We loved our stay on Swan Island. It was better than we expected. The house is great and the location is amazing. The 4 bedrooms are large and comfortable. There’s only one bathroom upstairs and one down, but it wasn’t an issue. The only item I’d note is that the stairs are very steep so not good for someone with issues, but I think there’s a sofa bed on the first floor. Also, no air conditioning but there are lots of fans in case it’s hot. Our host was very responsive and extremely helpful and the house was very well equipped. We bought lobsters at the co-op several times…just walked down the hill, a 2 min walk. We brought most of our food for the week, but went to the little store for a few items…it’s very well stocked. We went out with the lobsterman our host recommended and that was fun and interesting. We hiked and our favorite hike was a new one across from the little store. If you’re looking for a real Maine experience without the crowds, this is a terrific choice.

This home is delightful, clean and spacious, and the location is fantastic. The cook’s kitchen and wrap-around deck are exactly as pictured and a real treat. There are even pots and tools to cook and eat fresh lobster — which you can buy right off the boats at the co-op at the bottom of the hill. The layout of the home is great and easily accommodated our party of 5 adults — 2 of whom comfortably worked remotely during our stay. John is a wonderful host and is easy to reach. He also provides a lot of well-organized and helpful information in advance of the stay. One minor detail to note — the lobster co-op mentioned above is a working business and a vital part of the island. There is almost continuous generator noise that we found easy to block out, but this may not be for you if you are looking for a completely quiet venue. We really loved our visit and plan to stay at this lovely home again next summer.

This property, like Swans Island, is an amazing escape. Beautifully appointed and others have noted, far and away the most well stocked kitchen. A cook and bakers delight! The views are stunning . This is a busier corner of the island with lobster boats coming and going from the Co-op at the bottom of the hill. But busy is a relative term! We enjoyed watching the boats come and go. Everyone is so inviting on the island - and Bob is so accommodating and quick to reply. TIMS is shockingly stocked for its 600sq ft. That said we were glad we stocked up on pantry items before we came. The pizza was a treat from TIMs (wed and Friday - book at least 2 days in advance!). We also loved the hike along the trailhead that is across from TIMS, the boat cruise with Jason Joyce, and the lighthouse tour isn’t to be missed! One note for others - if you’d like to go to Acadia for the day plan to book a round trip with your car in advance. We didn’t (hoping to use the Island Shuttle) and found the shuttle schedule did not align in ways to make it feasible. All round trip reservations were booked and given the lines for the ferry we didn’t want to risk not getting back in the evening! In the end, we didn’t feel like we missed out - the island is it’s own special treat to be savored!

Wonderful porch to enjoy a view of the harbor, comfortable house, and very convenient to purchase fresh lobster. The host was easy to contact and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much!
