About this cottage rental
Nestled in Manasota Key, this charming cottage for $140 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Sunset Cottage is located on the southern end of Manasota Key, just steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Less than a block away, Stump Pass State Park offers you a mile or more of undisturbed wildlife and beaches. The Sunset Cottage provides all the comforts of home, with easy access to the beach right across the quiet street. If you want to enjoy sunsets on the beach, fishing, shelling, hiking and swimming by day, and fun evenings at home or at one of the great local restaurants, then this cottage is for you. You can even rent a boat slip nearby for easy access to Lemon Bay or the ocean. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you might want at the beach including a blender, microwave oven, and more. One bedroom has a queen-size bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds, and the living room has a sleeper sofa that can accommodate two more people. Everything will be fresh and comfortable for your stay. Evenings at the beach can be spent star-gazing, or playing one of the many board games provided. Maybe you prefer karaoke at the local tiki bar, about a quarter of a mile up the beach. Or maybe your idea of a good time is watching a movie on the DVD player or VCR. Cable TV is included as well as internet access. The cottage has a great selection of books if you just want to browse our nonfiction selections or get lost in a novel. Kick back on the screened lanai, or use our charcoal grill to serve home-cooked steak! Early mornings, you can listen to the sounds of the island waking up or go for a run on the quiet two-lane road. Trees shade the lanai with lush vegetation. An eagle nests in a nearby pine tree. Butterflies are attracted by the jasmine and other fragrant flowers in the yard. Turtle nests are protected on the beach and you will often find local citizens on “turtle patrol” safeguarding these special nesting grounds. Nature is at its best at this island retreat, and we have collected sharks teeth, shells, driftwood, and polished stones on each of our visits. One of the best things about this cottage is it's location. It's a block from Stump Pass State Park. There are 265 acres of quiet walking trails and pristine beaches. Here you can find a section of beach all to yourself. Awesome wildlife abounds; you will see pelicans diving for fish, dolphins and manatee swimming along the shore, and sometimes schools of fish jumping. Sandpipers run up and down the beach as the tide recedes, and the breeze tickles your face as the waves lap at your toes. Sunset Cottage is a recently renovated duplex, and each unit is rented separately, with the one in the back called "Sunrise" and the one in the front called "Sunset." Each has its own entrance and lanai, and the furnishings are similar. Both are located at ground level, so there are no steps to climb. This makes it ideal for those who have trouble climbing steps, or for those with young children. It's a lot easier to come and go to the beach when you don't have to climb stairs. If you have enjoyed Manasota Key before, you know it is a unique Florida beach, without high-rise hotels and fast food restaurants. It feels like the Florida of simpler times, and has only a two-lane road and no red-lights. This is the perfect place to get away from it all, to reconnect with family or friends,and to recharge your batteries. What a bargain, in a great location. Between Jan 1-April 1, high season rates apply, and guests must book from the first of the month to the end of the month (inclusive of the last day of the month). Shorter, variable length stays are allowed during the rest of the year.

The Sunset Cottage was perfect for us. Two retired adults.
We love the beach and the neighborhood. It's quiet and within easy walking distance to many points of interest. Our host was gracious and accommodating. The screened porch was welcoming, a good place for lunch or reading or just sitting. We are sad to leave, but plan to come back again. Thank you Nancy.

Three of us did a Girl's Trip for a week to Nancy's cute cottage! The location is perfect, just a short walk across the street to the Gulf and an easy drive to anything we wanted/needed. Check-in was a breeze, and Nancy's communication was perfect! We had a small issue with power to the microwave, and Nancy sent an electrician the same day. The cottage is well stocked with kitchen items, towels and beach items. I'm already talking about going back for a trip with my daughters! Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your lovely cottage with us!

Great Location and amenities!
Everything on the island was an easy walk. Though not beachfront, it really was only a 3 minute walk to the beach. The house was perfect for just the two of us. It was very relaxed and cozy and Nancy kept in touch about everything that was going on around us.

We really enjoy staying in Nancy's property! The location is great and the house has everything we need- good kitchen, shower, lanai, washer/dryer right in the kitchen, comfy bed. It is in a quiet neighborhood 60 steps to the beach access and so close to wonderful Stump Pass Park. Nancy is a lovely in person and very accommodating. We look forward to to staying there again next March.

Simply being honest so that owner can look into it.
Location was great but there were some concerns.
Cleanliness was good but when I went to dress the inflatable mattress the sheets in the linen closet smelled bad. (Inflatable deflated by mid early morning and found my daughter on the floor. )
One of the twin size beds in one room was wobbly. The drawers in the dresser in the twin size bedroom won't open easily and get stuck. So drawers are broke.
Seems like the sheets were fresh but the comforters smelled like there had been time where they hadn't been washed.
The bathtub doors were very hard to open and close as they would get stuck. I managed and I wouldn't allow the kids to open or close them to make sure nothing broke or they wouldn't get hurt. Be careful when getting out of the tub. The bath towels are old and rough bring your own if you want soft ones.
There is only one TV so if you are traveling with others where you know you will need more tvs bring your laptop.
The living area is tight so if you aren't going to spend too much time indoors Def book it.
Suitable for a family of 3 but no more.

We've stayed at the hotels on the beach where it took much longer to get to the beach. On the beach you can walk to Stump Pass State Park with tons of shells and shark teeth. You can find shells and shark teeth anywhere along the beach but we had most success at the end of the park. The house is very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Owner was very quick to reply to all of our questions before and after booking and during our stay. You can get Instacart delivery from Costco (50 minutes away) to this address.
