Playa de Foz Hotel & Spa by gaiarooms

We chose this hotel for its proximity to Playa de las Catedrales and we wanted a modern four-star with facilities for our two-night stay. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but we were really happy with our choice. We had room 03, which is ground floor with its own little patio area right outside the door, and from which we could easily access the pool. Other reviewers mention a lack of privacy but we didn't feel this at all as the glass completely obscures any view into the room from outside. We would never normally book a ground floor room but this place has changed my mind on that. The room was big, clean, had a great double shower, a comfortable bed and a TV with Netflix. The mini fridge was great for chilling drinks and the room had plenty of sockets, although it was missing a mirror above the desk/dressing table. The digital keys worked fine for us - remember to take your phone every time you leave the room though! We enjoyed the breakfast, especially the tarta de Santiago. There's plenty of free parking in front of the hotel and an easy walk to the restaurants and small shops in Foz, as well as the beach which is lovely.

There wasn't anything we didn't like, just a couple of niggles... There's no shelf in the shower, so your soaps and bottles have to stand on the floor. As mentioned already, there's no mirror above the dressing table which is a frustrating oversight. There's a kettle but no milk. One of the complimentary bottles of water had already been opened. The pool was cold but this is to be expected in September.
