Beautifully handcrafted home, one and a half stories with large bedroom upstairs, open floor plan down stairs, 3 patios, one with an immaculate private hot tub. Located in the mountains southeast of Santa Fe, so quiet that all you hear are crickets, birds and an occasional coyote in the night. Five minute walk into the Santa Fe National Forest. Fully furnished and equipped home. 4WD is required during the winter months.

This very quaint and delightful house is perfect for the getaway that keeps giving. Beautiful house and surroundings, fabulous hot-tub, who can ask for more? Easy into Santa Fe, its seclusion is wonderful. We'll be back!

We were lucky enough to stay in Dorothy’s charming retreat outside Santa Fe. Filled with lovely folk art, it has a wonderfully peaceful feeling. We enjoyed the hot tub under the stars. Close enough to Santa Fe to go for dinner or the sites but far enough away to be another world. Would recommend highly for a romantic relaxing stay.

The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The location was perfect for for getting to explore the local mountains. We hiked at holy ghost creek and the sante fe national forest near the ski slope. It was great to take a long soak in the hot tub after the long hike.

We LOVED staying here! The entire house is its own vibe! Seriously, we would live here if we could. Our favorite thing was the hot tub, which we were lucky enough to get to enjoy during the day since the weather turned chilly on us. Overall, the house is in a lovely location, and very relaxing! We would stay here again!

My husband and I have stayed at many places all over
The country and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. So quiet and tranquil, and the most stocked kitchen of any place I have ever seen for a rental, including coffee (French press) in the morning. Wonderful hot tub. You can tell that every corner was decorated with love. We will definitely stay here again.

A wonderful getaway: the two-floor house with amazing garden is quite spacious for two guests. We felt surrounded by beauty indoors and out. We loved listening to the burbling fountain and watching the hummingbirds. Husband said, "This is a really special place. We should make sure to drink it in."
We enjoyed a mix of visiting town (a 20-minute drive), hiking recommended trails, and relaxing, which was just right for us.
Host Dodie had reasons to stop by the house a couple of times but graciously checked with us first.

It was very nice to sit out on the patio and look up and see the Milky Way in the late evenings. The hot tub was a very special treat.

We stayed at Dodie's place for a week in the middle of July when it was in the 90s in Santa Fe. It was much cooler in the mountains and so beautiful. Quick drive to Santa Fe and surrounding areas, but we spent as much time enjoying the time away from everything watching the fauna come to the fountain and smell the fresh air. Dodie was great! We'd love to come back in the fall next time to catch the seasonal change. Very relaxing!

We can not praise this exceptional home enough! Not only did we fall in love with this beautiful home, but Santa Fe as well! Dorothy was welcoming and very accommodating. The house was spotless, artistically decorated, and inviting. The back patio is truly a special little haven with gorgeous vegetation, a lovely water feature, and a variety of visiting birds. As amateur bird enthusiasts, it was a slice of heaven. Not to mention the wonderful hot tub to relax and soak in all that nature has to offer. We could not have asked for a better, more enjoyable get away, and will definitely be returning in the future!!

1. The property is amazing. It has all that is needed. The decor and setting are so thoughtfully detailed. I kept finding new details. It is obvious that the home is a treasure. 2. The location was perfect for me. I wanted to be outside the city, but close enough to be able to dine and visit. Fit the bill. 3. I cannot say enough about the owner. Dorothy worked with us and accommodated us when an emergency prevented us from getting there on time. Great communication. Great hospitality. We will return.

My wife and I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and loved the property. This was the quietest and most peaceful property we have rented. We live in a large city (8 million+), and to sit out on the front or back patio and hear nothing but birds (several hummingbirds), crickets, and the wind was a major blessing. The property was clean and stocked with most of what you would need. The owner even supplied filtered water in two large containers that sit in a ceramic carafe which is great for us since we drink a lot of water, plus a local champagne wine. The furniture was comfortable and the hot tub was great any time of the day, although it's hard to argue with night since you get to see so many stars. We were glad we chose this property and would like to visit again someday.

My husband and I wanted a respite from the dailies and also to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We could not have picked a better location and house. Everything about the experience was refreshing and relaxing.
We LOVED the quiet and serenity of the house and the surroundings. We were able to rest and just enjoy being.
The birds and other critters were very entertaining and we enjoyed their shows. Dorothy is a perfect host :-) being very responsive to our questions. We had no concerns or issues!
We enjoyed our trips into Santa Fe; the good food and interesting galleries and people we encountered.
If you are looking for a quiet, serene environment for some much needed R&R, I cannot recommend this house and location strongly enough! We LOVED it!

Really beautiful property in a sparsely populated area. Every morning we got up and ate breakfast on the back patio and watched birds. Super dark night skies, excellent for star viewing. Feels very secluded, surrounded by greenery. Dorothy was very responsive and was just overall a lovely host. We will definitely be staying here again.

Our visit this time was to get away, relax and recover from our busy lives. This is our 2nd stay and it was even better than our first. The stream flowing through the property was delightful and added to our hot tub relaxation. We will definitely come back again.

We knew what we were getting…….. out of town feel, secluded little comfy home. Far enough away for that mountain feel, but close to town with plenty to do. Needs a microwave for leftovers.

An absolutely beautiful property in the mountains outside of Santa Fe. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere where you can get away from it all. The property was immaculate, and Dorothy was an absolute pleasure to work with.

The house is comfortable, a work of art, and immaculate. The location serene, a real experience of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, yet only 20 minutes from the Plaza. The host helpful and attentive. You should know it's at the end of a dirt road - and that's a good thing! You'll feel the same way when you step outside at night and see the Milky Way. About 10 minutes from Museum Hill, St. John's College, and the trailhead for Sun Mountain. This will be our first choice whenever we return to Santa Fe.

We had a wonderful time and this property was the perfect getaway. It felt secluded and serene, but also was a short, pleasant drive to any restaurant or other destination. The house is exactly as advertised. Very clean and well equipped. The hot tub was fabulous. We enjoyed watching the hummingbird in the morning and the stars at night from the patio.

We went to Tranquilo for our 33rd anniversary, and Dodie outdid herself to make it extra special for us. Her home is a quiet, comfortable place to get away and relax, but conveniently close to Santa Fe. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and spending time outside on the beautifully landscaped patio. Even at the end of July, the weather was so cool and comfortable that we did not miss the air conditioning, but preferred the fresh air. We also enjoyed all the lovely and eclectic art, inside and outside the house. I highly recommend Tranquilo and hope to visit again someday.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend trip and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful; well-appointed, comfortable, and stylish. It seems Dorothy has thought of everything to make for a memorable stay.
It's in a very quiet and peaceful area. We particularly enjoyed the natural light inside the house and the serenity of the outdoor areas, which were a treat for us as amateur bird watchers.
Dorothy was friendly and very communicative. Check-in and -out were very easy. We'd gladly stay here again.
