Situated in Concan, this lovely cabin for $250 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. La Casita is a romantic, rock cottage nestled among massive agave plants, lush palms and cedar trees overlooking the Frio River, mountains & valley. Elegant and sophisticated on the outside, cozy and enchanting on the inside, this cabin will melt your heart. Exceptional in every way, La Casita is the perfect getaway cabin for those seeking an extraordinary experience and alfresco living! Amid the solitude, start your day by stoking the fire in the wood burning stove while making morning coffee. This charming cabin is simply, but thoughtfully furnished, with no detail overlooked. La Casita invites you to slow down and stay a while. La Casita is the perfect place to escape from the ordinary. This expertly built, white rock cabin is a private guest house to a spectacular estate high in the clouds, yet only 5 minutes to the Frio River. Plenty of parking in the circular driveway, you walk along an elevated pathway and immediately be taken in by the sheer beauty of the mountain range and the Frio River below your private covered deck. There's a BBQ grill and burner on the deck for making meals, or just sit on the comfy bar stools with a glass of wine and take in the dramatic views. Once you enter La Casita, you immediately feel that your vacation has started. The kitchen, dining room and living room are one large, open concept room that spells like heaven from the cedar walls & ceiling. A thoughtful balance of light and coolness, the vaulted ceiling lets light stream in through a wall of view widows. The expansive skyline is reflected on the living room walls and rich, aged timber ceiling beams that frame the picture perfect views. Your eyes will be drawn to the walls filled with ducks, deer, snow shoes and other outdoor nostalgia. Antique dining room table, cabinets and fully stocked kitchen. Hanging wall lanterns are next to the beds for added character. As night falls the outdoor lighting illuminates the walkway and deck to enjoy in the evening sunsets against the cliffs walls over the Frio River. From the comfortable leather sofa, rustic decor and artistic touches throughout, everything is picture perfect. The quaint kitchen centers around the owners family heirloom stove that is fully functional. The custom made stove vent is from reclaimed barn wood, and the corner cabinet is well stocked. This is the place to open a bottle of wine, reconnect and start counting your blessings. With 2 bedrooms decorated to capture maximum comfort and sophisticated charm, you will love sleeping in. Don't miss the bathrooms tile shower, cedar slab counter and plenty of small touches to invoke serenity and calm. This is an excellent location for bird watching. Red-tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, White-tailed Kite, Zone-tailed Hawk, Long-billed Thrasher, Northern Mockingbird, Northern Bobwhite, Wild Turkey, Purple House Finch,, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Hooded Oriole, Eastern Bluebird, Flycatcher, Black crested Titmouse. The added bonus is both sheets and towels are included in the nightly fee. There is not another cabin that compares to La Casita. This well appointed cabin is both comfortable and beautiful on the inside and out. From the luscious potted plants that greet you on the elevated walkway, to the antique stove that had seen generations of lovingly prepared meals, to the comfy bed and linens, this cabin has everything you need. Although this cabin could be child friendly for a summer getaway to the Frio river, we enjoyed the quiet evenings on the perched porch. The birdwatching was exceptional. I imagine that this cabin would be a wonderful getaway any month of the year. It has air conditioning, but also a real wood burning stove! You can tell that this cabin was built with love by the owners, and it is decorated with sentimental pieces of the family’s history. My recommendation is to bring plenty of food to cook at the cabin and maximize your time there. The drive from Austin is gorgeous if you avoid San Antonio traffic. Best to bring folding chairs if you decide to head to one of the state parks. The owners are politely accessible. They live next door in this slice of Heaven on Earth.
There is a television, but we never even turned it on. The view was too magnificent to look away from. We can’t wait to return. Bill and Amelia

We ended our summer with a trip to the Frio and stayed at La Casita. This is our second visit to this cabin that has everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The breathtaking views are are great way to start and end the day.

This place is ADORABLE! We had the most amazing trip to the river with our family. It was so magical. The view is breathtaking and the river is as well. The owners are also the sweetest people ever! We loved everything about our stay and plan to definitely come back. Also even though we were in the middle of a drought there were still a ton of different places on the river to go swim!

Fantastic view and birdwatching!
Our stay at La Casita was wonderful. We woke up to spectacular sunrises and birdsong. The variety of birds is incredible. The area is quiet, peaceful and the cabin is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. The owners next door are friendly and helpful.
We were visiting family for a reunion and this was the perfect place to get away for some quiet time and recharge.

Step back in time
It was a unique experience to stay at this cabin. The outdoor activities were amazing (bird watching on the back porch, stepping out to take a walk and hike, visiting the Frio, gazing at the stars). The indoor activities were relaxing (cooking on an antique stove, catching up with family). Bring a couple of lounge chairs and some thin mattress pads for all out comfort (but you might want to stay forever).

Amazing getaway and perfect place to stay!
We loved staying at LaCasita! The images of the property are exactly what you see. Not all locations come with everything, but this place really does. This is a peaceful, secluded location with amazing views of the hill country and countless birds. The check in proceed and communication was exceptional and we would stay there again. Highly recommend

Beautiful and Cozy Home
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. I spent all morning drinking my coffee and enjoying the birds and other wildlife on the balcony. The view was amazing. This may become are recurring home away from home when we visit the area. Thank you Mike for showing us around and making us feel welcomed.

Beautiful Property
This cottage is magical. We loved watching all the varieties of birds at the feeders and the armadillo rooting around down below in the evening. Owners were next door and very helpful.

Charming Cabin
The cabin was perfect for a winter getaway from city life. The kitchen is well equipped and the cabin was spotless. The view from the patio is the perfect place to watch the sunset. In the morning, drinking coffee and watching all the birds come to feed was very peaceful. I’m native to Texas, but saw birds I’d never seen previously. The owners are next door, friendly and helpful. If you need a quiet break, book your stay!

Beautiful location, rustic hilltop setting overlooking a valley, beautiful house made from the native rock, flowers and trees surrounded the home and inside accommodations were calling us to stop and stay a while, which we did much to our delight.

Perfect for our family of 4
This property was perfect for my family of 4. It had everything we needed for our stay. The view is so much better in person than in pictures.
The oven is from the 1940s and so you need to light the pilot light to use it. It worked just fine and we had no problems.
The check-in process was easy. It did require us to visit a different location than the property but it was on the way and didn't really impact us. I called the property manager and she didn't answer but she called me back within seconds. She was very responsive.
The neighborhood was very quiet and we were able to see wildlife from the porch.
I'm so happy we found this place. It was a great stay.

The Perfect Getaway
This property exceeded our expectations. The views are beautiful and provide a relaxing environment to enjoy nature. The owners and property manager are very gracious, friendly and responsive to any questions we had. While there we enjoyed hiking in Lost Maples State Park and scenic drives to Utopia and the surrounding area. La Casita was cozy and well maintained with every amenity we needed. The entire stay was the perfect nature inspired getaway we were hoping for.

There are several bird feeders on the patio and it attracted a variety of colorful birds, some of which I had never seen before. Our host Mike was really warm and friendly.
Renting experience:
This is our first time using Vrbo and the renting experience left much to be desired. After we made the reservation on Vrbo, we were asked to sign a separate rental agreement with a company called "Frio Fun" the host employs to manage rentals. We were being constantly sent rules and were asked to download a different app to talk to them. We had to both collect the keys to the property and drop them off at the office of this agency. Have never had this amount of overhead in any of our previous rentals (all via a different platform)

Great property!
Had a great time at La Casita. We've been coming to the Frio river for about 30 years, and usually at one of the riverside cabins. This year we decided to go to higher ground. It's quiet (yay!) The views on the porch are fantastic. Our 2 year old daughter enjoyed the sunrises and watching the "honey birds" (her words for hummingbird) drink from the feeder. Lots of other birds show up to feed as well. Deer were out in front of the cabin on several mornings. A thunderstorm rolled thru and we watched the lightning light up the hills and the clouds roll thru...very cool . Everything was very clean and well laid out. Walk in shower with excellent water pressure was great after a day on the river. Appreciate the linens/towels/paper products already being there and ready to go. Coffee machine had a wide selection as well! Kitchen had everything we needed and much more. Highly recommend!

Everything about this place was splendid! The view, the furnishings, the owners, the agency, the location, the flora & fauna, etc etc. We've definitely found out home base for all future trips to the Frio river valley!
