Wonderful view from the deck! Apartment is dated and some things that would normally be found in a vacation rental were missing -- coffee, tea, saran wrap. If we hadnt needed to call to find the parking spot, we would have had no contactvwith the host.

My daughter and I loved staying at the Getaway! It was so cute and cozy and was perfect for the two of us! It was easy to find and Meg was amazing. If we needed anything she was on it! The communication before we got there was awesome! Everything was just as expected!

Overall satisfaction however not pleased about any situation and cobwebs.

The unit was clean but run-down. One of the chairs on the deck was completely unusable with screws poking up through the seat. Place smelled moldy and room deodorizer was used to cover it up. The View was nice! And the host was friendly and offered to let us stay a bit longer on our checkout date. All in all it was just okay.

This is the 2nd year we have stayed here and we find it Charming! Great view, friendly hosts, even has 2 dogs and a cat that visit. We Love that! We are planning our dates for new year.

The clothes dryer wasn't working so we couldn't do the laundry we anticipated doing at the mid-point of our trip. It was just a kind of an old, funky place.

While it didn't bother me, perhaps worth noting that there were a handful of insects that I needed to usher outside each day, mostly ants and spiders. Seems reasonable for a basement apartment in a rural location.

Lovely weekend getaway!
We loved the peacefulness of the property! My son loved spending time at the play set with the dogs, Sunny and Shep! We will definitely consider a future stay and recommend it to our friends. Thank you Bob and Meg!

A friend and i stayed here for a wedding in deer harbor, which was very convenient, and the hosts made all sorts of printouts for us to orient ourselves and get around. Unfortunately, though, the place had huge (!) cobwebs EVERYWHERE and rodent droppings in several spots. We brought this to their attention and Meg was very nice, came down and talked to us about their cleaning practices so we felt more comfortable that they had disinfected (because covid) and attempted to clean up the rest while we were out. She cleaned away some but still missed a lot of the bigger cobwebs and we found more rodent droppings after. It wasn't a bad place to stay at all, it was just a lot of money to stay in a spider den.

We were Pleasantly surprised and happy with our stay here. We thought it was better in person than the pictures showed. Especially the deck which we thought would be very small and it was not! Beautiful view, charming cottage, Loved having 2 dogs and a cat who visited and enjoyed very much getting to visit with Meg and Bob a bit here and there. We have already booked for five nights next year!

The property was very nice, with a stupendous view of the harbor. We also loved having the two dogs, who were very well behaved, visit us. The only negative was that there was a coffee maker, but no coffee. Not a problem for me, but my wife was very grumpy until we could get her to her coffee fix, about 20 minutes away. Other than that we loved the place!

We had a lovely stay at G.G's Getaway. The space was perfect for our 3 y/o son and 7 month old daughter. The view was great, the array of songbirds and chickadees on the deck was impressive and surprising considering we visited during the rare island snow storm. The rental stayed cozy warm and were supplied with ample blankets, sheets, pillows and towels- many more than what we needed. We were happy to put puzzles together between excursions out to play in the snow. The property was so fun to explore. Lots of nooks and crannies to wander through. The estuary was my favorite, but our son LOVED the play set, and we were so pleased with the view from there. Plus the resident pups were such a joyful bonus and are obviously used to children- they were so gentle and fun. The kitchen provided us with most of what we needed, my only recommendation is that if you are big cooks to bring a few of your staples. I wish I would have brought knives and foil. The knives provided are a bit dated and fairly dangerous. We were so tickled with our stay. Meg and Bob are very kind and willing to help out in any way. We felt very welcomed and look forward to coming back when the snow melts.

Quiet, cozy home away from home
My sister and I just completed a lovely stay at Grandma and Grandpa’s Getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Meg and Bob are great hosts. There were fresh cut flowers and soft classical music playing to greet us when we checked in. We could easily reach them if need be but appreciated them letting us feel it was our own space to relax.
And relax we did! Mornings and evenings were spent on our private portion of a deck overlooking the bay.
This was the first trip to Orcas for both of us. We felt we barely scratched the surface of places to explore. We can’t wait to go back and look forward to staying at GGG again when we do.

The view did not disappoint, most everything else did.
Our hostess greeted us warmly and the view from the deck of this property was as beautiful as advertised. However, the property was dilapidated and not particularly clean. The washer/dryer was broken. Cabinet and drawer knobs fell off in one’s hand. Most of the windows were cracked and all were dirty. The deck and deck furniture was dirty. There were cobwebs indoors and out. And a slightly moldy odor permeated the suite.

Wonderful View
This was a beautiful apartment with views of the harbor from large windows and from the private deck. We prepared several meals in the fully equipped kitchen, and slept well in the quiet natural surroundings. The friendly property manager brought us freshly cut flowers and a map of the property. Staying here greatly enhanced our travel experience.

Grandma and Grandpa’s Getaway
This was a comfy, cozy small apartment. The view of the harbor was excellent. Perhaps the only drawback is that it’s fairly isolated. We had long drives to see the sights. However, that gave us a chance to see much of the island.

Rustic Hideaway
This wasn’t what we were expecting and were a bit disappointed. There was no access for ice, there were spiders throughout the home and the bed was very uncomfortable. The letter talked of a gardener on property but all there was was weeds! The host was very nice but it was all misleading. We only stayed two of the 4 nights. I couldn’t sleep another night there. We won’t be going back or recommending this property.

Unique & special place
Two amazing things about this place: the host (only met Meg) is incredibly friendly, helpful and sweet. She not only picked us up as we were lost (didn’t read instructions as that said don’t take Potlatch rd as well as we should have), and have us to the place, they allowed us to borrow their truck into town. That’s for me unheard of. I don’t won’t to give the impression that the trick is part of the deal, because it wasn’t (obviously) but when we had a little hick up in our arrangements, they made this favor for us, which is beyond friendly. I will always remember that. The town, it’s people and especially our hosts were as if from a different ultra-kind universe, and so close to a major metropolitan area! Who knew?? This was also on the day of our wedding. It was our first mini-honeymoon. The setting on the beautifully rustic hillside is absolutely amazing. Did we arrive in rural Scotland sea shore village? It sure felt that way. The views are breathtaking, the smells, the flowers, everything. The cute digs are perfectly situated and sized for a romantic couple that wants to enjoy nature & quite comforts. It has a fully functioning kitchen. A coffee machine with a bean grinder and filters. Bring your own beans and you will enjoy the freshly brewed coffee. The marina convenience store has Lopez a island roasted coffee beans, which was one of the best I have tasted and smelled. Do realize that even though the digs are very comfortable and spacious, they are dated back a few decades. The style is casual comfort but not polished & spotless luxury. That actually was fine and enjoyable. It fit the surroundings well and gave us a natural feel. The cat host Sparky is a little friendly tiger, which was a bonus. The place also has a lived in feel with photos & albums from the tight knit family who made this place home for the past 4+ decades. Many babies were born who went on having their own kids. This family legacy made this place quite special and authentic (not staged) also. 5+ stars for everything, 4.5 stars for some dust on some lamps and few other little corners, if we had to be picky. Would be nice if the cracked glass on the view window were replaced also. Not a biggy, but at this price level, some mint repairs like that could/should be managed. Overall highly recommended!!!!

An area to sit and look out onver the water and relax from a day of honking and boating. This are was secluded away from the hustle of of the island which also played into the peacefulness of the area. We are glad we stayed here and upon return will leave this property (Grandma and Grandpa) at the top of this of places to stay.
