Nestled in Lake Lure, this attractive cottage for $145 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Five Oaks is a cozy one-bedroom lakeside guest cottage situated on beautiful Lake Lure. It is the perfect spot for a romantic relaxing getaway vacation for two, or for a couple with one or two small children. Lake Lure is nestled in the narrow groove of Hickory Nut Gorge just 25 miles southeast of Asheville, NC. It was named by National Geographic as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Several movies, including Dirty Dancing have been filmed at Lake Lure. There is a never-ending variety of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in and around the lake, including swimming, fishing, diving, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. Five Oaks Cottage was built in 2005 and is tastefully decorated and equipped with a full kitchen and bath with shower. We supply linens, towels, and hygiene products for our guests and an information booklet listing local activities and attractions to help make each guest's stay both memorable and enjoyable. Guests have full access to the dock and boathouse rooftop deck for swimming, fishing, lounging, and enjoying the spectacular views of the lake, the gorge, and Chimney Rock Park. We also provide use of a canoe and a kayak so you can tour the lake and visit sites of interest such as the cove where portions of Dirty Dancing were filmed. There are also some very nice restaurants that can be reached by water. The cottage is situated behind the main house and has lake views from most windows and from the attached deck. The cottage is therefore not lakefront, but rather lake access. The boathouse and dock are about 150 feet in front of the cottage. About 15 stone steps lead down to the ground level of the main house. A stone pathway then leads you around the house. Another 15 steps will take you to the rooftop deck atop the boathouse, and another 15 steps will take you down to the dock at water level. Having to negotiate steps down to the water is the norm at Lake Lure because it is a mountain lake and the shoreline is steep. There are very few lodgings on Lake Lure that do not require the traversing of many steps to reach water level. Five Oaks Cottage actually has fewer steps to the water than many. Still, it may not be suitable for older folks or those with disabilities. The cottage is equipped with wireless internet, a TV with satellite reception, a DVD player, and a collection of DVDs. Five Oaks is the cottage where the author/owner conceived and wrote the popular series of children's books called The Lake Lure Chronicles (Google 'Lake Lure Chronicles' to view). Cozy, easy to get to, full use of dock w chairs and firepit below owners home. Fire ban kept us from using the firepit but we enjoyed the few day getaway from our home just an hour away. Turn off main road is right by Flower Bridge. Nice walks around the lake and neighborhood.

"I had the time of my life" The cabin was magnificent, the hosts David and Penny, were friendly, gracious and very accommodating to us and our dog. We can't wait to spend our next (27 years) Anniversary there. Thanks for letting us enjoy your piece of heaven.

We had a wonderful stay at the property! We enjoyed sitting on the boathouse and enjoying the view. We took the kayak out most days and enjoyed exploring the area. The cottage is clean and just the right size for 2 people plus pups❤ We are always grateful to bring them along on our adventures. Thank you for sharing your beautiful lakefront property with us!

Enjoyed the change of scenery compared to our home in Florida. Loved swimming in the lake, sunning and reading on the deck. Watching the boats go by, was another source of enjoyment. Cabin met all our needs.

The property is very small but fine for a couple plus one. We had expected a little closer proximity to the lake based on photos. There were many steps down to the dock which was hard for people our age so we didn’t really use the dock or boats. The view from the cabin was a bit disappointing too not as expected. We also had a hard time maneuvering the winding road and tiny parking spot. Except for these minor things it was a clean and cute place to stay and the owner was as friendly as could be. If you’re in good shape to get down to the dock it’s beautiful.

My wife and I along with my buddy Louie (he's a good dog) spent two wonderful weeks here on Lake Lure. Canoing, kayaking, floating on tubes...nice and relaxing. And, jumping off the boathouse is a must! Great location for checking out the area too, Black Mountain, Asheville, etc. Hosts were fantastic and made our stay very nice indeed. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thanks!

Very comfortable and beautiful scenery; hosts gave us privacy and were welcoming. Will stay here again. The views are amazing. Must be able to climb the slope and stairs to the lake but it is worth it. Loved unplugging at this rustic retreat.

Beautiful little cabin with access to the lake! We enjoyed walking the area, taking in the views of the lake around every corner, and having easy access to Chimney Rock. Hosts are very helpful, warm, and welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again!

The stay at five oaks cottage was wonderful. The access to the dock is great as the views are breathtaking. Short drive to Chimney Rock Village. Hoping to come back in the warmer months to be able to enjoy the lake more. David and Penny were wonderful hosts!

Always wanted to see Lake Lure since the movie Dirty Dancing came out. So we spent two nights there enjoying part of our 50 year marriage celebration. The house was perfect and clean and peaceful. We loved the cottage and the location is the absolute best! David and Penny are wonderful hosts and we are so thankful they share their adorable cottage. It is truly a home away from home with everything you could possibly need. You have the perfect view of Chimney Rock right from the deck on the lake. Beautiful sunsets ! We have stayed multiple times and it never disappoints. Dave and Penny are wonderful hosts. You can't ask for nicer people. They make you feel right at home. The cottage is perfect for two and a bonus is you can bring your pet. Thank is hard to find in LL. Wyatt, our GSP loves to swim off the dock and chase the ducks. The property is perfect for relaxing, swimming and site seeing. The views are breathtaking from the boat house. The cottage has everything you need and more. We look forward to staying again and again. Thank you Dave and Penny for making our stays so enjoyable and welcoming.

I give the the 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Owner came out when we got there show us around he was a very nice guy told us be at home use the canoe Kayak and use the grill and fire pit. We are planning to go back soon.
