About this house rental
Situated in Topanga, this lovely house for $810 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Summary: Come feel the magic of Malibu. Step through the door onto the teak floor, feel the breeze through the giant sliding doors, and all your worries will melt away. Whatever your pleasure, Modern Malibu will satisfy: hike in the mountains, surf the waves, stroll the sand, or lounge in the hot tub. The Space: Our space is ready to provide you a comfortable, enjoyable stay, with 3 bedrooms and 3 spacious bathrooms, laundry, a well-equipped kitchen, laundry, a hot tub, surfboards, paddle boards, and kayaks. Hiking trails are close by, as are restaurants, shopping, and the Malibu Pier. We provide fans in each room, however the house does not have AC, so expect to sleep with some windows open for air movement (that means you will hear the waves). Guest Access: The 2 bottom floors of the house are yours, including your own private deck with a propane grill & hot tub, and private stairs to the beach. Also privately yours are 2 kayaks, 2 surf boards, and 2 stand up paddle boards. There are 4 parking spots available. Please note: previous reviews mention a rooftop deck, and that is on the 3rd floor which is not part of the rental currently. We previously rented all 3 floors of the house, for much larger groups. The Neighborhood: Within walking of Topanga Beach, Thai Cholada, Reel Inn. Quiet beach. Getting Around: 4 parking spots are available in front of the house. Having a car will make it so you can go where you want, when you want. Interaction with Guests: We are a phone call away, not on-site, but are able to provide help in case of a specific need or issue within an hour or two.

This is a dream VRBO home stay. A fabulous vacation stay. A well maintained fabulous home directly on the beach in Malibu with spectacular views. Home includes a hot tub, surf boards, and sea kayak. Family thought it was the best family get together location ever

Our family stayed in this house for four nights and it was hard to leave. The location is fantastic. Being on the water was beautiful and fun to watch the sea life. The house was more spacious than it looks in pictures. Our host, Haley, was wonderful with communication. We definitely recommend a stay in this home!

Cons: I personally found it too loud and not as relaxing as I would have liked. You are sandwiched between PCH and the waves crashing. The waves do mostly drown out the traffic, but it's never quiet. Also I think the kitchen could be stocked better and more organized. It felt like they need to come through and do an overhaul. And for the price, we all felt like there should be more basics like a few seasonings, trash bags, tupperware, etc. As someone who rents a lot of rental homes, that was definitely frustrating.

A great weekend at the beach!
This is the perfect house for a group. Plenty of space for sleeping and playing. We loved the ocean-front hot tub and the expansive rooftop deck. The host family was helpful and communicative -- we felt very welcome!

Amazing house.
Amazing house with an even better view. When tides are low it’s perfect for beach play, at high tide it’s more for adults. But couldn’t have had a better time. Plus there’s a pirate.

Everything was great, the house was perfect and the views amazing.
Only little downside is the close proximity to the PCH, but you can't have everything.

We had an amazing trip. Plenty of beds for all and the view/weather was amazing. It was wonderful!
We rented this home with another family. We had a blast! When the tide went out, the kids boogie boarded. When the tide was in we SUPd, kayaked, and surfed. There was fun for all. Not to mention the amazing view. Thank you for a wonderful get away. We really needed it!!!

My boss and his colleague wanted to bring their families to LA while they there for business. I came across this listing by chance and thought it too good to be true. It was absolutely Amazing!!! To be honest, it was better than the pictures portrayed. There is so much I could say but I don’t want to bore you. The main thing is that this is a property, from its location to beauty, is worth every penny. You will not be disappointed. The boss’s family has already asked me to look into booking it again for future visits to Los Angeles. Thank you Haley for everything. You made 2 families very, very happy!!!

Winter Beach Break
This property was rented for a short beach vacation for a group of 13. Quite simply, the house was perfect for our group. Everything was clean. The house was spacious with lots of sleeping options. The kitchen was adequately stocked for our use. The view was amazing and it was a great place to relax. The owner (Haley) was friendly and responsive. Check-in was very easy. The location is a short drive to a bunch of restaurants and services in either Malibu or Santa Monica. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Lovely place to stay with our family!
Our family loved this house as we gathered for a wedding in Malibu. Being ocean front was wonderful and the house was well equipped from beach toys to the kitchen where we shared meals. Thank you.

Run down, Dirty, Not a Paradise
We really anticipated a lovely stay. It says it accommodates 16, but that includes children size beds and mattresses on the floor. One room is just a bunch of mattresses shoved in there that are so old and on mismatched frames. The mattresses that are there are filthy, one even had bloodstains so large it looked like a murder scene. Our guests were scared and wouldn’t sleep there, asked for a refund on our energy healing retreat. It was mortifying. The house “sound system” was busted, wouldn’t even turn on. Lightbulbs were out and no replacements available. Beds ALL had dirty sheets, like they had been remade from previous guests. The kitchen was so poorly stocked with chipped, unmatching cups/plates/flatware, mismatched old cookware with no lids, and a broken blender that left us with pieces of plastic in our smoothies. The deck upstairs was filthy and covered in cobwebs. The umbrellas were filthy and had rusted out stands that wouldn’t support the umbrella anyway, essentially making them useless. The furniture was so old or filthy you had to cover it before using. Rust stains on windows and filthy walls. I was shocked. There clearly hasn’t been any maintenance or upgrades to the property for a long time. Owner tried to blame us for things previous renters or maids did just to keep the deposit. Such a scam and so disappointed. We spent so much time cleaning and covering broken items, it was exhausting. This place is not as advertised and these pictures do not represent how the house currently looks. Just be aware if you book it’s like camping, you will need to bring absolutely everything. That being said, the view is of course beautiful and as long as you focus on that instead of the accommodations, you’ll be fine.

Great beachfront retreat!!
We loved every minute of it and didn't even want to venture out. Seals & dolphins stopped by to say hello. Hot tub did the trick. Great for two or three families with kids. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Haley was great and made checking in and out super easy! Can't wait to come back!!

Breath taking
Everything about this property was exactly as advertised or better. It is extremely well appointed and equipped. You feel like you are on the brow of a yacht looking at the ocean. The kids loved the unique cubby beds. The pictures don't do it justice. Great folks to deal with. Absolutely no problems and we will return the next time we visit LA.

What a fabulous stay
We were thrilled to stay a fabulous 10 days at this gorgeous house. As a family of 6 (4 kids, 12, 11, 8 and 6) plus our nanny we had an enormous amount of space. The kids loved the pirate on the balcony, the pelicans perch bunk bed and the pirates cove cubby. The kitchen was a great place to watch the waves, dolphins, and seals while cooking our favorite meals from farmers market purchases. The house is stocked with surf boards, games and puzzles. The fireplace was a great way to enjoy the cool air of the coast and yet be warm and cozy. The kids loved roasting marshmellows. We look forward to renting again. Haley was very responsive and helpful.

Great family gathering location!
We had a wonderful long weekend with many family members to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was a perfect location for us, with a nice open floor plan downstairs so we could all meet and eat together but plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs that gave everyone privacy and comfort. The location is beautiful and the property is very well-maintained. We were missing a few kitchen implements, but that’s absolutely the only problem we had. We were there during an extremely high tide that splashed waves over the balcony, so that made beach access a little difficult (and there was beach available only for a few hours in the afternoons), but it was exciting to witness the power of the ocean. We also witnessed the lunar eclipse, and that was a truly magical sight over the water. Our hostess was responsive and helpful, and we would return in a heartbeat.

This is a beautiful and comfortable get-away
We really enjoyed our long weekend here. The main living area is truly beautiful and comfortable—a place where you could happily spend your entire visit! Haley was easy to work with and accommodated our wishes in a very flexible way. The configuration of bedrooms and beds works for most any group, including a fair number of kids. It rained some and was too chilly for us to be on the water, but we enjoyed hiking, walking the beach eating good food and relaxing. Only tip is you'll want to bring in everything to cook with because unless we missed them we didn't find condiments (including salt) and other basics that often come with a VRBO. Highly recommend the place tho.
