He will be more than happy to accompany a guest if desired. There are numerous tropical islands which include, Coiba island national parks & The Secas. There are a couple of restaurants in the immediate area. Lordes Lobster Restaurant – You can see it from the balcony There are also several very good restaurants in the area within a short drive from your apartment down towards Boca Chica (12- 15 mins drive) . David is the 3rd largest city in Panama. It is situated 1 hour away from our property on a very good road. Here you will find a large assortment of different shops, stalls and markets of all kinds. Some of the large shops here include Conways (this has just opened here December 09) Rey, Romero and 99 Shops are large supermarkets that are open 24 hours. There is also a large Pricesmart shop and numerous restaurants of all types and Casinos. There are 2 large modern hospitals with all the latest equipment. From here it is a very good point to visit Boquette, and also Volcan which is the highest point in Panama. Volcan is where the they gown a lot of the produce for Panama Cerro Punta which is a very famous place and is known as the bread basket of Panama. Costa Rica frontier is only 40 minutes away from David. CHIRIQUI is in the far western region of Panama having a border with Costa Rica that stretches down to the Pacific Ocean. The Gulf of Chiriqui provides a stunning prelude to the Pacific Ocean in which many small and uninhabited islands lay. The waters in this region are full of wildlife and opportunities for boating and finding those deserted islands. If you are looking for a place on the ocean with stunning views and wonderful accommodations this is the place! We had a wonderful time and very relaxing, the next door neighbors Eda and Rafael were wonderful and provided us with information on what was going on in the area, and I highly suggest a boat tour of the surrounding islands , this has been the highlight of my trip to Panama!

Our family stayed at Ann and Bob's rental for 5 days. What a fantastic property! Private beach - you can walk for miles when the tide is out. Beautiful pool, with lots of floaties and Ann and Bob make them all available for their guests. They were kind enough to stock our fridge with some food so we didn't have to panic and run out to get groceries upon arrival. This place is a treasure - this is a remote property, but with a car you can get around easily and the drives are very nice. We did day trips to Volcan, Boquete - another beach Las Lajas. Bob set us up with a boat tour to a couple of secluded lovely beaches where we could snorkel and swim. We even had a manta ray fly into the boat! Overall, you can't go wrong here, the guest house is fully equipped, clean and very comfortable - you will NOT be disappointed.

Sparkling clean house with gorgeous views
Bob & Ann welcomed us to their piece of paradise with chocolate and coffee - what a way to go! The rental is an apartment below their house, but was totally private and perfect for our group of 4. It had the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever encountered in a rental plus laundry facilities and a plethora of pool toys! We loved our night swims in the balmy breezes of Boca Chica. The outdoor living area was so inviting & the beach is right below the house. You’ll often find it deserted, but you may have to share with a handful of others! It was a beautiful place to spend time at the beach.

Year 7 still felt like heaven
This was our seventh year staying here. Bob and Ann never stop thinking of ways to improve the experience. Ann's rental is our home away from home. Meticulous maintenance and upkeep paired with every amenity you could think of or want. We spend two weeks here every year and it's never enough.

Simply the Best!
What can be said that hasn’t already been said about this place? It is simply outstanding! This is our 7th visit to Bob and Ann’s and year after year the place is incredible...relaxing, peaceful, enjoyable. Bob and Ann have not relaxed their standards and you can expect the highest quality of stay that is within their power. If you have any questions or concerns they are quick to respond in an effort to make your vacation wonderful. The apartment is well appointed with almost anything you would need. Really, don’t bother packing shampoo, use that space for sunscreen! :) We highly recommend Ann’s Rental for your vacation. You won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful and Restorative
Despite arriving in the worst rain storm our hosts had seen in 10 years, and getting lost several times on the way, our stay at Bob and Ann's was all we hoped it would be. We stayed with our son Mark who is serving in the Peace Corp, and he needed a spot to work and rest! Bob and Ann had an apple pie waiting for us, since they knew Mark hadn't had any American food for over a year. But even sweeter were the Wisconsin-made brats they produced when we told them that was the food Mark was missing the most! The rachero was my favorite spot to relax. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and a wonderful breeze. The apartement has everything you could need and more! The pool is delightful, large enough to swim laps and the beach,at low tide, is a great place to power walk. We rested and were restored after our week's stay! One bit of advice is to arrive before dark because it's a bit difficult to find.

Ein Traum!
Wir hatten das große Vergnügen, zum Abschluss unseres Panamaurlaubes vier wundervolle Tage in dem wunderschönen Haus von Bob und Ann zu verbringen. Es ist einfach zauberhaft. Das Haus steht auf einer Anhöhe mit traumhaften Blick auf den Ozean und direktem Strandzugang. Der große Infinity-Pool direkt vor der Ferienwohnung war unser persönliches Highlight. Wir haben soooo viel Zeit darin verbracht. Die tollen Schwimmsessel haben wir geliebt. Und da in der Küche sogar schicke Plastikgläser für die Nutzung am Pool vorhanden waren, konnten wir auch hin und wieder einen Cocktail genießen. Frühstück gab es immer in dem kleinen Pavillon über dem Meer, man sitzt dort phantastisch, und in den Hängematten war es noch besser. Abendessen gab es auf der schönen Terrasse mit dem riesigen Gasgrill, den wir ausgiebig genutzt haben. Lecker... Die Wohnnung selbst war wunderbar geräumig, modern und mit viel Geschmack eingerichtet, super sauber und es fehlte einfach an nichts. Die Küche war perfekt ausgestattet und Bob und Ann hatten vor unserer Ankunft Bier, Wein, Softdrinks, Kaffee und einen kleinen Vorrat an Lebensmitteln bereit gelegt, so dass wir am ersten Abend und auch am nächsten Morgen auf jeden Fall versorgt gewesen wären. Auch die Bäder ließen keine Wünsche offen und es waren alle nur denkbaren Reinigungs- und Pflegeprodukte sowie reichlich Handtücher vorhanden. Man braucht eigentlich nur Badesachen und eine Zahnbürste mitzubringen.
Im schicken Wohnzimmer gab es eine sehr gute Soundanlage und einen großen Flachbildfernseher. WiFi funktionierte super. Die Klimaanlage ebenso. Vor allen Fenstern und Türen waren Fliegengitter. Das vordere Schlafzimmer hatte eine große durchgehende Front aus Sonnen- und Sichtschutzglas. Der Blick auf den Ozean beim Aufwachen war einfach der Hammer. Zu erwähnen wäre auch noch der wunderschöne, gepflegte Garten, in dem unter anderem Bananen, Kokosnüsse, Maracujas, Ananas und andere tropische Früchte wachsen.
Bob und Ann sind die liebsten und fürsorglichsten Vermieter, die man sich vorstellen kann. Super freundlich, zurückhaltend, aber bei Fragen und Wünschen aller Art sofort zur Stelle. Vielen Dank, liebe Ann, für das frisch gebackene Brot. Es war sooo lecker...

Outstanding! Year after year, after year!
This was our 6th year spending a month in Panama at Ann's Rental. Year after year, Bob and Ann exceed our expectations. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! They go out of their way to make sure your vacation there is nothing short of fabulous. Incredibly relaxing, amazing views, phenomenal sunsets. Definitely worth the visit. But just not in January! We're already booked!

Perfect service very lovley owners
After 5 days in Panama City and an interesting trip on the Pan-Am Highway we finally made it to Ann's rental in Boca Chica.
We decided "last minute" to book at Ann's rental and what we found was way above our expectations. Ann and Bob a very nice couple from the UK that build their Dream home in Boca Chica, made us feel home from the first second. The fridge was already full with very good and fresh food and drinks when we arrive. So we could really focus on "to enjoy our stay". This guys brought vacation rental for us to the next level. From a cell phone to food AND drinks in the fridge to lil presents for our daughter (4 years) all was just perfect. If I could I would give them 10 Stars for their very nice and amazing location. The condo was very clean well maintained and as I said they are very very nicy people. The only negative point for us, was the weather when we stayed there during end of November (lots of rain). But still, Ann and Bob did their very best to make us the time as nice as they could and organized us all we wanted and need. The enviroment and pool are amazing and the view of over the bay is just amazing. I recommend Ann's rental as the place " to go to" when visit BC.

Beyond expectation!!
First, this review is way overdo. We had the pleasure of spending 8 days with Bob, Ann and their 3 dogs. The apartment itself could not have been nicer with excellent views and every imaginable comfort. The property sits just above the beach which most days we had completely to ourselves along with the dogs walking with us. With the well stocked kitchen it would be hard pressed to find a better deal or more caring and gracious hosts. We wanted a very relaxing and pieceful vacation, and with the beautiful pool and rancho all to ourselves we could not have asked for more. So if you are looking for the perfect hosts, a beautiful property, and a secluded beach this is the place for you. We would go back in a heartbeat if we get to this area of Panama again. Thanks again Ann and Bob for helping our vacation one of the best we ever experienced.

Secret Paradise Location
W O W - wish I could give more than five stars. If you have not already, read the reviews from VRBO to get the complete picture. This is an attempt to minimize duplicate information while adding our perspective.
This place is much better than described and exceeded our expectations. That was a challenge with all the glowing reviews.
This is a super-fantastic 2 bedroom apartment in a tranquil, ideal setting. We will certainly return, and of all the places we have stayed around the world, this one is at the complete top of my list.
Warning: if you are looking for lots of interactions with lots of people, this is not ideal. If you are looking to unwind with beautiful views and sounds (of birds, howler monkeys, and of the ocean), this is for you.
My favorite things here were the views, the pool, the initial stock of groceries, and the outstanding customer service from Bob and Ann. They truly welcomed us like family.
The journey from the Pan American Highway is scenic, and almost all paved. The bumps in the road for the last mile are certainly worth it.
I can hardly wait to return!

Fantastic - absolutely deserves 5 stars
We had 5 glorious days and nights here in May 2016. Ann, Bob and the 3 wonderful dogs greeted us as if we were friends, showed us the amazing apartment - and then allowed us to enjoy their beautiful property as if it was our own. They appear when you need them, but also leave you to have a totally relaxing, and private vacation.
Ann and Bob have actually lived in the apartment, and now live in the house above it - and therefore they know it contains everything you could possibly need to make your vacation amazing. Food and drink in the fridge, cooking ingredients in the cupboard, every electrical and cooking appliance you could need, books, games, DVDs, beach and pool toys, plus the apartment is absolutely spotless and the beds super-comfortable.
We bought groceries on the way in David - and our days were spent on the beach and in the pool.
Everyone who rents out a holiday home should stay here - this is the best of the best!

Absolutely perfect
Ann and Bob´s apartment is exceptional. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. The views over the bay are incredible and the beautifully kept swimming pool an absolute delight. Ann and Bob showed us around when we arrived and explained how everything worked - they had thought of everything to ensure that their guests were comfortable and happy. In fact they were the perfect hosts and we had such a good time staying there that we didn´t want to leave. We really appreciated all the added extras - the fridge had been stocked with staples - bacon, ham, cheese, eggs, milk, bread, butter salad and there was a lovely selection of fresh fruit and a complimentary bottle of wine. Additional things like mayonnaise, mustard, herbs, beers, coffee - infact all the little extras that you need to cook with. Also Ann and Bob arranged for a local fisherman to bring us a selection of fish caught that day for us to buy.
We really enjoyed being taken for walks along the beach by Jake, Leo and Smokey who are adorable dogs. The surrounding scenery is also breathtaking. We drove up into the mountains to Boquete, to a local Indian village and also took a ferry over the one of the nearby islands. We also discovered two wonderful restaurant at a hotels in Boca Chica and local restaurants serving lobster. Having said that there is a phenomenal BBQ at the apartment, which we also used to cook at our meals.
I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this incredible apartment for a truly relaxing and amazing holiday. Nothing is too much trouble for Ann and Bob. This was by far the nicest apartment we have ever stayed in and was absolutely perfect for us - very romantic.

If you plan on visiting Panama and truly want to enjoy your vacation in a relaxing, private and peaceful environment than this is your place! Located directly on the Pacific Ocean it is absolutely gorgeous. I would wake up every morning and walk down to the beach to do a little exploring. The views never disappointed. The infinity pool was perfect for relaxing day or night and was very refreshing. We went on vacation with four adults and there was plenty of space. We were able to easily book a snorkeling excursion and a white water rafting trip. Also, a restaurant that served fresh, delicious lobster was within walking distance. We visited Arturo's restaurant several times during our stay and were continually pleased with the food quality and service. Ann and Bob were amazing hosts. They literally thought of everything. We went grocery shopping before we arrived at their condo and seriously, we should have held off because the fridge was already stocked with food ranging from eggs and bacon to delicious cheese to beer, wine and OJ. Every condiment you needed was there and every gadget to cook with was already provided. Ann and Bob did not stop there. They also provided a gorgeous fruit basket that included a lovely fruit I never had the opportunity to try before called mangosteen. They even gave us some fresh fish to cook. The level of comfort they provided was exceptional. When initially booking the reservation, I was concerned about having the owners on the same property. Rest assured it was a non-issue. We had all of the privacy we needed with the comfort of having Ann and Bob nearby to spoil us and answer any questions we had. They even took time to take us to a location in the mountains with beautiful waterfalls where we were able to explore and visit an authentic Indian village. The condo was perfect, the views breathtaking and Ann and Bob were wonderful hosts. Our vacation at Ann and Bob's exceeded our expectations. Staying at their place was an absolute delight and we cannot wait to come back! Thank you Ann and Bob for everything.

We are a family of 4 with kids ages 9 and 11. We are from Panama and live in the U.S. since 2006. My kids love Chiriqui, that is where my family is from and so we go there every year. We chose this place because it was near to David and because of the reviews...we had to see it to believe it! My kids told me they would just spend the day and go back to David to my mom´s house to sleep. Ha-ha, they had so much fun that stayed with us the whole 3 nights! I agree with one of the reviews when they wrote "you only need your toothbrush"...this place has everything (yes, it is true what others say about the fridge and pantry) and Bod and Ann are the greatest. As a panamanian, it makes me so proud that people like them come to retire in my beautiful country. They have an amazing house that feels like home...I got what a was looking for...to relax and enjoy our family. Thanks Bob and Ann, hope to see you again soon :)

We arrived as a family of 3 adults to this serene, beautiful property and found the photos did not do justice to the lovely property and stunning views. Our expectations were profoundly exceeded by what we encountered.
The personal attention and true interest expressed in our comfort and safety were amazing to us. The home was beautifully furnished. We were provided a map on how to arrive which was detailed. We were oriented to the home and property, the local resources, fishing, restaurants, sight-seeing and felt so welcome. A cell phone with local access was provided. Our calls for help were welcome! The kitchen was fully stocked with plentiful delicious fresh fruit, drinks, cheese, condiments, eggs, breakfast foods, pasta and every utensil you could possibly need. Pool towels, coolers, toys, floaters were al lincluded. the lights did go out briefly --- but powerful flashlights were available and we were safe. What a beach! Although a remote location, we had directions on how to visit local sites. ............. We had a wonderful experience and recommend it without hesitation!! Thank you for your home!

My daughter and I stayed at Ann and Bob's beautiful home in April. They are a great host and hostess, very helpful with everything. The apartment is spacious and decorated for your comfort. Ann furnished the kitchen with things necessary for you to cook any meal you wanted. There was more fruit than we could eat and arranged beautifully on the bar. We took side trips to Boquete, a must. Mi Jardin Su Jardin is a must see in Boquete. It is so beautiful. We saw the howler monkeys which was very interesting. We also went to Las Lajas Beach Resort. It was beautiful and we had the beach to ourselves. We are already planning a trip back to this lovely apartment. Thank you Ann and Bob for making our vacation perfect.

How does one describe perfection? That morning rainbow glowing behind the pool? A fridge stocked with all our favorite foods? Ann and Bob as hosts, there when you need to ask a question or unobtrusive otherwise? A deserted beach to stroll on at sunrise and sunset? Floating on our backs in the infinity pool after dark, being reminded that there is a Milky Way? All of these and more, I think. We rejuvenated, relaxed, walked, explored and fell in love with it all. Thank you Ann and Bob (and pups Jake, Leo and Cleo) SO much for your gracious hospitality.
If you have time and feel adventurous, do go up to the howler monkey rescue. Definitely worth the trip. Not too far past this entrance on the same side of the street there is a fairly substantial fruit stand that is definitely worth the stop. We bought enormous papaya and watermelon so luscious and inexpensive, and ice cold coconut, popped open for us to drink on the spot (a whopping 20 cents a piece!)

I was going to write this review before I left, but we were having too much fun! My husband and I just spent 16 nights in paradise. Following a long day of travel, we arrived late in the evening to welcoming hosts. Bob and Ann made us feel right at home immediately. Bob, let me call my Mom in the States and then handed me the cell phone to use for the rest of our stay. When I opened the fridge, I about fainted! It was so well stocked with all sorts of goodies and a huge tray of fresh fruit. Top that off with a bottle of rum, we headed straight for the pool. Not before checking out our beautiful villa. It was so so pretty and immaculate. Beautifully done and furnished with comfy white leather sectional in living area. Bathrooms were lovely, large rain showers that we enjoyed. I bathed with the parrots flying by my window every morning. It is true the pictures in really can't describe what stunning views you will see. Loved the large terrace, where we spent every morning with fresh goodies and coffee. We grilled out most evenings, on very easy to use, state of the art, gas BBQ. Our favorite were Lobster Tails, skewered (so the tails don't curl) and dipped in butter n garlic, YUMMM. They have tons of pineapples growing, in addition to others fruits growing on the property. The palm trees are much bigger now than the pics indicate. We lived in that pool. It is beautiful. I swam laps everyday to beautiful music and birds coming in for a sip of water. Did I mention, lots of birds to see. Our favorites were the parrots they looked like flying emeralds. Probably one of the highlights of our trip, was the day trip out to Isla Bolanos! As close as you are going to get to Tahiti! Fabulous day, and snorkeling was a huge success. Day trip to Boquette a must, we toured the Tuesday market and then to "Rocks" for lunch, fabulous meal, by the river. We met very welcoming people all around and some ex-pats in and around Boca Chica. So we already have friends to see, when we come back. And we will be back! I would recommend this charming location to everyone. We just couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Or for that matter better host's than Bob and Ann! I miss their doggies too. We planned this vacation for almost a year and it certainly exceeded our expectations. We spent four weeks here and couldn't be more pleased. Bob and Ann were wonderful hosts. When we arrived they were eager to show us the apartment. It is clean, so white, and comfortable. We were delighted with the full bowl of fruit that awaited us in the kitchen and pleased to find the refrigerator fully stocked --- more than enough for the first days there. Bob and Ann live on the property and, yet, we felt we totally had our privacy at all times. The pictures do accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities. The pool was beautiful and the view from the balcony was breathtaking every single day. The stairs to the beach are very well made and make the trip to the beach easy. Finding sand dollars on the beach every day was one of the highlights of the trip!! The beach also is scattered with beautiful colored rocks and pebbles. And what sunsets! We made it a habit to see the sun set each day and the sunsets were amazing. One of the special things that Bob and Ann have for their guests is a book that lists all the activities to do in the area. This was most helpful as we planned a few "road trips" to see more of the country. We traveled weekly into David (about fifty minutes) to get groceries. Bob and Ann usually went to David once a week as well and always asked us if we would like them to pick up something for us. The restaurant that they recommended between Boca Chica and Panama City is beautiful. I would recommend that guests would fly into David. The drive from David to Boca Chica is easy and allows for more time spent at the location. We travelled also to Boguete --- a great day drive I would highly recommend --- and be sure to stop at the locally owned book store along the way. The beach at Las Lajas is another place to visit--Only a short drive from the house, great restaurant (fish and chips are wonderful). Bob and Ann describe the beach as long enough to land a 747 and it's true. The apartment has a great library of movies, books, games, and music. This area is famous for its backpacking if that is an interest of yours. If you are looking for a place to really "get away from it all" this is the place. We would highly recommend this property. Hospitality--excellent. Property -- excellent. Would we go back? Absolutely, we are already looking at the calendar to re-book for next year!

We have just had the wonderful, good fortune of spending over 2 weeks with Ann and Bob at their beautiful ‘get-a-way’ on Playa Hermosa. I found their web-site the prior June when I was searching for a place to stay while in Panama. We actually flew to Panama City and rented a car, so had a chance to see the countryside of Panama on our way there. When I saw how beautiful their property was, I was ‘hooked’ and just had to go see for ourselves. And believe me: “the pictures do not do it justice” as it is even lovelier than it appears. Every word you read in people’s reviews is not in the least exaggerated; in fact everything is exactly as described, only better.
The one thing that is more beautiful than the property itself, are the owners themselves! They are truly sincere, caring, thoughtful and loving folks. Not only do they offer up their home to use as your own, they make you feel that ‘it is your own’. There is everything and more than you would have in your own home, and all for your own use. It makes that huge difference that is unlike any hotel or villa that we’ve ever stayed in. There should be more than a five star rating for accommodations such as yours M&M Summerfield! But above all, I believe it is the people themselves that put their rating ‘over the top’ for us.
There is so much to do and see from this location too, as others have stated. We found the locals to be very friendly and helpful, and we did do a lot of driving around to view the different areas. The mountain drives were awesome; we were amazed by the different terrains in all the areas. Even the ocean boat trips were so amazingly different than what we have seen before. All just so lovely! Not only did we see all of this, but we were able to see Howler monkeys in their own free habitat, the Miraflores Locks in the Panama Canal, and, on one ocean trip, dolphins frolicking playfully.
And having a marvelous huge pool and rancho all to yourselves…………who could wish for more! But there is more…….lots more! Peace and quiet and tranquility ………..whatever you wish for----it can be found here. I really am at a loss for words to properly describe this ‘totally all around wonderful place and experience. ‘
We are surely going back for at least a month next time………any less would be just too short, as these 2 weeks fairly flew by. Our most heartfelt Thanks Ann & Bob for this Big Piece of Heaven on Earth. And Thanks to God for having let me find it! Cheers!

Mr. Bob and Mrs. Ann are fabulous folks! She is well qualified to teach a class on Southern Hospitality and I asked her to give our two children lessons in etiquette, hoping her British accent would stick with them! In preparation for our week-long stay, I made a list of supplies and specific food items that Ann purchased for us at PriceSmart/Costco, including Huggies Diapers & Gilette Shaving Gel. Our children, ages 2 & 5 yrs old, were so excited to find ice cream in the freezer, juice boxes and Goldfish crackers. The Summerfields welcomed our children with special gifts, DVD's and toys. Our daughter couldn't wait to see them and their dogs each morning--it was like spending the night with grandparents! There were plenty of sand toys & pool floats, beach towels & umbrellas, various cooler sizes for picnics at the beach or small snacks to take on the road. My husband went fishing with Bob a few times and caught plenty of Wahoo & Dorado, which we grilled ourselves (on a fabulous gas grill) or carried to Arturo to prepare. Ann provided a variety of seasonings, herbs, spices and sauces. The children enjoyed playing on the beach and finding thousands of live sand dollars every day! We made it home with a few of the dried ones (bubble wrap compliments of Bob). ANYTHING we needed or mentioned we would like to have was provided by the Summerfields, usually within 30 seconds of the request (batteries, nail polish, chocolate ice cream). Bob & Ann were always available but never intruded. Ann chauffered me & the children one day into the city for some shopping at the Super Rey, PriceSmart, & Department Store. We really enjoyed spending time at the nearby MONKEY LODGE. It's rainforest and natural habitat for the wildlife & botanical gardens we observed were wonderful experiences for us but especially our children (even though a monkey did bite me on the arm!). We can't wait for the direct flight service from U.S.A. into David to begin! My husband and Bob are already planning their next fishing adventure & scoping out real estate deals! We were also pleased with the quality (+ low prices) of produce and fresh fish available on the sides of the road on the PanAmerican Highway at produce stands and "fish stools" ($3 US Dollars bought us fresh pineapples, bananas, oranges, limes, bell peppers, papayas & some other produce we tried). yes, three dollars. The Summerfields made us feel very much at home and we will treasure their friendship and our memories made @ ANNSRENTAL
