About this house rental
Nestled in Folly Beach, this lovely house for $1,260 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. 'A Shore Thing' is a 5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bathroom, handicapped accessible, four story vacation rental dream house. Elevator access (40"wide x 45" deep cab) to every floor and handicapped accessible (ADA) master suite in main level (sliding board transfer from WC to shower ** NOT A WHEEL IN SHOWER ** / toilet and open sink to wheel under). Four (4) master suites, each with private bathrooms and all with an ocean view and private / personal 'romeo & Juliet balcony'. A children's room will feature 3 sets of bunk beds (5 twins and 1 queen) for a total of 6 beds. Every bedroom with flat-screen TVs and new mattresses (2016) Top floor features a billiard / game room with a tiki hut. Main (1st floor) features a large open kitchen with island, 2 dishwashers, screened porch and open porch with built in 30' Lynx gas grill. There's a Sonos sound system with speakers in the living room, kitchen, screen porch, billiard room, and garage. Stairs off of open porch lead directly to the beach, where a landing with seating / cooler storage and an outdoor shower will be located. Underneath the house is parking for 6 cars/SUVs, plus driveway parking. Granite countertops throughout. This is a gorgeous new home on folly, designed and built for vacationing. Very close proximity to the end of the island which makes for a very quite and private beach experience and improved view of ocean and the river on the opposite side (visible from billiard room). Enjoy. I keep the calendar very up-to-date. If dates are blocked out then they are unavailable. From memorial day to Labor Day, we have a firm at seven day minimum stay. Check in and check out day are Saturday with no exception. Please take note, all reviews prior to May 2016 apply to the old property "black magic". This property was completely demolished and rebuilt from the ground up to become "a shore thing". As of July 2016, Google earth has not taken updated pictures since mid construction.. however the street view is largley up to date. so if you take a look at the property it will look different on Google earth then it actually does in real life today. WEDDING / EVENTS -$1250 non refundable event fee This house was also designed to host weddings / events The large fenced in backyard has ample space for tables / chairs / dance floor. The garage has been finished (painted / siding / smooth ceilings, finished floor can lights & speakers) for a caterer to setup or for many tables & chairs (as a rain plan). Get married out on the beach and have your reception in the backyard. A port-a-jon rental is required for events as all of Folly Beach does not have city sewage (we are on a septic tank) and too many people using the bathroom (more than 15-20) can cause it to back up an overflow in the backyard). Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. The beach views were tremendous and we appreciated that the bedrooms had equivalent amenities (dedicated bathrooms, closets, etc).
We made some large meals in the kitchen and found it very well stocked with a variety of pans, utensils, etc. Our only issue was the gas oven was a little finicky and had trouble running at a lower temperature.
Ross answered all of our questions quickly. My family gave me kudos for booking a nice home :)

This rental was perfect for a family vacation that coincided with my youngest son's wedding. The house was perfect to hold the rehearsal dinner as well as a place for the groomsmen to change into their attire. Only drawback is the City of Folly Beach being uncooperative and dishonest to our vendors, but that is not the fault of this rental. Just beware of the city if you plan to hold an event.

It was a great place for our wedding. We had 50 guests and it fit everyone nicely! We had a hiccup when we checked in but the landlord was very responsive and fixed it. Such a good open space with beautiful views.

We held our wedding at A Shore Thing and it was better than we could have imagined. The homeowner was communicative and easy to work with leading up to our event and our stay with family made the weekend so special. The sunrise/sunset views from the house are spectacular, we loved everything about the home and our stay!

We were here two years ago and returned for our family vacation. We were excited to come together yet again and was not disappointed. For a somewhat large group it was the perfect venue to come together when we needed to but yet enough space to not get on each other nerves. We’ve lost a few family members but having such a great place to come together again was awesome! Thank you and until next time.

We are a group of older couple who have been vacationing together for 20+ years. This was our first time at this location and i I can say is it was wonderful… the house, the location, the elevator… everything! We liked it so much we booked it again for next summer.

Overall great stay. The house could use a few more basics like bath towels and a few beach chairs or an umbrella would be lovely so we didn’t have to pack so much stuff. Things get pretty sandy. A few more rugs and tubs to wash feet would be great. Central vac didn’t work great. Having another vacuum or mop on sight to use would be nice. Overall the house was just as advertised and fit out needs well. The view is beautiful and the backyard is amazing. We enjoyed our stay very much.

This house was perfect and amazing. There were 16 of us and the house accompanied us very well. The kitchen was stocked with anything you might need. The screened in porch was large and enjoyed by everyone, especially the rocking trips. The kids especially loved the bunk room. The house is truly exceptional. And the beach is right in front of you. Best rental we have ever stayed in.

Lovely beachfront house, lots of room, close walk to beach, great windows and doors to enjoy beach even when inside. House was well stocked with things needed to cook and serve nice dinners. We love to keep the music going and the Sonos made it nice to put on tunes throughout the house. Host was great at answering questions quickly. Short ride to local eateries and shops. There was plenty of room on beach with private access. Charleston was quick 20-30 minute ride. Would definitely stay again!

Overall the was a great house for us. The layout and beachfront location were terrific. Loved the screened porch and open kitchen living area and the bunk room was awesome for the kids! That being said some of the furnishings and kitchen items did not seem up to par with a rental at that level. It did not seem thoroughly cleaned when we got there… the floors especially. We had access to a broom but no dust pan could be found . The beds were ok but the pillows were fair to poor. The towels supplied were very thin and small and while some things like dishes were well stocked, other things, like wine glasses were not. A couple of chairs were broken but usable. We had a great time and loved the place for the most part. The things that need to be addressed could easily be taken care of. The repeated beeping of the alarm that had to be reset every 8-10 hrs was quite annoying but at least it could be turned off for periods of time. I would recommend this house but hope that the property owner / manager would address some of the not ideal aspects of the property and make sure it is up to par on the things mentioned.

The host charged me $1000 for 'massive scratches' on the floor in the master bedroom. He claimed it was from moving furniture or having a dog in the room which we did not do either.
At check-in, we contacted him regarding some other unrelated damages we saw so we were surprised by this damage charge as we are confident it was not from anything we did.
Super unfortunate because it was a great property but I would not recommend it to anyone to book because of this experience.

We had a great time at the house. Perfect for multiple families. The host was very responsive and accommodating to our questions and needs. Plenty of bathrooms and privacy. We got married under the house due to strong winds on the beach but it worked well for our group. We did need to do some additional cleaning under the house and grill to prepare for the event but inside the house was clean. Definitely a special place to us now and would love to return! And would highly recommend for events and/or large groups and families!

The property and home was absolutely perfect. I truly appreciate how well the property manager communicated with me throughout everything. Very friendly and helpful. We used the property for a small wedding in the backyard and underneath the house. It was so beautiful and the set up was absolutely perfect. The house was incredible. I loved the balcony for each adult room. And the kids’ room with all the bunk beds work so well. Hope to go back someday!

We were so excited to find this listing! We are Charleston natives and wanted to host our wedding on folly beach. This place was perfect. We were able to spend the weekend at the beach with our friends and family in the incredible house with the most amazing views and enough space for everybody to be spread out. There are porches facing the ocean on every floor. Plenty of seating and clean, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. It was raining so we had our ceremony and reception in the garage downstairs and it was still beautiful. Ross was a great communicator and very patient with me as I had a lot of questions for him lol he was always there when I needed him! Can not say enough great things about “A Shore Thing”

Everyone had his own bathroom and floor. There were 7 of us; 2 children, 5 adults. There were several instances of beeping occurring, the most annoying of which was a very loud beep (think fire alarm) at 2:30 one morning due to loss of electricity. The owner was very responsive, and we were able to stop the beeping. I believe the beeping was due to the Arctic cold as well as the other alerts that went off. We enjoyed the grassy area very much as well as the beach. Each bedroom enjoyed spectacular sunrises. We would definitely stay there again.

"A Shore Thing" was the perfect place for my large family to stay as we were in town for our son's wedding. Close to the wedding venue and rehearsal dinner festivities, golfing for the guys, shopping for the girls and those early morning walks on the beach with the kids. This spacious home accommodated our friends and family to come together one last time for a breakfast the morning after the wedding. Everyone was very impressed, and I was asked to give a "tour" to the friends that came over. It was a wonderful place for our family coming from all over the country to stay.

The owner was just excellent to communicate with. We had our daughters wedding in his beautiful home. I could write more on how amazing the house, view, bedrooms bathrooms, game room etc was! But we used the underneath garage for our reception party. So weather was no issue!
We had two days of bad wind and rain before the wedding. But the day of the wedding the day was perfect.
The owner was so helpful. He allowed us to take our wedding items to the house early anc put in the garage while weather allowed. This was sooo helpful.
He responded so quick to every little question. He was patient and understanding. Truly cared about our special day.
I really recommend this location for family or friends time together or any event. The yard is perfect for a wedding or walk right out to the beach. Pictures turn out amazing.

We had an extended family vacation here and had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and just as pictured! Very spacious and amazing views of the beach. The easy access on and off the beach was great! We will be back for sure! Host was easy to communicate with when we had questions and resolved any issues quickly. The only area for improvement would be having simple basics at the house. They supply bath towels but no soap, shampoo or lotions. They require you to start the first load of towels at exit but don’t supply laundry soap. Also there isn't a hair dryer in the whole house. I would have planned ahead had we known those items would be absent. Overall a great house, good time and amazing view!!!

We utilized this property for our wedding on 9/16 and it was the most spectacular day. The wedding in the backyard was everything I envisioned and Ross was so helpful leading up to our stay. Although we hosted a wedding for 50 people in the backyard, we also stayed in the house with our family and had a mini vacation leading up to the wedding. The house is impeccably clean and managed. Ross was so easy to communicate with and very responsive. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and overlooks Folly Beach. The kids had a blast just walking out the back door to the beach. My dad is handicapped and utilized the elevator daily. Highly recommend A Shore Thing for your family vacation in Folly or event.

Great beach house with family and friends. Ross was really good responding back with any questions and issues. And things were fixed quickly. Kitchen was very functional with 2 dish washers. A sink garburator would of been helpful. Would definitely like to stay again.

This is a nice house with great beach and beach access. The screened porch is wonderful.
HOWEVER, it is advertised as a" handicapped accessible(ADA) master suite" and I would disagree with that. Any person on a walker has no hope of getting in the overly high bed(+/-34") without a stool, even with help. There is no stool. ( Interestingly, Walmart is not far, but I walked the store with 3 different employees on Saturday nite and all they had was a 6' ladder and a baby stool.) The mattress is apparently new and very thick and very comfortable, but of little solace if you can't access the bed. There is also no chair in the bedroom (or any bedroom)or the bathroom for anyone(especially a person on a walker) to sit and undress/dress. The fold-down bench seat in the shower was almost impossible to fold down and impossible to fold up.
Remedy these issues and it's a great place.

This was our second vacation at A Shore Thing. It was as good as the first. The easy access to the ocean, beautiful and relative private beach frontage, the floor plan layout, the pool table room, and the amenities on the property were exactly what we wanted and perfect for large family gathering.
When we revisit Folly Beach we hope to be back at A Shore Thing.
