About this cottage rental
Nestled in Fayette, this lovely cottage for $298 per night is a great option for your next trip. Nestled on a quiet road overlooking Seneca Lake you can find The Heron House. This home was built with comfort and relaxation in mind. So leave your worries at the door as you enter this stunning home. Beautifully decorated from top to bottom, this home is sure to meet all of your needs. Beyond the foyer is a quaint office space and first floor bathroom. The open dining/living area feature eight foot high sliding glass doors with picturesque views of the lake. An updated kitchen provides ample cooking and gathering space to entertain with family and friends. You can unwind on the couch next to the working electric fireplace or step out onto your deck and enjoy an evening night-cap as you overlook the cascading hills on the Finger Lakes. After the sun sets, head inside to the homes 4 bedrooms. The first bedroom is located just off the living area and offers a Queen bed and a television. Upstairs you will find 3 additional bedrooms and a full bath with tub/shower combo. The Master bedroom features a King size bed, a sitting area with 42" flat screen TV and queen sleeper sofa, and panoramic views of the lake. Outside the kids will love the "Pirate Ship", a two tiered, 15 foot long wooden replica, complete with gangplank and steering wheel. On your walk down to the water you pass under a large gazebo to a gradual, 110' length of beach complete with wooden patio area under an overhanging tree. Fish at the end of the boat dock or relax and watch the waves wash across the lake. The lake bottom is almost entirely free of rocks and is shallow enough for children to swim. Heron House is located in the heart of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, directly across Seneca Lake from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. It is less than a ten minute drive to downtown Geneva, Wegman's Grocery, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva on the Lake, and the Belhurst Castle. Heron House is also less than a twenty minute drive to the Del Lago Resort & Casino, Waterloo Premium Outlets and four public golf courses; a twenty-five minute drive to the Finger Lakes Drive-In Movie Theater; and a thirty-five minute drive to the Finger Lakes Racino. RR Tracks run alongside Edgewood Drive. Trains go approximately 10-15 mph, about 2 times per week. ** This property is closely monitored for responsible renting and must abide by the Town of Fayette Rental Guidelines. Heron House adheres to strict occupancy policies. Parties, events and unregistered guests are prohibited. Occupancy: This property is closely monitored for responsible renting. Stayed with family for the “it’s a wonderful life” festival. Nice location 15 mins from scenca falls. House slightly dirty, ants, mouse droppings. But to be expected that far in the country! Would recommend the festival!!

Overall property was okay. Beautiful view! House needs some TLC. It leans toward the lake, beds too soft, better cleaning (spiders), house smells musty.

Heron house offers gorgeous sunsets, beautiful mornings and lots of watery fun on a little beach. You’ll also enjoy walking on the country roads nearby and many other fresh air activities. The kitchen is big enough for many people to crowd into to make a communal meal. The yard is completely fenced so our dogs were able to stay confined and safe. We had a fabulous visit.

What a beautiful house right on the lake! Conveniently located in Geneva near restaurants and wineries, myself and a group of friends with dogs really enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend!

Heron House met all our expectations: right on the lake, access to the local wineries and breweries, and the restaurants in Geneva.
Our only complaints: Edgewood Drive is a private road. Once you leave the highway you need to dodge potholes until you get to the house. The kitchen is huge with loads of cabinets. The only drawback is that the kitchen counter is ceramic tile and in need of replacement.
This was our 1st family vacation since COVID-19 and our our 1st visit to the Finger Lakes region. We enjoyed every moment.

Looking west across the lake from the deck (and the master nedroom upstairs) is fantastic in the afternoon and evening! The yard is a little smaller than anticipated, but we were not looking for lawn space on our trip. Also, the local road in from the main road is long, and bumpy. And GPS will tell you you have arrived when the house is still nowhere to be seen. At that point, there is still a very short hairpin turn over train tracks that then doubles back in the opposite direction before you get to the house. A little tough to figure out in the dark, but in daylight should not be a problem. Wifi is very strong, and Roku on the TV in the living room allowed all the streaming video you might need. Access to the beach is a steep climb down. We didn't need it on our trip because we traveled with our older dog, so it wasnt a concern. We would love to stay here again!

The Lakehouse had everything we needed to enjoy the water and outdoors and was very clean and comfortable inside. Definitely a steep climb to get down to the beach but otherwise it was perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need for cooking and serving large group meals.

Heron House has a spectacular view! We loved the amenities, such as the pirate ship, paddle board, peddle boat, rafts, and the kayak. The stairs are quite steep, but it's still a family friendly home. We would definitely return!

We had a wonderful time at this centrally-located cottage with a fabulous lake view and access. We had 4 adults and a 7-year old and everybody was happy! Huge kitchen, spacious deck, outdoor gas grill, great hammock, what else do you need?

Beautiful lakeside stay!
Stayed here with my wife in the fall. Clean house with lots of room. Amazing, beautiful lake views. Enjoyed dining on the deck and visiting the nearby wineries and breweries as well as he fire pit on the beach. Very enjoyable stay and can't wait to come back again next year!

Perfect Lake Getaway
My wife and I had a had a great weekend stay. The house was clean and exactly as we expected it. The deck was great for dining and the sunset views were spectacular! The lake front was conducive to lounging or swimming and the dock was perfect for my level of fishing. The proximity to Geneva made it easy to run into town to grocery shop or explore. We will definitely be back.

Don't Waste Your Money
You are paying for the views!! Plain and simple!
The house itself needs a lot of cosmetic updates, from ripped screens, falling curtain rods, dirty, old windows, and a nasty smelling basement where the laundry room is located. The kitchen needs a complete cleanse, and ant service. The carpets are so dirty we could not walk around barefoot without having filthy feet.
Getting to the mediocre beach area is quite nerve wracking because of the extremely steep metal stairs that are not shown in pictures. The gate to the stairs never stayed latched, and the children's play area was 5 feet away from a deadly fall. Not a child friendly vacation home. If i wasn't worrying about my child falling down the stairs, I was worried about him falling through the wooden slats on the deck.
As far a the beach, it would have been decent if there weren't bottle caps, cigarette butts and a homemade bonfire remnants all over. Also, it would have been nice to have working steps on the end of the dock that were on the bottom of the lake during our stay, but nobody was sent to fix them after reporting the issue.
We ended our vacation 2 days early :(

Wonderful fall weekend
We loved our weekend at the Heron House. It is a lovely home and the view of the lake is fabulous. The location is convenient to Geneva where there are lots of good places to eat and shop. The owners gave us great suggestions of places to hike in the area.
We would recommend this roomy and comfortable home to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the Finger Lakes. We hope to come back for another visit.

Perfect house to enjoy Seneca Lake
My wife, two young kids, and I stayed at Heron House at the end of August. The house was perfect. The house has a totally private lakefront, perfect for swimming. The owners also provided us with a paddle boat, kayak, and a stand up paddle board so we did not have to rent anything. The deck was great with an unbelievable view. We ate every meal out there. The kids also loved the pirate ship playground. The location also provided easy access to the wineries. The house itself was great. Very comfortable, spacious and clean. The house exceeded our expectations and we will be back next year.
