About this house rental
Situated in Vermilion, this lovely house for $238 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Very lovely, lakefront house with an all knotty pine interior, fireplace, very large master bedroom, well stocked kitchen, large living room/dining room, and in addition to the first floor master, we have 2 new large bedrooms up and 2 new baths. Charming, cozy and immaculate in a great lakeside neighborhood with neighborhood park and YMCA. Cozy in the winter and FABULOUS in the summer. Our home is charming, cozy and immaculate. With a large, private backyard that abuts Lake Erie our house is perfect for “sitting” by the water and watching the truly great sunsets and sunrises over Lake Erie. There is a large park for the kids a short walk/bike ride down the street. Take a snooze and catch the afternoon trade winds, or open the windows at night and catch the wind and noise of the waves. Conveniently located, it is 20 minutes from Cedar Point and the many Sandusky water parks (Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay), 30 minutes to the ferry for the Lake Erie Islands and northern Ohio many wineries, 20 minutes to historic Milan/Norwalk Ohio (home of Thomas Edison), and 40 minutes to Cleveland’s Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Science Museum, Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers, and the world famous Cleveland Orchestra, and Art and History museums. There is fine shopping, restaurants, boat and kayak rentals and the quaint City of Vermilion - nationally recognized as one of the top beachfront vacation places in the United States by USA Today (complete with ice cream shoppe, naval museum, wonderful beaches and a 5 star French restaurant on the water) to visit. So spend a day at Cedar Point, and come home to the quiet of the Lake for dinner and an evening of relaxing at the water. My sister and I already plan to return next year. The house was very comfortable for our needs and canine companion. The location only 6 minutes from downtown Vermillion and the view of the lake perfect. I listened to the waves at night while in bed.

We have stayed at this cottage several times over the last few years, and we keep coming back for more than one reason. The location is excellent - close to the quaint town of Vermillion, Cedar Point, and Catawba. And the cottage itself is comfortable and spacious, with a large backyard overlooking the lake. So peaceful!!

Wonderful house! It had every amenity. Host was great to talk with. I could set in the back and look at the lake all day. My favorite part was the bed. It was so comfortable! I know that seems trivial in such a beautiful home but I love a good mattress.

The view from the property was stunning and there was plenty of space for the four of us. It was nice having the small grocery across the street.
Check in/check out were easy and Kate responded quickly to the few questions I had. Loved Vermillion and the other local towns and attractions. We went to Sandusky, Huron and Loraine along with CVNP. So many beautiful places to visit and amazing restaurants.

View of lake and sunsets is very nice. No direct access to water. Need to drive for beach, fishing or any water activities. House remodeling was very nice. Bed downstairs was comfortable but upstairs mattresses were hard. Kitchen well equipped and everything was very clean. WiFi worked in all rooms except in downstairs bedroom. Overall good experience. Will probably look for a place closer to water activities.

Older cottage which has been nicely rehabbed; plenty of comfortable space for 4 adults and a child plus having a full bathroom on each living level was very convenient. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and there were plenty of towels and bedding and toiletries! We found an assortment of board games plus a pool table. The homeowner added some fresh English muffins, butter, jam and half & half to the refrigerator for our first breakfast. Very thoughtful! Although home overlooks Lake Erie, it has no access to the lake as there is a ledge at the end of the property with the lake at the bottom of the ledge; the yard was fenced at the ledge as a precaution, so no beach, no paddling. Nice patio at the back of the home with table, chairs & grill. Gorgeous sunset. Cute little bodega across the street which was very well stocked. The only down side was that evidently our visit coincided with annoying little may flies (or whatever they are called) and their presence reduced our enjoyment of the yard until my husband purchased some bug fogger which helped a bit. Neighbors were friendly and the town of Vermilion was scenic with several good restaurant options (plus a good sized grocery store a mile or two away). Don't miss an opportunity to visit Schoepfle Garden Park in Birmingham--just beautiful and things for the kids to do too! Wonderful family reunion!

Great trip except for the very cold and windy weather on Friday and Saturday....not much could have been done to fix that. The upstairs bedrooms were cold though but cold weather not normal for this time of year.

Our weekend was a get together of two couples, old friends who had not seen much of each other recently and who were all finally fully vaccinated. The house was just as described. Very well equipped, and immaculate. Kate, our host, was very gracious, helpful, and responsive to any questions. The yard facing Lake Erie is a perfect place to sit and watch a sunset, observe some interesting wildlife like the eagles from a nearby nest, or cookout on the grill. I only gave the neighborhood 4 stars because not all the properties nearby are nearly as nice, but the less attractive ones were also primarily on the road side of the house, away from the lake. Any people we encountered were very friendly. The road was used by folks on bikes, joggers, power walkers, and some just out for a stroll. There is a little store across the street that came in handy, and there’s a larger grocery store a couple miles away for bigger needs. Internet bandwidth at the house is adequate, but on the low side, so I would not plan to do any ‘heavy lifting’ on your devices while there. Since the natural beauty of the place was a good reason to put those devices away, it wasn’t really an issue for us. There’s also a “Clubhouse” a few doors down that would probably make an excellent venue for a larger group event... when we can have those again. All in all, a perfect place for a long awaited ‘vaccication’ weekend.

Beautiful lake views to watch the sun slip into Lake Erie each night. Very relaxing setting. Close to charming Vermilion with great restaurants and unique gift shopping. Hosts are very accommodating. Cottage is well-stocked with amenities. Some minor property construction going on now, but did not disrupt our activities nor entertainment of our guests. Loved it!!

We decided on this cottage because of close proximity to the airport and price, and amenities of a washer and dryer. Well, the washer knob was broke by a previous renter and then the owners had scheduled for a repair man to come fix it. That was during the 1st week we were there (we stayed 3 1/2 weeks). The repair wasn't completed during our stay. The views were wonderful and very photogenic. We weren't able to go down to the water's edge and henceforth there is no opportunity for fishing or swimming from property. It was nice to have a fireplace in the house. Kate was kind and brought a few treats during our stay. The store across street was convenient. Overall, it was a quiet experience. We did get to see an eagle in flight, but it wasn't a bald eagle. Friendly neighborhood. It was nice to go out back with a cup of coffee and relax and hear the waves crashing into the break wall. The temperatures were great, even with the cold rain for a few days. Too bad there wasn't any snow for us to enjoy.

What a wonderful place to stay. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and then some.
They supplied way more than any other place we've rented in the past by far.
The views are fabulous and it is so peaceful and not actually a tourist section of town but more like a residential community. It is off the main highway on a small street, so it is very peaceful and basically no traffic. We rode our bikes in to Vermilion and it was a very easy ride as all the roads are flat and no hills. The store across the street is very convenient also.
We did get a small storm the last night and that was a good thing, it is amazing to watch out over the lake.
We saw a bald eagle at least a couple times daily, he comes out of a big oak tree, out at the waters edge, about 2 houses to the right facing the lake. Very easy to see from the back yard. The bed was very comfortable and I just can't overstate how nice this place was . Great job Kate ,Thank You, we hope to be back in the near future. Maybe a fall trip ?

My husband, daughter and I rented this cottage for a weekend to explore Lake Erie before the busy season! Wow what wonderful place! So much more than expected! Well stocked kitchen with everything you could think of needing. It was cold and stormy one night so we enjoyed the huge selection of games and puzzles. Beautiful view of the lake - lots of outside chairs and a fire pit - due to the weather we did not get much use of either but enjoyed sitting on the cozy porch watching the storm roll in on the lake. Very comfortable master bedroom. All beds had wonderful bedding and nice big fluffy towels in the bath - always a bonus in my world! :). For breakfast we loved The Nest - right at the light as you turn into neighborhood. the paper moon winery was a blast- even on a rainy night - live music, food and wine. Kate was super easy to work with! Enjoy!

We rented this cottage for a girls weekend getaway and it was so much more than we anticipated. The cottage was spacious, very clean, well stocked with all the necessities, we did not have to bring anything extra. The owner Kate has the cabin stocked with Board games, Wi-Fi, cable, everything for a relaxing getaway. The view was exceptional, and the sound of the water made the stay so relaxing. There is a store across the street if you do need milk or drinks which is so convenient. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quick out of the city getaway!!! My wife, child and myself stayed a week at this nicely furnished house with a outstanding view! It is located minutes from downtown Vermillion and the marinas. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation spot. For myself it was an outstanding location since I took four walleye trips with one of the Captains out of Vermillion and scored big on each charter. The owner which I can not say who was very generous with everything. Thanks again for letting us stay at this beautiful house!
