About this condo rental
Nestled in Highlands, this attractive condo for $225 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Welcome to Highlands, North Carolina! If you're looking for a VRBO that is walking distance to most everything, then look no further. Lose yourself in the luxury and sophistication that Highlands has long been known for as a guest at our apartment. Light and bright, the open concept creates a cozy yet spacious experience where you can relax or entertain in a modern meets rustic setting. Features include a fully equipped kitchen with gas range and granite counter tops, office nook for a working vacation, oak floors in the living area, laundry room with iron/ironing board, two porches and private parking for two vehicles. In addition to the king size bed in the bedroom, we also have an EZ Bed Air Mattress elevated on legs with a cozy mattress topper for an additional 1-2 guests that can be set up in the living area, if needed. A fun fact; the living area was once the dining hall of an old estate home situated above Founders Park. The pulley windows and coffered ceilings bring in the old Highlands character that is now hard to find. The apartment is on the second floor of a two story building, located above our Green Mountain Builders office. As transplants to the area, we understand how easy it is to fall in love with Highlands and the surrounding area. This apartment is comfortable and spacious. Heating could be improved upon and outside lighting on steps would be helpful
We had a minor issue during our stay but the owner was very fair in resolving the matter

Check in was not good. Lock box is antiquated and if you are not careful the box and key is likely to fall in one of numbers cracks on the deck which is difficult to retrieve, which is what happened to us. In addition to that there are no paper products (toilet paper and paper towels) or bath soap provided. These items we have always found provided in VRBO's which we have stayed in.

You can't go wrong with this home. It's all you need and then some. Also, a very convenient location - walking distance to the Old Edwards Inn and the rest of downtown Highlands. I'd stay there again!

Absolutely love staying at this property. It’s the perfect location for us! We can easily walk to town for shopping and restaurants! Close to fishing areas for my husband. Wonderful surrounding areas for walking, hiking, and sight seeing. The interior is beautifully decorated with a lot of original architecture elements. One of our favorite places to visit!

From start to finish our stay was top notch. I don't think I can overstate the convenience of this location if you want the downtown experience of highlands. We walked everywhere the entire weekend, we didn't start the car once! We could not recommend this place enough!

My wife and I were in town for the Bear Shadow Festival and to visit Highlands. The cabin was perfect for us. It was right in the heart of Highlands and in walking distance to everything. It was well-furnished and updated, including heated floors in the bathroom. Mary and Steve were great hosts and replied immediately when we told them we forgot our coffee grinder and asked if they had one. Steve brought one over that evening so that we could enjoy coffee on the front porch the next morning. We can't wait to plan a trip back and will definitely stay there again.

Very nice apartment. Very clean & had everything we would need. Heated floors in the bathroom (for those cooler nights). Little market across the street for late night munchies and easy walking distance to Main Street, restaurants & shops. Breweries & breakfast places really close to the apartment. Highly recommend.

Great spot! Cute, clean, well equipped and an easy walk into downtown. Would totally stay here again. A small suggestion for the owner: add a mirror over the chest in the bedroom so couples don't have to fight for the bathroom mirror. ;)

We needed to shift our stay by a day to arrive early ahead of winter storm Elliott. Thankfully the property was available and the owners were more than gracious saying “not a problem”. Communication was excellent throughout the stay.
The location is great but with the colder than normal temps we were not able to walk that much.
The property was well stocked and the washer dryer was a great bonus. The propane heater was very nice, but we found it a bit of a challenge to regulate the temps along with the baseboard heaters. Not anyones fault with the wild swings -8 at one point an 27 degrees when we left. However upgraded windows would help.
Living area is very spacious and the gas cooktop was great.
All in all a great stay to one of our favorite places.

Very close to main street and all the shops. Gas station is 5 steps away from the unit. The listing was exactly as shown in the pictures and the bathroom just finished a remodel. Owner was more than happy to provide any thing we needed and offer a little more insight about the town. If we ever are back in the highlands area we will be staying here again. Everything needed and more was inside the unit and at our disposal.

Easy walking distance from downtown which has many quality restaurants. Comfortable furniture. Balcony with outdoor furniture. Couple blocks from Kelsey Park which has multiple events and concerts. Block away from pickle ball courts. Gas grill. Owner very responsive.

Great little getaway
So close to everything, only a few blocks walk to the Botanical Gardens/Biological station, Bascom Arts Center (taking back streets) and of course the center of town. Several restaurants are within a stones reach and hiking Whiteside Mountain a few miles away. This apartment has everything you need for a short or longer stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time. Many thanks to Mary and Steve for sharing their Highlands gem.

Wonderful and convenient stay in Highlands
Had a great time at this property. It's only 3 blocks from Main Street. You can walk everywhere in town. Went to a outdoor concert two blocks away and a concert at the new Performing Art Center another night which was also two blocks away. Two decks, one in the front and one on the side. Spent a lot of time reading and drinking wine on both decks.

We truly had a great time, you cannot beat the location! We absolutely loved walking everywhere we needed to go! The atmosphere and vibe in highlands is so kind and welcoming we felt very comfortable walking and walking at night. The rental was perfect for my girlfriend and i, roomy and comfortable for sure! Our only downside was as soon as we arrived the floor heater was on and the house was HOT it took so long to create a cooler space. On Saturday there was also some extensive lawn care maintenance with large machinery on the property that was awkward to look at and step around while coming and going but we managed and had a blast!
