The design around the hill and incorporation of nature was just jaw dropping. Worth the travel to Amed. The staff were so kind and it felt quite traditional and Balinese. We travelled around in buggy's due to the steep hill which was fun. The room and the hand written greeting for our anniversary was such a kind touch. The wooden hut and out door living room felt like such a calming experience. The breakfast was out of this world and we had amazing choices. The food was amazing at the restaurant. The pool was amazing with the view of the beautiful foliage and the sea in the distance. You can spot a lot of Balinese wildlife and they give you a pictured guide sign to let you know what you can spot. We were able to book all our excursions through the hotel. We went to see mount Agung and snorkel with sea turtles- we saw one but that was still special. The spa was one of the best massage experiences of my life! Highly recommend making your way from the south to visit the amazing hillside hotel that gives you access to the sea as well.

The bathroom was a little more exposed to the elements than expected. You get used to it Other than that, no complaints other than I wish we stayed longer.

Nothing - it is on a steep slope and a distance from the beach - but you need that to have the tranquility and the view. There is a shuttle on the hour which wool take you down to the beach and snorkelling spots if that is what you wish to do. I did on both days of my stay.

This exceeded our expectations. It was stunning. Staff were incredibly nice. The food -Wow, great. Everything was super clean and tidy. The rooms were such a delight.

The tracks to the room were a bit difficult to negotiate for an older person. Other than that, nothing.

A hotel with stunning views and beautiful, spacious lodges. The location really depends on what you’re looking for — tucked away in the mountains, it’s perfect for a romantic getaway, but not ideal if you’re planning to party. I really loved the overall style of the hotel.

The hotel itself is set in a stunning location high up in the mountains, with beautiful views and spacious lodges. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. When we arrived, the tap in our room was broken, but two staff members came within an hour and fixed it, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the main issue was the restaurant. I ordered a Niçoise salad with tuna and first found pieces of eggshell in it. My husband mentioned the tuna tasted a bit off, but I continued eating it. Within minutes, my tongue started to swell, my lips turned purple, I developed a rash all over my body, and my face became red and swollen. It turned out to be scombroid fish poisoning — a reaction caused by fish that hasn’t been stored at the proper temperature. When certain fish like tuna are not kept cold enough, bacteria produce high levels of histamine, which can cause symptoms similar to a severe allergic reaction. The restaurant removed the salad from our bill. The staff were genuinely worried and kind, and I understand it wasn’t intentional — but it was still a very serious situation. Since the hotel is so remote and there are no other places to eat nearby, we had no choice but to continue dining there. In general, the dishes looked beautiful but tasted quite bland — and by spices I simply mean basic seasoning like salt. On a different day, I ordered a piña colada, which was honestly the worst I’ve ever had — unbalanced and watery. It was also removed from the bill. Overall, the staff were very nice and the setting is beautiful, but the restaurant experience — especially the fish poisoning — unfortunately overshadowed everything else.
