Situated in Samara, this attractive villa for $135 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Villa Veranera is a 1-bedroom, 1-bath luxury villa with spectacular views overlooking Samara and Carrillo Bays. Hear the sounds of the surf with gentle sea breezes sifting through, with monkeys, birds and nature in a tropical setting. “Veranera” is the Spanish word for “Bougainvillea” and the property is surrounded with these beautiful flowers. Location is an approx. 3 min. drive or 10-15 min. walk to the beach and a 5 min. drive or additional 10-min. walk to town. Distance to the beach is 7/10ths of a mile or 1.1 kms. Magical location with the best perch to enjoy the spectacular view. Better than the pictures! Sherry and Larry were so kind and welcoming and the villa was perfectly set up with lots of space. Even the kitchen has a view. We enjoyed walking to the beach and back every morning and then exploring the rest of the area during the day. Beautiful!

We had an amazing time at Larry & Sherry’s beautiful guest villa. Every detail of the unit was well thought out and intentional. You can really tell they have put a lot of thought into making sure it’s just right for the guests. It was hard to leave it was so perfect. From the most epic view on the balcony, to the lovely pool and a wonderful happy hour with the hosts, we had a great time. We hope to come back next time we’re in Samara. Fully recommend!!

This was a very special trip for us as we decided to take a second honeymoon and we stayed 12 nights. It was our first trip out of the United States. The view from the balcony was spectacular! Larry and Sherry were wonderful hosts. We SO appreciate them going to Carrillo Beach with us and taking pictures/videoing while we said our renewal vows to each other. That was so special and something we'll never forget. We totally enjoyed them guiding us on a quad ride through the countryside also. What a way to experience the culture and overall beauty of the country. The home was very clean and comfortable. The only problem we experienced was that the refrigerator wasn't working well at all. They tried to get it fixed, but finally had to replace it. They did let us use the small refrigerator in the garage and refunded us some money to make up for the inconvenience. We loved the balcony and private pool! We do recommend a 4-wheel drive as the drive up is partially a rough uphill drive. Nativos Car Rental in Liberia is a great local car rental company and will treat you right. Anibal Morales is the owner and he was fabulous. We went on a few adventures for which both companies picked us up at the house and brought us back. We highly recommend the zipline/sky walk/sky tram tour at Monteverde through the Nature Center in Samara and the dolphin/snorkeling tour through Samara Adventures. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay 2 more weeks!

We loved our stay in Samara. Sherry and Larry are the absolute best hostess and host. We enjoyed “happy hour” with them on a couple of evenings. The views are amazing and the people of Samara are very friendly and kind!

We had a wonderful stay at the Villa! Sherry & Larry were wonderful hosts and so accommodating. We had everything we needed especially for a trip to the beach! We can’t thank you both for all of your hospitality to making it a fun and relaxed trip for us. Your home is beautiful and the views from the pool are something we will remember forever!

There is not much to add as all reviews are excellent and this one is no exception. Of course THE VIEW is unbeleivable. The host are the best. If you have issues walking you should rent a car as it's up-hill walking back to the house. We were there 3 weeks so we rented a car from Samara Hot Rental in town and they had the best price. Small car for $70 bucks a day and we drove all over but try to stay on paved road unless you have a 4X4. We stayed overnight different places and all was good. There are lots of restaurant in Samara. If you want to eat cheap go to what they call a SODA. Besides that our two favorite places to eat with good food and resonable price was at the Sheriff behind police station and the one in the food court which I can't remember the name but it's mostly vegan and the salads are really good and big portions. If you have a sweet tooth go to ROOTS bakerry open for breakfast and lunch. A must see is The Carrillo Beach. About 5-10 minutes drive from the house. Whoever designed that beach deserves an award. It's stunning. Every Saturday morning in Samara is the farmers market which is nice. Ticos are very friendly people and proud of there country with good reason. Sherry, and Larry were amazing hosts, they were extremely welcoming and made us feel as if we were part of their family. We enjoyed happy hour with them, we had a few drinks while enjoying the spectacular vista's.

We loved everything about our stay: the private pool, the view of the sunset and sunrise from the balcony, the howler monkeys, the location and more. The kitchen was fully equiped, the bed was comfortable and the property was really clean. We did not want to leave.

Such a nice town with a beautiful beach! Larry and Sherry are just lovely and super helpful with everything! Definitely would return on our next visit to Samara! The howler monkeys off the balcony were a real treat too!

Beautiful home and location on the hillside! We went to the beach Playa Carrillo everyday, a short drive south of their home and enjoyed the beach and warm ocean water. Plus used the pool in the afternoons! Larry and Sherry are great host and their property is immaculate... plus howler monkeys in their neighborhood!

Property had some wonderful views, nice pool and had most of the things needed in kitchen. Plenty of extra towels and linens. Larry was very helpful at suggesting some local attractions. We only spoke with Sherry one of the nights and didn’t have much other interaction. Owners kept away to allow for privacy and only checked in while passing through the yard. A couple small complaints were that the place did need some wiping and cleaning up of spider webs and bug issues. There are many webs up in the cupboards over the extra linens and pillows We noticed the window screens seems to be loose or have gaps and many bugs came in. Bugs are expected in Costa Rica though, but dealing some gaps would help. The ceiling fan and the box fan were very weak and didn’t really work. Some positives were the use of pool, gate access to come and go and the use of washing machine. Those were great additions to the property. Overall a nice visit and beautiful views.

A Dream

Well appointed apartment with stunning views
We really enjoyed our stay with Larry and Sherry. Friendly couple with a stunning property, beautiful views and lovely pool that we had to ourselves. The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed including a cooler for the beach, towels, etc. And everything worked! (unlike our last place?!) The only challenge is that it really isn’t within easy walking distance to Samara town centre or the beach so we rented a scooter from El Cactus Scooters for the first week and a car from Alamo for the 2nd week. Being at a distance means that it is quiet though so we really appreciated that. Would highly recommend!

Amazing place to relax and unwind
Walking distance from the beach and an incredible view of the ocean this place was all I could have hopped for! There were some bug issues but being in Costa Rica. Access to laundry and a nice little town that is a great place to eat and spend your time away!

Perfect place for family trip

Samara Dream
What a wonderful trip! This was our 7th trip to CR and we just loved Samara. Sherry & Larry were wonderful, we didn't spend much time with them as we just enjoyed getting away alone and having some time to ourselves after the year we have had. We loved the property, the view, the amenities. Close to so many beautiful beaches, ocean view was amazing, monkeys right in front of our balcony! We hope to be back again this year! Thank you so much!!!

Amazing to be Back!!
It was great to be back. Sherry and Larry have gone above and beyond to ensure sanitizers and cleaning agents are available in the unit. We felt safe and healthy our entire stay. We always love staying here, and will continue to do so in the future.

We completely enjoyed our stay. Larry and Sherry were great hosts! The property was beautiful! The view and the pool were excellent. We had Howler Monkeys stay in the tree 40' off the balcony overnight and most of the day. Happy Hour every night was also fun. Will be staying there again.

Stunning views!
My husband & I visited Sámara in March, 2020 and loved our stay! This was our 4th visit to Costa Rica and the first to Sámara. Firstly, the villa is clean & well equipped from the toiletries to the beach lawn chairs, umbrella & cooler. The balcony and pool area are very private & relaxing. Larry & Sherry are awesome hosts and we truly enjoyed our sunset visits with them. Sámara is close by with wonderful beach access, shopping and restaurants. One absolute must....visit Carrillo beach and if you are adventurous, try a gyrocopter ride. This trip was one of our favourite and look forward to returning!

This was the best vacation we have had!! We loved our hosts Larry and Sherry, who went out of their way to make us feel truly at home. Our accomodations were esthetically pleasing, super clean, with a glorious view of sunrise and sunset! The pool was clean and inviting! They gave us perfect advice about getting around Samara, and because of it we enjoyed every single moment. The perfect venue with the perfect hosts. Cannot wait to return March 2021!!!!

wonderful stay in Samara!
We just spent a lovely week at Villa Veranera. This was our second time at Larry and Sherry's villa, which says a lot. This cozy one bedroom apartment is clean, has well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedroom with A/C and the most amazing panoramic view! The pool is a lovely break from the afternoon heat. We loved waking up to enjoy the beautiful view every morning. Samara is a laid back town with lots of restaurants, a few shops and a beautiful beach. While we didn't get to Carillo on this trip, it is also a lovely beach to visit. A few favourites: Luv Burger on the beach, yoga with Karina, visits from Howler monkeys in the trees outside the villa - amazing! and just spending timing at the villa relaxing.
Larry and Sherry are lovely, welcoming hosts. They are always there if you need anything, and you are always welcome to join them for a cocktail at sunset. As always, we loved our stay in Samara and would definitely recommend Villa Veranera. Thank you, Larry and Sherry, for sharing your beautiful home with us!
