Romantica treehouse was just the perfect location for our 25th wedding anniversary.

The breakfast was fantastic and brought to our room at the time we chose. Lots of food with 4 choices on the menu as well as juice, coffee and fruit. Absolutely delicious and included in the price. Location was great....near the Cloud Forest and out of the hustle and bustle of Santa Elena. The forest was beautiful and sound of the breeze blowing through the trees.

Delightful stay

The location is spectacular. The cloud forest is very close. One can walk to either the parking lot (1km), where they have a shuttle bus to the entrance gate or to the entrance gate (4km). We saw cars parked alongside the road near the entrance gate so they didn't have to pay to park. The cottage is adorable. Christina is very helpful. She helped us with arranging tours. She and her husband served a beautiful breakfast each morning. We had a small green toucan knock on the window each morning at 630am. The cottage is well stocked with cooking supplies. There is a stove and a small refrigerator, dishes, silverware, pans, and preparation tools. One could easily prepare meals here. The heart motif is fun. My husband created more hearts with the curtain ties.

In the evening, there was a strange odor coming from the bathroom. We were thinking the plumbing venting wasn't working well. We only had this occur at night. It was gone by morning. The wifi was spotty and did not work 100% off the time. However, we were able to connect 100% of the time near the entrance off the road (20mts).

Amazing host, beautiful place

Host was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful! Felt like we were part of their family. Cute cabin, plenty of space, beautiful area, convenient location, wifi and shower worked well. The hosts would bring over breakfast for us in the morning at what ever time we wanted. They even did our laundry for us, which was so sweet. We had a great stay!

Quiet spot in nature

Very personal touch and sweet family-run business. Got a hand-delivered breakfast to our cabin in the morning and recommendations for how to spend the day and make the most of our limited time in the area.

Wifi/reception wasn't the most stable, but that wasn't the prime reason for our stay.

Great Value and Great Breakfast!

Monteverde itself is cold. this place had good blankets on the bed to keep us warm.

Superb

Cosy, quiet cottage outside the touristy Santa Elena. it's in walking distance to monteverde cloud forest reserve. Hosts were very friendly and helped with reservation of a night walk.

Because it's a little outside of Santa Elena I would recommend to have a rental car.

Overall great people in a great place

First off let me start with the fact that there were four of us. Christina upgraded us to cabin 3 that has a queen bed and a sofa bed. Also the reservation was off by a day, but thankfully it is the off season here and we were able to change days. The bed was moderately comfortable, although the sofa bed not so much. With two people you will be fine. The room itself has excellent location and a slight jungle setting. We loved that part and breakfast was exceptional as well. I’d stay here again in a second if we were a smaller group. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay great.

Well beds were a little uncomfortable, and the toilet did back up a few times. The electric shower head has a learning curve, but was ok in the end.

Rustic charm, a relief from busy Santa Elena; as named, perfect for a romantically-minded couple.

The peace and tranquility of the location & its proximity to the Cloud Forest NP; the breakfasts were nice too. The friendly host(s) and their kitten.

Well, there was an initial significant confusion around which of the three separate lodging facilities here we had booked. In the end we stayed in our expected unit for only 50% of our stay. This is superior to the only other available (the 3rd is currently not available) in many ways - far larger, with a canopy balcony being on an upper level, and indeed furnished better. The smaller unit would probably be absolutely fine for a couple, but we were three and this really didn't suit us.

The host was very friendly. We were in cabina 2 as family (4 people) and it was too small for us. Especially as it was raining and cold outside. But Cristina was understanding.

beautiful location, wonderful hosts - a great place to spend a few nights - very close to the National Park entrance. Christina can also easily arrange any activities you’re interested in. Great breakfast too!

I stayed in canine #3, it was very pretty, clean and equipped. Cristina is very nice and helpful. It’s at a walkable distance to the park. Breakfast was very delicious. I would stay again.

Don't book here! It should be called creepy cottages!!

Absolutely nothing! Finding alternative accommodation at Fonde Vela!

Property is not as advertised! It is dirty with cigarette ash on the floor a broom on the bed. There is a strong chemical smell that burns your eyes! We couldn't breathe! It is far away from anything and requires you to walk down an unlit road to access. This property is not fit for tourists accommodation! Be warned as they have a no money back policy!

A beautiful kept place amidst a gorgeous forest patch. Very quiet and tranquil. Also really great to be able to support the smaller places, run by Costa Rican people. Cristina is an amazing host!

Cabin in the woods well placed for reserves

The property was nicely designed with a rustic look. It had everything we needed so we could self cater. The bed was comfortable. It was nice to have a small sofa, and we were glad to have the option of a small heater some evenings, even though we had jerseys and down body warmers. The shower looked odd but provided hot water when we wanted it. The property is surrounded by trees and the adjacent property means no view through, but it was nice when sun came through and lit up the high balcony. Bird life was limited, but we were visited by parrots one day and enjoyed the antics of brown jays in the morning.

The very steep curved gravel driveway to the property. Would have been exceptionally difficult if no 4WD. Even with 4WD backing up was effort, although a bit easier with practice. We had expected payment to be in advance by credit card, so it was not convenient to be asked to pay in cash. We had to make a special trip to Santa Elena to find a cash machine and our payment due was only just under the maximum daily limit. Traffic was heavy in Santa Elena and parking difficult in the town centre. The wind blows hard at night so the sound of leaves rattling on the roof was surprisingly noisy.

Pleasant

Mishap: on arrival no one to have the information and no email communication to inform us. Finally, we take the initiative to call. We realize that the cabin we rented in January, was occupied by another couple. The owner assigns us another smaller cabin with much less comfort. Even though we understand that error is human, we have been very disappointed. The owner offered to do our laundry for free to compensate.

Sweet cabin near Reserve

Christina is an excellent, fun owner. Welcoming, helpful, super cheerful, speaks decent English. Cabin was clean, kitchen equipped ( no blender or oven but otherwise fine). Awesome location very close to Monteverde Reserve. Christina got us a super guide in the Reserve.

Cabin was small for three. But adequate .

Wonderful and comfortable place at a great price

Cabin was very comfortable and had a kitchen which had everything we needed to cook. Cristina was very friendly and helpful. Water was nice and hot - always nice! Price was excellent for the quality of the place with all the extras like little chocolates (which I love)! Close to Monteverde Cloud Forest.

I couldn't improve on what Cristina has to offer!
