About this house rental
Nestled in Seward, this lovely house for $570 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This is a beautiful, custom-built log home located just outside of downtown Seward. The previous owners spent ten years building the house, and cut down and hand-peeled all the logs themselves. It's a true Alaskan work of art. We purchased the home in 2007, and live in a cabin just across the driveway. We are around to help with local activities and information and make sure you get the most out of your vacation! We're happy to engage and assist in any way we can, but we also respect your private space. This house provides a very comfortable home-away-from-home while you're traveling, with all the amenities. The full kitchen is there for your use, there are large common areas - a huge slate fireplace surrounded by leather couches, Smart TV / VCR / DVD / High speed Wi-Fi / Stereo, a grill and hot tub on the large front deck, a small covered back deck, etc. We have a washer / dryer and beautiful laundry room available for guest use. The house is modern and very clean, but cozy and comfortable. End your day relaxing in the hot tub or grilling out your fresh catch. We have a fire pit with firewood and horseshoe pits that guests are welcome to use. We do limit the number of people using the house to the people listed on the rental agreement, at a maximum of 10. Our pricing is a base cost for 6 people. Beyond those first 6 guests, up to the 10-person maximum, there is a $20 / person / night charge. ** Please note that we do have Ring security cameras on the two entrances to our personal cabin on the property, as well as one at the garage area of the lodge building, and one by the back shed. There are no cameras inside the lodge, and no cameras that will sense motion or audio on the deck or your private areas of the lodge. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. These cameras are in place for security reasons only.

Welcomed with a plate of home made chocolate chip cookies. Clean, charming cabin with lots of history and character. Owners friendly and helpful. Plenty of room for spreading out, quite time when wanted. We enjoyed the hot tub. Clean. Everything we needed was provided plus extras to make it like coming home.

Nine of us stayed here for my daughter's beach wedding in Seward in late August and it was the perfect Alaskan log cabin the large group. Lots of room to spread out, big kitchen with all the things you need to prepare meals, and a huge yard with a fire pit for smores. You couldn't ask for nicer host than Wendy. Even though they live on property, you would never know you had a neighbor, but she was always there if we had a question. She even took a video of a mama bear and her two cubs visiting our deck one day and shared it with us! Overall a great experience.

The cabin was gorgeous and the location was just so beautiful. It was super easy to find and the instructions were clear. For our large group the place was perfect and had all the amenities we might require.
Wendy was so sweet and attentive to all the questions and queries the group might have had.

This house was definitely one of the best properties I’ve ever stayed at. The home was beautiful, very clean, had a well stocked kitchen, and had everything we needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The owner lives right next door and made us feel right at home. The property is also a 10 minute drive to Seward and has plenty of room for big families. I can’t say a bad thing about this property and hope to stay there again one day.

We were so happy with our stay at the Bear Paw Lodge! So much space and so many amenities. Perfect for our group of 10 adults. The abundance of towels, cups, plates were key! We loved having a movie available to wind down at night and being close to town but also out in the quiet neighborhood.
Wendy was an excellent host and was very communicative! She also helped us book our glacier cruise adventure. We would be so happy to return to Seward again.

Bear Paw Lodge was the perfect space for our group of 7. Two families with 4 adults and 3 kids. The lodge was in a great location close to Seward and in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room for everyone including the kids. The lodge is super cozy and warm and we looked forward to coming home every day after adventuring. We loved the recycling bins and the Sonos speaker system

We had a great stay and loved that the property was in Seward, but away from the campground and craziness that comes with the Fourth of July. We loved the hot tub and the space of the cabin was great. It was SUPER well equipped specifically the kitchen and made it easy to cook meals and prepare food. There are specific rules about guest limits and use of amenities so make sure to know your exact group size when booking. Also some of the checkout steps took a little time so make sure to plan ahead for the time needed. We would stay here again and thought the cabin was beautiful. The owners were also very quick in replying and helpful!

This is a great place to stay if you’re visiting Seward with a family or larger group of people. Amazing log cabin located close to town in a quiet neighborhood. Lots of room. Clean. Great deck & hot tub. Wendy, the owner, is a great communicator. She’s helpful and attentive & seems to genuinely care about her guests. Check in / out was easy. I can’t say enough about this place!

We loved experiencing this true log cabin. Thank you for including the book you created on the history of the home, that was fun to read. The location was great for going to Seward or Exit Glacier. The home has lots of towels, we really appreciated that! It was a lot bigger than we expected. We also had fun playing some of the games provided. Everything was there that we needed. Our family of 4 stayed at Bear Paw Lodge for 3 nights. This house is huge and the cleanest rental we have ever stayed at. Wendy has gone above and beyond with directions on how to use just about everything, which makes things a bit easier. The Lodge is beautiful and has lots of space. It was a bit of a splurge for the 4 of us (as it sleeps many more) but we were coming from a week in a small cabin in Denali and we all were happy to have some space.
The lodge is not far from town but out of the thick of people, which we appreciate. It's kind of nestled in the trees. We even watched a mama moose with her calf mosey around the yard one morning.
The washer and dryer are huge and were a welcome sight!
It rained a lot while we were there and while my husband did enjoy a dip in the hot tub, we didn't use the deck at all. But it is very nice!
I loved the pictures on the walls, which looked like most were personally taken.

This place is even nicer than described. Gorgeous log home with all possible amenities and very nicely appointed. The gas slate fireplace is amazing. Wendy, the host, was easy to work with and very responsive. Kitchen facilities were wonderful and easy to cook for eight adults. Four couples had a very comfortable stay 5 minutes from all the great activities in Seward.

Just have to say this VRBO is AMAZING. The owners have thought of everything you need. The house was beautiful and these owners actually built the house themselves. It was comfortable, with plenty of room, privacy and quiet spaces to sit and look at the beautiful scenery. They touched base with us to see if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're in Seward -- was close enough to the wharf and downtown area and they also had a binder with suggestions for places to see or visit. Great hosts and you will not be disappointed if you choose this VRBO. If we return to that area, will definitely rent this again!

This place is great, it has everything that you need for a nice stay in Seward, the host Wendy is very helpfull and nice.
We are planning on going back next summer for more fishing and this is where we will be staying.

This place was perfect and really clean. I was initially annoyed by the no-shoes rule because it seemed excessive, but when I saw how clean the house was I got over it.
We had 9 people in the house and felt perfectly comfortable. The house was really well maintained and we were sad to leave.

This property has everything you could ever possibly need for a perfect Alaskan getaway! First off the owners Wendy and Dave are top notch, they are there for you with whatever you need big or small. The house had all the accommodations you would ever need plus more, there communication and expectations of the place were also great. All of these things made for a very easy transition in the house and out of the house. I would highly recommend this property to anyone venturing to Alaska for the first time it is in a great location just outside of Seward. You will be taken care of by great people and will have a great place to enjoy your stay!!!!!!

We kicked off our family trip in Alaska by staying a the Bear Paw in Seward. It was fantastic! The space was ideal for our group of 6 adults, and the attention to detail was unsurpassed. Our hosts, Wendy and Dave were readily available if needed and respected our privacy if not. The cabin location was perfect for excursions out of Seward as well. The hot tub was an additional bonus to wind down an active day. We’d absolutely recommend this rental to anyone spending time in the area.

Our family of 5 loved all the comfortable space at Bear Paw Lodge during our Alaskan adventure. The weather was rainy so when we were not out exploring the area, we had plenty of space for everyone to relax. The house was extremely clean, well-stocked with everything from clothes detergent to paper products and anything else you may need. House is close to town and surrounded by beautiful trees. The front porch was a great place to have an evening drink on our one dry evening. Would def recommend this house for families or friend groups. Our boys loved the welcome cookies that Wendy made! Lovely home with gracious hosts who take a lot of pride in their lodge and running it professionally.
