About this house rental
Situated in Penguin, this attractive house for $143 per night is a great choice for your next break. Sunrise at Penguin is aptly named as it witnesses the morning splendour directly opposite the beach - situated 200 metres from the town centre and 30 metres from the beach. This 3 bedroom house ( 2 Queen beds & 2 Single beds ) is fully self contained and short and long stays are encouraged. Coffee shops and eateries are close by as well as bottleshop requirements. There are many walking tracks around town and several beaches - 1 hour from Cradle Mountain and geographically central on the NW Coast of Tasmania between Burnie and Devonport airports (30mins) - 25 minutes from Spirit of Tasmania terminal. Mountain bike tracks in the nearby Dial Range extend for 70 kms with magnificent views from Mt Montgomery ( a 40 min hike). Hinterland attractions are the caves at Gunns Plains, the Leven Canyon, wineries, rural farm land, Cradle Mountain and specialty organic farms such as Mt Gnoman Pig Farm. Beaches are patrolled by life savers during summer and many sporting activities occur all year round due to Penguin's central location. Our standard rate is $140 per night for the first two people and $30 for extra people per night. ($20 if on weekly rate) Children less than 6 are free. Weekly rate is $140 x 7 less 15% = $833. Monthly rate is $140 x 30 less 30% = $2,940

I cannot speak too highly of Sunrise at Penguin. Right from day 1 when I booked the property, Terry was so helpful and sent great information about the locality. He maintained good communication in the weeks ahead of our arrival, and was available if we needed him to attend to anything once we were in the house. Not that he needed to do much - when we arrived, the house was prepared with everything we needed, and far more than we expected. There is no scrimping on quality at Sunrise at Penguin: the furniture was very comfortable; the kitchen well-stocked; and the cooking equipment of excellent standard. The laundry, too, was well-equipped. The decor was just delightful, with quirky penguins fashioned creatively from various materials placed around the house, which added to the beautiful seaside atmosphere, along with the tasteful paintings. There were even fresh flowers in the lounge, and fruit left for us in the kitchen. The view was just incredible, and the beach is literally over the road. We did not want to leave: Sunrise at Penguin is definitely a place we will return to when we can get back to Tasmania.

We loved everything about our stay in Penguin. Terry is an excellent host, ensuring we felt very welcome. The house is very comfortable, has everything you need and more, and the views are just stunning. Short stroll to the shops, cafe, restaurant etc. We will be back!

We had a fantastic stay at Terrys house, we look forward to staying again. The house has a sea view and is really well appointed. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. Terry has put alot of thought into making your stay enjoyable. It is a short walk to restaurants. I highly recommend Terry’s house.

Loved it! Contactless check in was a breeze thanks to awesome communication with Terry. He came to welcome us and have a chat which was really nice. View from the lounge room was 2nd to none. Bed was comfy, very comfortable house to stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Lovely property with awesome views in a wonderful location. The short walk to town along the beach was a delight, as was looking for rocks on the beach over from the property. Very comfortable beds and a great shower👍

This is a lovely property so well located with breathtaking outlook over the sea.
Terry is a marvellous host and ensured we were very comfortable etc.
Highly recommended as a relaxing and well equipped home in a beautiful little town.
We had to cut our stay short as the dreaded virus was making our return to the mainland a bit dicey.
Hopefully we can come back some day to spend some more time there.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful
The only reason I didn’t want to leave a review was just in case it meant the property would be taken next time we go back! We only needed the place for one night but wished we had a week there and will definitely return. Everything about the place, the hosts the house the location and the town were just wonderful. A 10/10 stay.

Fantastic place, location close to town centre, view amazing.
The house was simply amazing and well worth the holiday. Both my wife and I loved either sitting in the main bedroom having breakfast in bed or sitting out the front enjoying the total ambience of the ocean. Well worth the stay.
Two items I would recommend for the owner that would be nice are;
(a) An espresso capsule coffee machine with a milk frothier. Instant coffee doesn't cut it.
(b) Better sized pillows, the ones there are either to flat for one or too big for two stacked.

Beautiful house
House was beautiful - well equipped with everything for could need. Stunning views out to the beach. Penguin is a lovely town.
The owner was perhaps a little overzealous in being hospitable. Booking via Stayz we do prefer the minimal contact we have with hosts via that platform, as opposed to other platforms. While we also appreciate that maintenance needs to be done at the property, as it was non-essential, this could perhaps be left to times when guests are not staying.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunrise. The house was immaculate and had everything you needed for a relaxing holiday. My husband loved seeing the trains an monitored the ships as they went by.

Gorgeous holiday home with a view to match!
We left Terry's beautiful home yesterday morning. I could not fault it - he has thought of everything. The clothes airer in particular was most welcome! The kitchen was well set up, including complimentary pantry items. The location is perfect for exploring the North West. As it was the low season, we did not expect to see any penguins so we were pleasantly surprised to see a few adult penguins scurrying up the beach directly opposite the house. We all enjoyed watching the sun rise and set each day - the table and chairs out the front of the property are well positioned to do just that. Hopefully we will be able to return on our next visit to Tasmania.

House was very well appointed and clean. Location was stunning for the views but a bit of a problem being so close to main road and freight rail line. Beds were very firm so not good for a bad back.

Completely wonderful
Our stay at Sunrise at Penguin could not have been lovelier. The house was spotlessly clean, elegantly furnished, and better equipped than any of the dozens of holiday houses we've rented in the past. We are enthusiastic cooks, even on holidays, and we found this kitchen to have everything we could hope for. The house was spacious, but cosy and the view was sensational. There was abundant hot water and the deep bath was a delight. The bed was luxurious and came, as the name implies, with a wonderful view of the sun rising over the sea. We'll be back, for a week next time!

One of the Best
We've stayed in many rental homes and I can honestly say that few are as good as Sunrise at Penguin. You walk in the door and it feels like home, not like just another rental. Comfortable, well equipped and well placed for wandering into Penguin, the nicest town on the North Coast

Beautiful house and location
Although brief, we thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at Sunrise at Penguin. The house is beautiful and presented impeccably. Great location right by the water...what more could you ask for than to be able to relax in the lounge or bedroom and watch the tides! Very close to town and Terry was a lovely host.
