The rooms were a good size and they had good breakfast options.
The staff were not helpful
They advertised yoga as $12 but it was $35
I felt pressured to do the zip line from the receptionist after I had expressed I had a fear of heights. I had a panic attack. When i asked for refund they wouldn’t give me one even though the experience was distressing.
You need to have a car as there no shops or paths near by to walk. The closest shop 5k away.

Die Unterkunft ist super ausgestattet, sehr modern und perfekt um als Alleinreisende in Kontakt zu kommen.
Das Restaurant ist leider qualitativ sehr schlecht. Die Bilder sehen super aus aber was man bekommt ist nicht schmackhaft. Das Frühstück ist gut aber alles andere war enttäuschend. Man musste 1,5h auf das Essen warten (nicht nur einmal, sondern täglich)

The location was amazing just by all the major attractions.
The room we stayed in was nothing like the one on the pictures. It was very shady and humid. Sadly we realized that after we checked out.

The first receptionist we met was super helpful and he really went above and beyond to give us all the info we needed about tours. Our first room was lovely (a private room), felt very luxurious and the hot tubs outside was a nice touch for everyone to use.
The second room we were in was a shared bathroom room and the walls were very thin so you could hear the neighbours.

Service ist extrem langsam und unfreundlich. Besonders im Restaurant dauert alles ewig. Wenn man Frühstücken will, sollte man einplanen über 30 Minuten aufs Essen warten zu müssen, sehr schlecht, wenn man morgens eine Tour hat
Zimmer sehr klein, kein Föhn, Fliesen im Bad hatten Sprünge, keine Heizung
Die Betten waren winzig und die unbequemsten, in denen ich seit langem geschlafen habe

Mooi terrein, fijne kamer, veel zitplekken en gemeenschappelijke ruimtes, mogelijkheid tot zelf koken en koelkast gebruiken is fijn. Heel vriendelijk personeel dat helpt bij activiteiten boeken.
Erg gehorige kamers, deur met polsbandje werkte niet 100% (eenmaal waren we bijna ‘‘s nachts buitengesloten). In het restaurant is altijd een haardvuur aan. Erg gezellig, maar de schoorsteen werkt niet goed waardoor er een ongezonde rooklucht hangt.

Líbila se mi restaurace, s místem pro odpočinek. Kuchyň super, knihovna .
Nelíbila se mi lokalita ubytování , všechno je strašně daleko , v pokojích byla večer opravdu zima , spala jsem u okna které neslo zavřít, personál mi nechtěl vyměnit postel, restaurace je velice drahá , za ručník si musíte za půjčení zaplatit 3$, personál je arogantní. Určitě bych se sem už nevrátila .

Unique and creative design, hostel creates an inviting and comforting community for solo travellers. Workers were lovely. Location is incredible. Walked up to the hummingbird sanctuary and seen an entire family of monkeys on the walk.
Bed was too hard for my preference, but the rooms were beautiful!

The outdoor jacuzzis are great way to end a long active day. Rooms are new and clean, restaurant and the restaurant staff are lovely. It’s just next to Cloud Forest so perfect place if you want to go there early in the day without a car/shuttle.
Far away from the center so you’re dependent on the restaurant there but the food was good. Some of the receptionists (not Diego) were really unfriendly and not doing their jobs right. I was charged for a trip I haven’t attended and I was given wrong info many times that if I didnt ask few times about my shuttle I was going to miss it because they didn’t book it correctly.

Alejandra (de recepción) fue muy amable. La habitación era grande y cómoda. Tiene zonas comunes muy bonitas, incluyendo la cocina que además es muy completa. El desayuno (que conviene incluir con anticipación) es bastante contundente, las comidas en general son exquisitas con valores dentro del promedio. Ofrecen varios tours y son con transporte además.
No nos ofrecieron welcome drink, y sabemos que es habitual en los Selina, tampoco nos informaron que era más barato comprar el desayuno por la aplicación del hostal. Las ventanas de la habitación no cerraban por completo.

The facilities are great, original. You can meet new people. The restaurant is great, plenty of options, a bit more expensive though. Stuff is super helpful, I haven’t plan anything in advanced, yet I was able to book all that interested me within one reception visit. Also transportation was easy thanks to shuttle buses. Definitely recommended.
Not much, just that dormitory was very small for 6 people.

De tours die ze aanbieden kan je 20% goedkoper vinden, de prijs op booking.com was 32 euro lager dan wat ze aangerekend hebben op de credit card, ze raden precies enkel activiteiten aan waar ze zelf voordeel uit halen .. jammer

It's a very luxurious hostel. We we're pleased with all the lounge areas where we could relax and talk. There's also a nice jaccuzi. We meet a lot of other travellers and everyone was nice and interested in our trip. There are even group events and tours every day if you want to take part in it.
It was a bit far from the city. We had to walk a good 30min to get to another restaurant or art galeries. The hotel is 5km away from the nearest big city Santa Elena.

C'est Seline ! :) super boisson de bienvenue, les activités ; belle communauté que vous pouvez rencontrer. Si vous n'avez pas encore découvert cela, je vous le suggère vivement!!! Les chambres privées sont spacieuses, serviettes, gel douche, shampoing, après-shampoing fournis. Les espaces communs sont superbes, il y a une zone de bar, une zone principale où vous pouvez jouer à différents jeux. Ils ont également des piscines extérieures, chaudes et froides. Beaucoup d'espace pour ranger vos affaires, grande télévision. Vous pouvez profiter d'une Special offer avec eux : 2 boissons pour le prix d'une.
La seule chose est qu'ils ne nettoient pas votre chambre si vous restez plus d'une nuit. Et il n'y avait pas d'électricité ni d'internet le 10 janvier, nous n'avons pas été informés à ce sujet.

The location is only 20 mins walk up to the national park.
The hostel feels a bit remote but I liked that about it as it was a couple of days to slow down on my travels.
The food is expensive and over priced for the quality. I would suggest you avoid it. $11 for breakfast is ridiculous. There is much better cafe 15 mins walk down the hill.

Cool hotel, beautiful scenery. Mixture of hotel and hostel style.
It is far from santa elena and thus far from everything but the cloud forest. The walls of the rooms are very thin and thus the wind (and it is always windy) is very loud. The rooms are also pretty cold but there is a small heater that one can use. Makes for some cuddly nights ;)

Das Zimmer war sehr feucht. haben dann nach einem Entfeuchter-Gerät gefragt und eines bekommen, dann ging es besser. Es wäre alles wirklich außergewöhnlich gut, wenn das Zimmer standardmäßig mit einem Entfeuchter ausgestattet wäre. Selina würde sich damit auch selbst einen Gefallen tun, da die Wände sonst innerhalb kurzer Zeit schimmelig werden.

Schöner Lobby- und Yoga-Bereich, Whirlpools im Aussenbereich.
Diverse Touren direkt an der Rezeption buchbar.
Zu Fuss etwas weit entfernt von Santa Elena (1h). Restaurant in der Lodge gut, aber teuer und rund um Lodge kaum Alternativen sofern man kein Auto hat.

We really liked the common areas and the restaurant (vegan options!). The rooms we stayed in (standart rooms) were quite spacious. There was towels available for showering too.
We were also able to book a ziplining tour through the hotel reception for a same-day tour which was nice.
We didn't like that there weren't real windows in the rooms, instead there was mosquito nets which had many holes in them. Essentially, we ended up with many mosquito bites during that one night we stayed here.
Also, the hotel is in a location that makes you quite car dependent.

No problem parking. Enjoyed the activities around Monteverde!
The location while pretty is very far out of town. Not in walking distance to anything. It gets windy and cold on top of the mountain. The staff was okay but not overly friendly or helpful. Service was slow! Hard if you are trying to eat before going on a tour. We ordered nachos and queso and 45 minutes later had to leave before food arrived and still had to pay. We had told them we had a time limit and asked if it would work. It was not exceptionally clean. We stayed 3 nights and struggled to get towels. Towels in the rainforest once wet don’t dry easily!

This hostel is GORGEOUS!!! The whole compound is beautiful, with plants everywhere. The facilities were amazing- a hot tub, a restaurant/bar with a pool table and open fire for when it’s cold, an amazing co-working space with fast WiFi! The showers were great and the bedrooms are clean and very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!
The hostel is very far out of town and taxis will cost about $10 each way, but there is a bus during the day. The hostel and restaurant were pricey but pretty standard for Costa Rica!

- Restaurant is nice and food of good quality, idem for the drinks. There is pool table and bricks game the kids enjoyed.
- The distance to the monteverde cloud forest
- We first thought of extending our stay and saw the rate was almost half price of what we paid (also for the days during our stay), we checked for a reduction or at least the actual rate for the extension, but not possible. If you see you pay almost double of what you should, you feel cheeted.
- For the activities, they recommend you all the paying ones, but forget to tell you you are next to monteverde cloud forest. The night walk we did was way too commercial, good for who likes big crowds. The one we organized ourselves was great, for smaller price but all by ourselves with the guide.
- At 9pm they close the commun bar/sitting place, even when full of people.

Very thin walls. Right now, it's 5 a.m. and I am listening to someone hacking, spitting, and coughing. The food at the restaurant is more expensive than in the USA and the quality is just O.K.

The staff (expect from one girl at the reception with brown hair and gladsses) so was unfriendly. You totally don’t feel welcome and you struggle to see a smile. They are very strict with rules and the vibe is certainly not a Hostel.
Absolutely in general overpriced, the rooms are not soundproof at all. If you are sleeping in one of those rooms next to the shared bathroom you will 100% sure to hear what is going on inside there…
Location is 40 minutes from the little town, very steep and not justified.
Tours and excursions are overprized.

Nice hostel with many private rooms as well. Nice atmosphere and very closely located to the entrance of the Monteverde national park. Good breakfast.
The coffee is really overpriced, almost 6 dollars for a cappuccino is ridiculous, especially in a hostel. The hostel is quite far away from the restaurants in the village and the road to the hostel is quite bumpy.
