Pu'u Po'a 409 is located on the North shore in Princeville next to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay (due 2023) on a bluff overlooking Hideaways Beach and the Pacific ocean. With spectacular views of Bali Hai/Makana Mountain, the Pacific Ocean and amazing night skies, this is truly a peaceful retreat where you can hear the sound of waves in this little slice of tropical heaven! Our newly decorated, top floor, ocean front penthouse home uniquely offers 15 ft. ceilings and privacy. This spacious condo has A/C and sleeps up to 6 people comfortably, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms: Bedroom 1 - one king-size bed + ensuite bathroom Bedroom 2 - one queen-size bed, and one queen-size sleeper sofa. Our home is decorated with custom-made furnishings from South East Asia, giving the space a feeling of light, bright, tropical serenity. Pu’u Po’a offers a newly renovated swimming pool and a tennis court, in addition to access to the 6 courts at the Makai Golf/Tennis Club. Watch the surfers, spinner dolphins and breaching whales (in season) off-shore. Walk to Hideaways Beach just below Pu'u Po'a or drive to any of the nearby beaches along the coast. Princeville Shopping Center is 2 miles away. Hanalei is 4.3 miles away. The condo has an upgraded entertainment center in the living room, including a device accessible surround-sound audio/video system that also includes smart TV's, Blu-Ray player, Netflix and other APP streaming capability. There are flat screen TV's in both bedrooms and a 65" flat screen in living room. With all the comforts of home, the unit is well equipped and includes a washer/dryer. We are one mile from the world-renowned 27-hole Makai Golf Club and the Makai tennis center has six courts with available professionals for teaching and playing, and players for pick-up games for singles and doubles. Private helicopter tours of the island depart from the Princeville airport - see the magnificence of the Napali Coast where four thousand-foot peaks rise out of the Pacific Ocean. If you prefer to hike, the Kalalau Trail is for you. Whether you are looking for day, or longer, hikes to waterfalls and streams or to secluded, deserted beaches like Hanakapiai- this has it all! My wife and I stayed 5 nights to celebrate our 21st anniversary. The condo unit was very spacious, a lot of natural light and a fanastic ocean front view. You can also see the mountain peak that is the begining of the Napali Coast next to the sun going down into the ocean.
There were three AC units in the unit that provided plenty of cooling. There were also ceiling fans in every room and a washer and dryer. We really liked Hidaways beach witch was directly down a bluff below us. A trail led down to the beach from the edge of the property.

Beautifully updated Pu’u Poa unit with spectacular ocean views (including Bali Hai to the left) and three high performance AC units. Pickleball/tennis court on property and two minute walk next door to ultra luxurious 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. Charles is an extremely responsive owner and Ian is equally accessible and helpful as the property manager. Absolutely the place to stay when visiting Princeville area!!

This was the perfect place for us! The condo was clean, the view of the coast was stunning, and the location was perfect. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Hide-away beach is a short walk away. We had the best vacation!

The views of Bali Hai and the ocean were magnificent. We saw whales and dolphins from the terrace. We chose to eat out but the kitchen is well stocked for cooking meals. The beds were comfortable. One thing to note is you do have to climb stairs to get to the unit but it wasn’t a problem for our group. Overall it was a very nice condo and we hated to leave.

We had a great time at Charles's property. The day before arrival I got a call from the property manager and he answered any questions we had immediately throughout the entire stay. Great place to stay with a group because we got to use the kitchen, outdoor balcony with an incredible view, and main living space thoroughly, and felt so comfortable and at home. Great location and super close to Hanalei and Anini beach, where we visited multiple times. Highly recommend for groups and families.

Pu'u Poa Paradise
We have stayed at this condo location many times over the past twenty years and this particular unit is certainly one of our favorites! It is beautifully and comfortably decorated, light and bright, and (perhaps most importantly in July), the AC units are top notch! We HIGHLY recommend this unit for your next stay on the North Short of Kauai!!

Breathtaking!
My husband, our two daughters and I spent 2 weeks in this amazing condo. There is no better way than to wake up to the crashing waves and surfers every morning. We have stayed at other units on this property, but this was the first that had the enclosed sunroom, instead of the second lanai. It ended up being my favorite space to read and watch the whales and rolling waves. We cooked most meals and the condo was fully equipped with everything we needed. Having indoor and outdoor seating for meals allowed us to stay dry and watch the surfers in the morning then watch the sunsets outside at dinner. In the closets, there was a lovely small library of books and games, extra linens… The condo had everything to make you feel at home and be very comfortable. It was clean and although it has AC, we loved that there were ceiling fans in every room. The property itself is well maintained. The pool and tennis court is a short walk away and there was always plenty of parking. If you are not familiar with the area, this is a very safe and beautiful community with golf courses, and many sidewalks. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and a short drive takes you to shops and a grocery store. Everything about our stay was perfect! We look forward to coming back.

The condo size was great for my family of four. We had to use the pullout sofa bed and my daughter said it was comfortable (could use more pillows in the condo). Kitchen was adequate for cooking meals in which we did a lot since restaurants are sparse or operating hours are short. The pool was nice and hardly used by other guests. We do wish there was a hot tub though. That would be nice in the mornings and evenings. The views is what sells this place! Loved seeing the ocean out all the windows and watching surfers from the lanai. Charles was very good at communicating with us and making sure everything was going well. Great place would come back and stay again :)

Fabulous property and view. Wonderful sunsets every night. The condo was in very good condition and very clean. The was equipped and had everything we needed to cook most of our meals. The air conditioning was lifesaver because it was very hot during my stay.

We loved staying in this apartment and plan on returning in the future. The home is very generously sized, has breathtaking views from nearly all the rooms, an oversized kitchen for family meals and multiple brand new air conditioning units throughout. Other reviewers mentioned these were missing previously so it was a very nice surprise. Outside of this unit, the complex itself is in a great location which allowed us to walk to both hideaway beach and pu’u poa beach. Overall, beautiful home and a wonderful base camp for exploring the north shore. If the space is open - book it!

Perfect location and gorgeous view
We had a great family vacation and besides the fact that the weather was hot and there was no air conditioning (well communicated in the details), we loved the size and furnishings of this condo. We cooked almost every night and ate on the back deck with beautiful views. They do probably need to invest in a new refrigerator. It really struggled to keep up and stay cool. Other than this, we had no complaints.

The property was awesome and we could not ask for a better location overlooking the ocean watching the sunset this summer! The weather was gorgeous, enjoyed the short walk to Hideaway Beach, great snorkeling location when the water is calm. Close to kayaking and multiple beaches. Such a relaxing time grilling out on the deck and watching the sunset as a family! The property management company sent notes all week long letting us know of local events. Enjoyed talking with Charles, the owner who called to check on us. Top notch! We have been visiting Kauai for 20 years and we would stay here again for sure! I read all the reviews before booking and the person that gave this place a bad review is obviously vindictive and does not represent this place at all. Thanks again Charles for renting this place to us, our family enjoyed it tremendously. Mahalo

Perfect place in paradise!
I've stayed here before and it's even better than I remembered. I should have booked a longer stay. The view of the ocean from the lanai is absolutely incredible, the pix don't do it justice. And the place was brilliant, super-clean and comfortable, filled with a glorious light in the mornings. I can barely wait to return.

Puu Poa Luxurios Oceanfront Penthouse...run the other way.
This place is in atrocious condition. Pictures online look pretty good...just not the condition it is in.
The property manager, Kauai Pacific Real Estate, is doing a terrible job. The maintenance and cleanliness of the condo was deplorable. Drapes are falling off the curtain rods and there are no pull cords (looks like a cheap motel). The living room and dining room lights were all burned out or non- functional. (This meant that we could only use 1/2 of the condo after dark.) There were no instructions about how to operate any of the lighting or the TV. The tile floors were so dirty that your feet turned black after walking around for about 5 minutes. (Yes, we leave our shoes at the door.) The rug on the living room floor was worn out, threadbare and filthy, unacceptable in a luxurious rental. We arrived late Friday and called KPRE first thing Monday morning. They said their maintenance contractor would call us. We were expected to make an appointment and work with the contractor to get things straightened out on our own time. We were paying dearly to help them fix things that were broken. Worse, the contractor's guy showed up with no tools or ladders or anything, looked at all the things that were broken and just left. He brought back a single floor lamp later that day...which promptly burned out. Nothing ever got repaired.
Kauai Pacific had the temerity to send me an email saying they just took over the property and they had not heard anything from any renters. Obviously, according to KPRE, all these things magically happened after the last rental and before our rental. The views may be luxurious, but the upkeep and overall condition of the condo were very very poor. Puu Poa is our favorite property in all of Hawaii, but not this unit. I am sure the owner would be very displeased at how their unit is being managed if they only knew.
