About this house rental
Welcome to Kyoto Senraku! – A Comfortable Stay in the Heart of Kyoto
Kyoto Senraku is located in the center of Kyoto, just a 10-minute walk from both Subway Shijo Station and Hankyu Karasuma Station. These stations are only two stops from Kyoto Station, so getting here and exploring the city is quick and easy.
Our vacation rental was originally built about 100 years ago. While you may notice some traditional features—such as lower ceilings or steeper staircases—we believe these are part of its unique charm. The building has been thoughtfully renovated to provide modern comfort while preserving the character of old Kyoto.
Inside, you’ll find a kitchen, washer and dryer, and other essentials that make longer stays more convenient.
Many of Kyoto’s famous spots are nearby and easy to visit:
Nijo Castle – about 15 minute walk, a beautiful World Heritage Site
Nishiki Market – about 10 minute walk, a lively food market known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen”
Rokkakudo Temple – about 5 minute walk, the birthplace of ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement)
Shijo Street Shopping Area – about 10 minutes walk, with department stores, boutiques, cafés, and traditional shops
You can also reach Kyoto’s most iconic sightseeing spots easily, such as Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kiyomizu Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine etc...

We loved this traditional house and its location. The tatami mats and sliding doors are elegant, the bathroom and shower are very nice and the futons very comfortable. We got used to the steep stairs up to the bedroom, I would go down backwards like on a ladder and my husband would just angle his feet at 45 degrees. We could walk to many places, including Nijo castle. Rieko our helpful host told us about the hollyhock festival/parade starting at the Imperial Palace which we took the train to and walked back. The procession showed off traditional costumes, horses, and carriages. Rieko warned us about the heat and she was right! She also suggested a nice grocery store where we bought food to prepare in the kitchen.

Rieko was very welcoming & accommodating. We arrived later than expected and she still waited up to provide us a warm welcome. House was very well kept and comfortable.

The property feels like it is new and is very neat and nicely done. The host was flexible when meeting us for check-in and is very organized. The location was great for the two of us (would be small for more than 2 people) and we ended up eating at many of the local restaurants and loved them all. Strongly recommend.

I can't say enough about what a great property this is. Reiko was a fantastic host, the location was perfect, and the picures dont do the property justice. We really enjoyed our stay and i wouldnt hesitate to recommend this property or to stay here myself again. Thank you Reiko!!
