very disappointed with this hotel - it looked very worn out with a lot of dark wood which didn't help with its appearance - it definitely needed a severe update.... the room was very dark & a strange set of obscured glass windows at the back of the room made it very eerie & the wind rattled through one of them which made it very unsettling as you didn't know what was behind... the carpet needed replacing and the bathroom was very outdated. The restaurant for the evening meals was however, nicely decorated but the breakfast room was very sparse and the menu was very restricted with very small portion sizes - also they were very mean with the drinks. Got the impression that COVID restrictions had been used to keep the costs down by continuing to serve you at the table despite the fact that there was a breakfast buffet area at the side that had definitely been in operation at some point in the past with a toaster & space for a buffet spread. However instead we were served a small plate of fruit & then a small plate of a cooked choice which was very limited in options ( approx 3 to be precise) & sadly the options didn't even change from day to day... It was one of the furthest hotels in Monteverde and I think the windiest !!...
