About this house rental
This house was built twenty years to the exacting standards of a Mexican architect and an American owner. It has been well maintained and updated, as necessary. Located on a small dead-end street, the property is walking distance to everything in Oaxaca's historic center, but is remarkably quiet, especially in the evenings and at night.
On the ground floor you'll find a small sitting room, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, all of which open to the interior courtyard. There is also an office with a futon that opens into a full-sized bed and a half bath. One floor up, you'll find the large master bedroom with queen sized bed and bath, with two sinks and a shower. This level also has two roof decks with lovely city and mountain views. On the top floor, there is a small bedroom with a full sized bed and a small bath with shower. This level also has a roof deck with lovely views and privacy.
The house has wifi throughout and a telephone you are welcome to use for calls within Mexico or to the United States and Canada.
Within a couple of blocks of the house, you'll find several good restaurants, coffee shops, a traditional covered market, and shops of various kinds. Santo Domingo, the zocalo and other tourist attractions are all reachable by foot in ten to fifteen minutes. The bus station is nearby and cabs are easily hailed on nearby streets
The owners of the property are Americans who fell in love with Oaxaca and wanted a home base in the city from which to explore the region. The house has been set up for our comfort and we trust you will be as happy there as we are.
Our local property manager, Amado, will meet you at the property when you arrive and is available to help with any issues that arrive during your stay. He is also an excellent source of information about Oaxaca. While we will most likely not be in Oaxaca when you are there, we are always available by phone or e-mail.
Alma will come to clean the house once a week and can be hired directly should you wish her to come more frequently.

Could not have imagined a better home base for our three weeks in Oaxaca. The house is beautiful, such special architecture and details, incredible art, well equipped kitchen, amazing natural light upstairs and is cool downstairs, and more than ample indoor and outdoor living spaces. The views of the mountains from both bedrooms were so moving. Beds and pillows are comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was nice. Great water pressure and hot water. We were both working remotely and having separate workspaces with desks was great. The WiFi is as reliable as it gets here. There is no AC and it can get pretty hot in the house during the day so we often started working upstairs and then moved down and that was totally fine for us. We aren’t AC people and sleeping with all of the windows and doors open was so lovely for us. The only thing that would make this place better is more comfortable seating on the roof areas like a chaise or two, and a table and umbrella for shade. It was great to have weekly cleaning. I think this is the perfect neighbourhood- a short 15-20 minute walk into the centro and far enough away to be restful. Really nice to have the market around the corner, fresh tortillas, and a great bakery. Def get a crepe around the corner, catch a show at La jicara and wander the sweet streets. You won’t regret your stay here. Thank you Robert for having us!

We loved this casita. It was in a good location on a street with very little traffic. There is a good taco shop (El Sabor de Cecy) a block away. I loved walking the two blocks to the mercado with the vendors selling cheese, meat, bread, fruit, fresh flowers and yummy tamales. It is about 850 meters walk to La catedral restaurante for something more high end. ( the eggs benedict there were the best I have ever had) The place is just like the pictures. We loved the two spacious terraces with views of the mountains and the city. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to cook in. It really shows when the owner actually spends some time in a vacation rental. There is everything you need for your stay and it has a very homey, comfortable feel about it. There is some unique art work in the home that I enjoyed trying to figure out the meaning of. I loved the beautiful custom wood staircase. We stayed in Oaxaca for 18 days so we really appreciated how spacious and comfortable everything was. Robert was great about answering questions before our arrival and Amado, the property manager, was there to greet us and explain some things about the property. It was good to have him good over some things. We never did get the hang of the trash collection in the city. Ha ha. They ring a bell at some random time and you bring the trash out. But, there is an outdoor trash receptacle we used. We were there the last two weeks in October and the weather was perfect. Very clean.

The house is even more beautiful than the pictures! Delightful indoor and outdoor spaces! Each floor has its own bathroom and a patio. Amado greeted us when we arrived and helped out with all of our needs. We highly recommend this lovely home to anyone traveling to Oaxaca!
