!! Our 8 year old & 4 year old never once complained about having to walk to the beach! We look forward to visiting again in the future!
I also rented the beach wagon, which we did not use due to the beach entrance having stairs. We felt that it would be more work to lift it up and down the stairs than just carrying our toys, chairs & bag. We did use a rolling cooler.

Disappointed
Beautiful place! Very cozy like home away from home. New washer and drier. Bed was still the same bed we stayed in 4 years ago. Could use a new mattress. Pool needed cleaning. Someone let their dog in pool area. And noisy neighbors above us. They got up around 4:00am and you could hear stomping and woke us up. Not quiet at all. Needs new flooring on second floor.I would have five 5 star but that was a downer. And I didn’t like having to leave early before my trip was through. Have to be out by 10:00am. Construction going on next door and we were not aware. Took peace away from stay. Was better few years ago. Rained every day and pool rules to be out by 10pm.

The condo was very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. Lots of extras - beach chairs, plenty of beach towels, and everything you need for the kitchen. Plenty of cleaning supplies also. Plenty of room for our family of 3.
