About this cottage rental
Nestled in Lakeside, this attractive cottage for $371 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This cottage at 317 Central is both humble (although it can sleep 10) and strategically located. It is right across the street from the Hoover Auditorium where nightly shows and entertainment are scheduled each summer. It is just 2 streets from the lake and Lakeside town center. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs all with double beds. (one of the bedrooms is a walk through from another). There is 1 bedroom downstairs with 2 twin beds and window AC unit. All the beds have new pillow top mattresses. To keep cool in the summer, all 4 upstairs bedrooms have window A/C, downstairs dining has a window A/C and there are 10 ceilings fans covering all bedrooms, kitchen, dining areas etc. Downstairs has a full bath newly renovated with a tub/shower. There is a 1/2 bath upstairs. The kitchen offers a full size refrigerator, electric range, microwave, toaster, coffee pot as well as lots of cooking / eating ware and plenty of storage space in the pantry. Adding to the "family experience" at this cottage is a dinning room table that can seat 8, a living room that is complete with 2 sofa's, a lazy chair and 45" flat screen TV w/cable and free wifi. In addition 1 upstairs bedroom has a 35" flat screen TV. To make you and your family feel comfortable in this summer cottage home - there are many shelves that are overflowing with children's books, and family games. The back yard includes a large brick patio with a table / umbrella and several sets of chairs and shade under a large hickory tree to escape the hot summer sun at Lakeside. The backyard has a barn that contains a charcoal grill, sandbox toys for the beach and other yard games for your family to enjoy. We also have a propane 2 burner grill. In the front of this traditional Lakeside cottage you will find a full size open porch with a large awning to keep the sun out, plus comfortable glider and 3 rocking chairs. There is driveway parking for 1 large car or 2 smaller cars. The theme of this cottage is to provide a home that is comfortable, fun and very accessible to all locations. You can sit on the front porch and enjoy the sights and sounds of people, children, bicycles, dogs and golf carts that roll by from morning until evening. You can cook a nice family meal and eat at the dining table inside or have a picnic in the shady back yard. With only 1 block to walk you can quickly find Lakeside's Main Street commercial / social scenes, take in some recreation and the activity at the lakefront park - or you can stay at home and read books, play games or pop in a movie. Whatever you and your family might need, this Lakeside cottage has something to offer everyone during your stay. Bed sizes: 4 Doubles and 2 twins. Lakeside is just divine for a relaxing time! Kathy is a gracious hostess and excellent at communicating. The only feedback is it would be great if Lakeside had a better process for cars inside the night before a very early start, with the gates. Our family lives Lakeside that is a taste of life at a simpler pace!

The cottage was very clean and well kept. The air conditioning was such a bonus for the hot, sticky days. And our favorite part of all is the location and the front porch. It's across the street to the auditorium and we got prime listening pleasure of the orchestra practicing. This place is charming and we'll be back.

The house was perfect! Very clean, very organized, and the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. We enjoyed the location of the cottage as it’s in a walkable distance to just about anything in Lakeside. We would definitely stay here again

Very close to shops/downtown area and not too far from the pool either! We fit four couple with a room to spare with two infants and comfortably enjoyed our stay! Communication with the owners was also 10/10! We had a massive storm during o her stay and some damage was made to the exterior but was fixed within 24hrs. Highly recommend for your Lakeside stay!

The cottage at Lakeside was perfect for our family. The kids could easily walk downtown, and the adults could hang out on the front porch or grill in the backyard. It was a tight squeeze for 10 of us, but it was fabulous.

We had a wonderful experience as always staying at 317 Central Ave! We ate outside much of the time in the beautiful outdoor seating. Everything was very clean, beautifully decorated, and extremely comfortable for our family of 8. The walk to Lakeside is super short from this superb location. We highly recommend staying here!

Our stay was perfect for our group of 8 friends/family. Plenty of amenities and very clean. Loved the front porch and the well appointed back patio. Beds were comfortable and the a/c units and ceiling fans kept us cool. Location was convenient to all downtown activities and shops. Liked it so much that we reserved for the same week next year before we even left the gates!

Great for kids!
My grandkids loved their stay. My 2 four year olds loved riding their own bikes to where the action was. The older kids did too. They all loved all the activities and playing with the other very friendly kids at the basketball courts, Gaga pit and beach. I got a lot of steps in as well! It was a wonderful family vacation!

Awesome house
The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It had everything we could possibly need from kitchen utensils to plenty of dishes to paper products. Beds were plentiful and comfortable. Loved the front porch and listening to the shows from Hoover. Also such a short walk to uptown. Very good access to owners.

The location was amazing and close to everything. The house had everything we needed. My in laws weren’t comfortable with the stairs so they stayed downstairs; it’s nice to have a room on the first level.

Wonderful getaway for the family!
We came back for a second year to Camp Scheerer and had a wonderful time! Our family of 8 (our kids are ages 9 years - 6 months) couldn’t be happier with our experience at this beautifully maintained cottage. The location can’t be beat and the cottage fits so many people! Kathy is very responsive yo any questions you may have. We will be back next year!

We have stayed at Lakeside many times. This was our first time at this property. Everything was very clean. Every dish, utensil, cleaning supply, etc. you could need is already there.
You bring the sheets and towels and you are set.
I have four kiddos (5, 9, 14, 18) and my husband and I invited our moms. We had plenty of room on the porch, in the backyard, in the house. You cannot go wrong with this one.
The new bathroom on the first floor is perfect and super clean. Each bed was cozy and there were extra blankets and pillows. Each room was very well done and definitely family friendly and gave you the Lakeside coziness that makes Lakeside what it is.
We used some of the games available, some of the books, had the heat on and then the AC.
The location is next to where they have church and concerts. So on Sunday we didn't even have to go to church. My husband heard both sermons from the front porch. If you were inside you weren't bothered with the sound though.
You leave the front porch, turn right, walk about block down and end up at the shuffleboard courts. It is crazy close to everything, but still quiet.
This was also our first VRBO (and we have used it several times and used another site) where the owner reached out ahead to let us know what was currently going on with the house, what to expect, etc. We were on our way up and there was a huge storm that swept through. The owner used her contacts to find out ahead of time what we were in for. Then the owner dropped off extra flashlights and cleaned up backyard tree debri from the storm. The communication was very open. If we had a question she welcomed it. And even thought ahead of things we didn't even think to ask, like how to turn on the heat (even though there are instructions there if you needed). This was all positive communication, not intrusive.

Perfect home for our family of 7 (going on 8!)
We had a wonderful experience staying at Camp Scheerer! The kids didn't want to leave and we plan to be back next year if everything works out. The place was clean and there were plenty of books and games for our kids (5 kids - ages 8yrs and under) to look at in between activities at Lakeside. The walk to Lakeside was incredibly short and made it easy to get back and forth whenever we needed. Highly recommended!

Great location!
We had a wonderful time at 317 Central! Such a convenient location with little ones to get to the park!! It was very clean and everything was taken care of so we didn’t have to worry about anything during our stay!

Great location, wonderful front porch.
We loved the cottage and the location. Had great communication with owner. Answered our questions quickly. Even though kitchen is small we were able to cook great evening meals with our family. Air conditioning in all the bedrooms and dining rooms very much appreciated.

Lovely Cottage w perfect location
My family rented this cottage for Memorial Day weekend and were so happy with its location and amazing front porch! Cozy living room, if u actually sit inside:) Kitchen was small but I was able to make some meals for the family without a problem. It is a block away from the park and downtown which is so convenient if u have kids. Kathy was amazing to work with and quick to answer any questions we had. It’s a great choice for a relaxing getaway!

This cottage was everything we wanted during our Lighthouse Festival weekend! It was super clean, updated and the location was great. We only had five people staying this time but it would have fit a lot more comfortably. The owners were great and responded to questions very quickly. We would love to stay at this cottage again!

Girlfriend Getaway Gift
With air conditioning and a remodeled upstairs half-bath and four bedrooms, and a remodeled downstairs full bath and bedroom, this is an ideal cottage for a group. Cute, clean and designed for respite in rockers on the front porch across from Hoover. I refuse to say more great things about the owners or this place, however true, because it is already getting too hard to find open week(s) here! Thanks!

Perfectly Located Lakeside Cottage
317 Central was a great cottage that helped enhance a wonderful week at Lakeside. Having friends staying at Lakeside, in other cottages, we were definitely the envy of the group, being so close to downtown, across from Hoover Auditorium, and having the perfect porch to always have someone sitting on. And although the kitchen and a few upstairs room were small, they were just as the pictures showed they would be, and contained everything you would need to have a good week. I was impressed at what the stove could hold, even though it looks pretty tiny! We would definitely choose to stay here again in the future!

Lakeside Love!
This was my first time renting a cottage in Lakeside, and this cottage couldn't have been more perfect! Beautifully decorated, we had everything we needed from kitchen utensils to a dining table large enough to seat 8 people, to air conditioning that kept us cool in very hot weather. The bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of dresser and hanging space. The front porch with the awning and rocking chairs were perfect for sitting out in the evenings, listening to the entertainment coming from Hoover Auditorium across the street. It was nice to also be able to eat at the table on the back patio. The location is excellent, just 1.5 blocks away from the downtown Lakeside area, playgrounds, and shuffleboard courts. It's just a few steps more to the lake!
Spending a week in Lakeside was a wonderful experience for my family, and being able to stay in such a beautiful home was part of what made it so great!

Good stay
The property was in a great location – so close to the park and right across the street from Hoover. The beds were quite comfortable. The table on the back patio was great for all of our meals. We also enjoyed the firepit. The front porch was great for people watching. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. Overall the set up worked quite well for our family of 5 adults and 4 small children.

Charming home in the middle of the action
This home was perfect for us. We love the proximity to 'downtown', the Pier and shuffleboard.
The bathrooms are recently remodeled and the cute kitchen was clean and well stocked.
The porch was our favorite part! 6 or 7 of us could easily fit and watch people pouring down the hill or listen to a concert across the street.
