Find us on Instagram ~ @tweetsiehouse The Story of Tweetsie House... Newly constructed in 2009, Tweetsie House offers the conveniences and luxury of modern construction while giving the feel of a rustic mountain cabin and setting. From the valley below, the faraway whistle of a steam locomotive sounds. It's Tweetsie Railroad's historic steam engine--and the namesake of this rustic, charming cabin in the woods. Why You'll Come Back Again and Again... Tweetsie House is ideally located between Boone and Blowing Rock in the gorgeous High Country of North Carolina. No matter what the season, Tweetsie House is a perfect destination: escape to the cool mountain air in summer; enjoy the breathtaking fall foliage, take advantage of many different winter sports, or watch the mountains come alive in spring—whether hiking in the woods or relaxing on the deck. All within minutes of Tweetsie House, you'll find so much to do! What to Expect When You Arrive... Upon arrival you will be guided by landscape lighting along the driveway lined with pavers and stone walls. Motion control exterior lighting allows for visitors to easily access the front porch and enter and exit from the large parking area. The main level features hardwood floors throughout, kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and a large dining table that, when fully extended, seats 10 people. The main living room has leather furnishings and large multi-story windows that overlook the mountains and valley. The main level living area features a vaulted ceiling, ceiling fan, large flatscreen TV, gas log fireplace, and whole-house WiFi. Also on the main level is the master bedroom suite with king-size bed, TV, private bath with tub and shower, walk-in closet, and access to the rear deck. The main level rear deck extends the full length of the house. From the deck, visitors can enjoy the mountain view and enjoy the use of a large gas grill, outdoor seating, and outdoor dining areas. The upper level features hardwood floors throughout. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen-size bed and one with a pair of twin beds. These bedrooms share a bath with a shower and tub. The lower level features two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed. One bedroom is adjacent to a full bath. Bedrooms are separated by a large den with a flat screen TV. Both bedrooms enjoy access to the full length lower level deck and six-person hot tub. The covered lower deck is where you can relax in the hot tub or listen to rain pitter patter during a rain shower. The three level arrangement lets the young children have an area to themselves upstairs while the older children and adults can enjoy one of the two other living areas. The whole-house heat pump heating and cooling system is complimented by a gas fireplace on the main level and a gas buckstove on the lower level. Relax knowing that, on your arrival, your kitchen is ready for your bags of groceries; all pots, pans, and small appliances—including a Keurig—are at your disposal. Make chili for a crowd in the crockpot while you ski. Roast your holiday bird in the large roasting pan provided. Make a birthday cake with on-site baking pans and high quality hand mixer. The amenities at Tweetsie House will accommodate your party, whether you’re planning a girls’ retreat, a guys’ golf-getaway, or a family reunion. The main-level master suite is great for elderly guests because there are no stairs to climb; a high-chair and pack-and-play are here for the littlest guests to use. You don’t need to bring sheets, towels, pillows, or blankets. Laundry detergent and toilet paper are provided. Each of three full bathrooms is equipped with a hair dryer. An ironing board and iron are on-site. We've thought of everything so you don't have to. Also, don't miss ziplining at Sky Valley Zip Tours (2.0 miles) and Hawksnest Ziplines (14.6 miles). Why Tweetsie House? There are literally four roads leading to Tweetsie House, but when you arrive you feel that you are at your private retreat. The only sounds you hear are the birds singing, the hot tub bubbling, and the echoing sound of the little engine just over the hill. At night the rock retaining walls, split rail fencing, landscaping, and cabin exterior are illuminated with lightscaping. It is very common to have wild turkey flocks and deer wandering around the property. Located at over 4,000 feet, the summer nights are cool and pleasant and the spring and fall days are perfect for outdoor living. During the winter months, there is plenty to do—skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ziplining, ice skating, and snow shoeing—but a 4WD vehicle is advisable in December, January, and February.

We had a wonderful time at the Tweetsie House. We travelled with three families. All of the adults had a king size bed and the children had plenty of room. We especially enjoyed the hot tub after skiing!

Tweetsie House was perfect for our fall family gathering. The little cousins had a blast at the house with the fire pit, hot tub and plenty of space to play inside with their new souvenirs from Tweetsie Railroad. The location was great, close to the sites we visited. Mir was a great host. Thanks so much!

This is my 2nd time staying at this house. It’s just the best location for either Boone or Blowing Rock, blue ridge parkway etc.. anything in the High Country. It’s very well appointed with everything you need and lots of labels to help you know what is what. The grill is brand new from my last time and works like a charm. We grilled 2 nights. We did not use the hot tub but there is one. The location is simply the best as you feel in the mtns (with lots of leaf color and wildlife) but the parking is nice and flat and spacious and you can get down the mtn in 5 minutes. And once down, you’re within minutes of either Blowing Rock or Boone. It’s a big house with 5 beds/4 baths so it’s perfect for a big family or 2 families or like us 5 women friends. This is a jewel. Mir (the host) is very responsive but we’ve rarely needed to contact her bc it’s all been worked out for you and easy to follow. I’m hoping we can make this an annual event!

Perfect space for large or extended family gatherings. Super clean and comfortable and very well appointed. With 3 levels, there is plenty of space to spread out yet room to come together in the great and dining area. Only 10 mins to either Boone or Blowing Rock, yet felt like we were off the beaten path. We definitely be back!
