About this house rental
Located in Lake Pepin, this attractive house for $450 per night is a great option for your next vacation. 5-bedroom 4-bath spacious home directly across Park Street from Lake Pepin, the beach, the park and the marina. Lots of room to spread out with your extended family; comfortably sleeps 16; relaxing open indoor and outdoor spaces; incredible views of the lake; right in the middle of all that the Lake City area has to offer - boating, fishing, skiing, golfing, hiking, biking, bird-watching, picnicking, or just lying on the beach. At the end of the day, gather in the large living room with gas fireplace and Smart-TV, or around the table in the game area. Bring your own games, or enjoy the classics in our game cupboard. In the summer, gather out front to enjoy the quiet patio, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets across the lake. The dining table easily seats 16. The kitchen is stocked with the basics, including dishes and silverware to serve 20. There is a small wet bar for refreshments. And a gas grill on the back patio for outdoor cooking. You will sleep in the wonderful comfort of Casper mattresses, with Minnesota's own My Pillow pillows and mattress toppers. UPSTAIRS: Master bedroom has a queen bed, a twin daybed and twin trundle, plus en suite bath and a fantastic porch with beautiful view of the lake, plus its own private laundry area. Second bedroom has one queen bed; third bedroom has two queen beds. Both have a beautiful view of the lake and share the hall bath. ON THE MAIN LEVEL: Fourth bedroom has two twin beds, and shares the main floor hall bath. Fifth bedroom has a queen bed, twin daybed and twin trundle, and its own en suite bath. There is a second larger laundry area on the main floor, and a linen cupboard with extra sheets and towels, including beach towels. Recent upgrades include: high speed wireless internet, with boosters to make sure the entire house is covered; state-of-the-art reverse osmosis water filtration system for great drinking water; tankless water heater for endless on-demand hot water - no need to fight over who gets to shower first because the hot water never runs out! PLEASE absolutely no pets and no smoking; no events or large gatherings, other than those of you staying at the house. PLEASE no more than 12 adults, 16 people total.

Great location to wonderful downtown Lake City. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. The home was beautiful , clean and spacious enough for us as a family to gather together comfortably and celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Our pastors had an amazing and restful time away. The home was beyond their expectations, and they all came back adamant that they would book this again for another pastors' retreat or bring their ministry teams here for other retreats in a heartbeat.
The home was clean, and the beds were very comfortable; everyone slept quite well. It truly was a fantastic stay!

Each year our group of 8 ladies takes a long fall weekend to renew our friendships, and share stories of our recent travel adventures or family events. It is a treasured time even when the weather is not good for being outdoors. This year was wet, windy & cold, but we stayed cozy by the fireplace with a glass of wine and good food. We also discovered Heidi's Huggamug Coffee Shop...BONUS!! We would come again and definitely recommend this spacious home to all.

10 family members from various states came together in Lake City for four days. Everyone had a great time. The location of Chestnut House is great.

This house had a great location, wonderful view of the lake, close enough for walking to shops, marina, and of course along the lake. It was spacious so that we could spread out. There was a long table for plenty of seating for meals and comfortable sitting areas to gather indoors and outside.
We found everything we needed. The owner was readily available by phone to quickly respond to a concern.
For a group of women friends celebrating high school friendships and our 80th birthdays this house was what was needed.
A big consideration was the five beds and baths on the main floor. The steps to the second floor are a bit steep and could be a challenge to some but there were enough of us that are still agile enough that this was not a problem for our group.
The balcony off a second floor bedroom was a plus for quiet enjoyment of a view of the lake, boaters, eagles, pelicans, and for some the sunrise.

I’ve been to this place a couple different times with my in laws but this time with my siblings. We all had a great time plus sitting around the fire table in front of the lake was my favorite along with playing games on that big long table. Such fun!!

Great vacation home and location! Check in and out process was easy! Beautiful views. Front patio is a great place for people watching, catching up, and reconnecting. Highly recommend this home for larger groups!

Perfect location for family with small kids. Playground, splash pad and beach right across the street. Spacious home with room for 7 littles and 8 adults to spread out. Loved spread out sleeping areas and fenced in yard. Only suggestion would be blackout curtains. Rooms were very bright in morning and kids were up early. Will be back.

The bedrooms and beds were good but because it was Water Skiing weekend, the bands right across the street played until midnight making it difficult for the young kids to get to sleep which made it difficult the next day with tired kids. Adults had difficulty sleeping as well. If not for it being Water ski weekend, I would have given this place 5 stars for all categories. In the future, it might be mentioned to people that this is a noisy weekend.

Wonderful view of lake and just across the street from park. Home had ample room for us (9 adults) , nice to have 4 bathrooms. Home was clean and was supplied with everything. Would recommend to anyone with large group!

Group of golfing buddies in town to play The Jewel and Lake City CC. Fantastic location with Huggamug right across the street, don't miss out on that gem, great coffee and breakfast option. Lake Pepin and a nice beach to relax and unwind also across the street. Would definitely make a return trip!

Spacious, clean, with every amenity. Beds were comfortable, plenty of linens, lots of room to spread out. Location across from the lake and close to a coffee shop was a real plus. Only one minor complaint - the lamps in the bedrooms need bulbs with higher wattage - reading in bed was difficult. We would definitely stay here again!

Our group of ladies had a fabulous stay and we'll definitely be coming back. The house was clean and suited our needs perfectly! Highly recommend a trip over to Villa Belleeza Winery on Pepin! It will not disappoint. All around 5 stars for our stay!

The location is very nice, on Lake Pepin...watched dozens of eagles in trees and on remaining ice while eating breakfast. Large kitchen table allowed everyone (14 total) to eat together and enjoy the view. Beds were very comfortable and well placed in the rooms to accommodate our four different family units.

This was the perfect space for a winter weekend getaway! The house is very spacious, clean, well-stocked and a great location. We enjoyed the group gathering spaces but could easily get away in the many bedrooms. The gas fireplace was appreciated and set a nice ambiance for long talks. I was very impressed by the cleanliness (not always the case). The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The location was very walkable and we enjoyed the view. Thank you for sharing your house with us!

We had a great experience at this Lake Pepin property! We were a family group of 6 adults and 3 kids spending some holiday time together. We were especially appreciative of the well-stocked kitchen with extra spices and sharp knives! Highly recommend.

A spacious home with beautiful views and wonderful hosts. We had great another (3rd) year of being together and enjoying the chestnut house. The large table table is perfect for playing games while the kids enjoy making forts in the reading nook! Everyone enjoyed the views and eagles right outside the windows. Comfy beds and plenty of blankets/linens/pillows for everyone.

This is the 2nd time we rented the Chestnut House and we can’t wait to rent again. There is so much room for everyone to sprawl out. The couches and beds are comfortable and the dining room table is huge! The floors upstairs are a bit creaky so light sleepers should be upstairs. See you again in 2023

We had a great time in Lake City with this convenient location and spacious accommodations. Super close to the walking path and nearby shops in downtown. We loved how simple to check-out process was. No long list of chores to complete before heading back home! The parking situation was a little tricky with only room for 3 vehicles, so part of our group had to park a block away.

Great Lake City location with a beautiful view of Lake Pepin and the Marina. Very clean & cozy, with comfy sofas and leather chairs for gathering in the great room with gas fireplace. Two bedrooms on the main floor helped accommodate those no longer good with climbing the stairs, while lugging a suitcase. Everyone slept well on comfortable mattresses and with warm bedding. The kitchen was very well stocked. On arrival, I enjoyed a walk along the lake and an evening to myself. The next morning was filled with baking muffins and Apple Crisp, while enjoying the beautiful views from the kitchen. My long-time college friends arrived in time for lunch of homemade Chicken Noodle soup and salad, which we enjoyed at the long dining table. With 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, everyone enjoyed having their own space. The HuggaMug Cafe is just kitty corner from the House, so coffee and breakfast was easily available. Two Quilt shops, a Clothing ReSale shop, 2 local bars, a liquor store, and the Fresh Market Grocery were all within walking distance from the house.
By driving in a large loop, we enjoyed exploring Red Wing Pottery Museum, and the Maiden Rock Winery & Cidery. Next, a stop at Stockholm Pie Shop & Deli for great sandwiches and fat slices of Bumbleberry Pie were enjoyed. We explored fairly new Stockholm shops: Iris & Oak, and Scandihoo (a Nordic Style shop with a kick) and stopped at the Nelson Creamery for cheese and wine on our way back to the Minnesota side. We stopped at the Wabasha's National Eagle Center, but failed to allow enough time. (try to arrive before 1:00 pm). Making Lake City our annual gathering spot is definitely under discussion for next year, since 5 Roomies traveled from various cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and we all enjoyed the accommodations and the fun we had together in this beautiful VRBO home. Perfect for groups or extended family, since several rooms have extra beds. Loved our stay, and I could picture myself in the kitchen, baking Christmas Cookies, while snow fell across that enchanting view.

We found the perfect place to stay for our son's wedding , we are a large family and this house had large rooms and comfortable beds. The view was amazing we hated to leave. Would strongly recommend this house.

A dozen college friends (all turning 79 this year!) enjoyed our VRBO with its long dining table & plenty of room to spend long hours talking and "hanging out." There were enough bedrooms & bathrooms on the ground floor to accommodate those with mobility issues. Red Wing & Stockholm (WI) were within easy driving distance. We recommend this house and its location.
