Garden house from the 15th century near the Ponte Vecchio
About this condo rental
Located in Florence, this attractive condo for $246 per night is a great choice for your next break. Just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, on the “Oltrarno” side of the historic center of Florence, this lovely and elegant home provides all of the comforts of the modern world combined with the rich history of the 15th Century. This home used to be the 'Forni Reali' or royal bakery serving the Medici and later the Italian royal family when they occupied the Palazzo Pitti. It comprises 130 square meters (approx. 1,399 sq. ft), and has 3 bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a large living room and fully-equipped modern kitchen, small study and additional half bath. The apartment sleeps 6-8 people, and wraps around a lovely courtyard garden adorned with flowers, fountain and goldfish. Decorated both for comfort and charm, the home contains an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture. The apartment has its own separate entrance on the ground floor, only one step up from the street, and is equipped with all necessary amenities, including central heat and air conditioning, satellite t.v. and DVD/VCR player, Internet connection, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, and washing machine. One of the owners is an artist who splits his time between Florence and New York City, and many of his original artworks are exhibited in the home, including large oil paintings in the living room, and frescoes in the bedroom. The apartment is located on a pedestrian-only street just off a charming piazza. There you will find a famous restaurant and delightful cafe. Just 3-4 minutes away you will find the Ponte Vecchio, and you can walk to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria in 5-10 minutes. A parking garage is located 1 minute away, and local bus stops servicing all parts of the city are also just minutes away. Keywords: Apartment

Genta was an outstanding host!
1.0
I was apprehensive when the house manager advised that no two appliances could be plugged in at same time or else power circuit would trip. We had No heat for one entire night, Partial heat one night. Circuit tripped all power 6 or 7 times one evening. During entire stay (3 nights) we had no hot water ergo no showers, no clean dishes, etc. Sink in one bath leaked flooding the floor.
Genta, the house manger did her best bringing in plumbers and an electrician to try to fix problems to no avail.
THIS APARTMENT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE FOR RENT BY THE OWNER. One of our party came down with a cold which was aggravated by lack of heat. The apartment problems took most of the joy out of our family visit to Florence. As I selected thIs
VRBO apartment it was certainly personally embarrassing.

Everything we needed for a 5 day visit. Quiet location, convenient to everything.

We loved our ancient 15th century adventure! The location was perfect! Lots of room for all is us. Lots of action .. it felt like we were part of the village! Piazza Della Passera was a perfect fit for us. There is no better host then Genta! She managed all our needs. Don’t think twice! Say Yes!!

This apartment is in a fabulous location.
The property description doesn’t adequately address some peculiarities in the bedroom arrangements.
As the description says it has 3 bedrooms. To access one bedroom it is necessary to walk outdoors, across the courtyard. The second bedroom is accessed either by walking through the Primary bedroom or across the outdoor courtyard. Walking across the courtyard is not problematic unless it’s raining, which happened during our stay. We had a glitch with the check in process: the property manager had emailed the code to access the key. However, we had not received that email by the time we left for our trip. (Belatedly, I discovered it in my “trash”.) We had contacted the property owner to let him know a couple days in advance of our trip, but did not get a response. We contacted the property owner again through VRBO, and telephoned him leaving a message the day before our arrival but received no response. he did not respond until we were standing on the street outside the apartment, when we telephoned him. Fortunately, he answered our call and was able to give us the code to access the key and we were able to get into the apartment. Once that ordeal had passed, everything else fell into place.

Pros-Prime location in Santo Spirito within walking distance of all Florence has to offer. Fascinating older building split into "mini-apartments" with a connecting central courtyard. Aircon worked well during hot Florence days (90's). Plenty of towels, sheets, and other essentials provided.
Cons-Steep step upon entry could be a challenging for the elderly or disabled. If arriving by car, parking is necessary and expensive, and you can't drop off luggage before parking (streets are too narrow and busy with pedestrians and cars) so you have to wheel it a few blocks. You could look through the material covering the door of one of the bedrooms when the lights were on, limiting privacy.

We loved our stay. We enjoyed the closeness of the attractions.
We would recommend this to anyone

I loved the place. The fact that is set up in an old bakery is amazing. Loved the oven, added so much character to the house. Also, everything was clean, and in working order. Location is amazing, in the middle if everything. I know my next Florence vacation willl be scheduled when the house is available.

This place is wonderful. So close to everything. Local restaurants and gelato place on the corner out of this world. The place was spacious and clean. I would give this an A plus. Worth the money. There were 3 couples and we each had our own room with a bathroom.

Our family of 7 had a magnificent time staying at Via Toscanella. I was spacious and steeped us in the vibrations of the 15th century. Genta was wonderful. Certain little things (patio chairs, living room couch were a bit shabby).
We were also a little disappointed (particularly our 5 year old granddaughter) that the little water pond on the patio did not work. However, we would go back in a minute because we loved it!

I have stayed now several times at this property. It is perfect. The square is lovely with great restaurants and the best gelateria in Firenze! The kitchen is ready for an easy breakfast or elaborate dinner. The location is perfect for an easy walk to literally everything. This is absolutely the best place to stay for your visit to this incredible city and region!

A comfortable apartment for our stay in Florence. Very good location. Worked well for our large (7 people, 3 generations) group. Clean, though some mildew in one bathroom. Host's representative was very helpful.

Very good design apartment with few steps for three groups of adult family/friends with a bath attached to each bedroom, a large common area and private outdoor patio. We could not be happier with the service of the local hostess who set us up with a private driver for a wine day in Tuscany and suggested her favorite bakery. The apartment is just steps away from great places for your morning espresso, lunch panini, apertivo, and evening meal. If you want to ‘live like a local’ while in Florence, stay in this neighborhood.

Such a unique property in an amazing little neighborhood. Best restaurants, cafes, and Gelato nearby. Short walk to everything. Arkan and Gentiana were helpful with reservations and recommendations. Great communication. Would stay here again on a future trip without hesitation.

This suited our family of six adults very well. The unit was quiet, well-situated and, with three plus bathrooms, a bonus for three couples. a minor drawback is that the bed in the third bedroom is not really big enough for two adults for a longer stay.

Convenient location. Owner was very responsive. Local contact, Genta, was extremely helpful. Space was big with 3 bedrooms. Nice accommodations for separate couples. We had a very nice stay.

The house was in a great location. Close enough to walk across the bridge to Florence. The restaurants, bar, and coffee shop near the house were all great. I would highly recommend this property. We would also stay again when we are in Florence. Thank you.

This is an attractive 3 bedroom/bath apartment in a fantastic neighborhood. This first floor unit makes you feel part of the neighborhood when you step out the door. Also easy walk across Ponte Vecchio to downtown attractions. A great find.

The apartment at Santo Spirito couldn’t be better situated, walking distance to everything. The interior aesthetic is spacious, warm, and inviting. Truly the generous space makes this a rare find in a universe where temporary rentals often barely contain more than one room and a bathroom! You’ve got enough room for many more than advertised on the property description. All in all, even when we had a minor maintenance issue that the property manager resolved as soon as we brought it to her attention, this place is 5 stars! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Amazing unit in a great location! The owner was very flexible and accommodating to our needs. The unit is really big and it is on one of the best streets in Florence. Would definitely stay here again! Also highly recommend the Florence tour by Genta - ask about it once you book…

We loved our stay at Santo Spirito. Genta was communicative and helpful, very friendly when showing us around the house. The house is built around a private courtyard, accessible only to us. Two bedrooms in the main bit, then the other room (with en-suite) was across the courtyard. It worked perfectly for our group as the couple without children had a nice, quiet spot to themselves! The location is phenomenal, we took advantage of the bar two doors down selling cocktails for €4,5...so convenient! The nearby grocery store that Genta pointed us towards was very fair priced and had everything we needed. Overall we were so happy with our stay and have already recommended it to friends who are traveling to Florence later in the year. We would definitely stay there again.

This apartment has wonderful history and great charm. The location is easy walking distance to all the major sights, and you are just far enough to feel part of the community. The owner and co-host are in constant communication from beginning to end. You never have to worry about any issue. We would stay here again.

Our visit was enhanced by the property. Walk out the front door and you are on your way to the beauty of Florence! Genta, the property manager, was soooo helpful to get us to the town center to meet up with our tour and in assisting us with car service.
We hope to be back to visit beautiful Florence again!!

We very much enjoyed our stay. Genta was very helpful and friendly. Everything was a short walk from the apartment. The apartment had a great old world feel to it, but was very comfortable and renovated. There was plenty of space for our family of five. The adjacent cafe and eateries provided a very festive environment. We would stay here again if we return to Florence. Thank you for all the wonderful memories!

Location of this property was most excellent. And generally the space was very good The common living room area with kitchen and dining was great. Overall the place was tidy but there was a musty smell due to some black mold on some of the walls. they did clean things right away which helped.

Live like a local in a neighborhood with restaurants, bars, cafes, laundromat, and grocery stores - all just 2 blocks from the Ponte Vecchio. The property is old and has been through many uses, but has all that you need. Gentiana was very helpful and responsive

This apartment is so unique and wonderful. The location is out of the tourist area, but still close enough. The few restaurants, bars and gelato that are right outside your door let’s you see how the locals live.

Really great location to enjoy the slightly less touristy side of Florence while still being only a stone’s throw from the centre. Loved getting to know the various establishments on the square. Apartment was quiet and comfy for five.

Excellent Location
Perfect location right next to the Vecchio Bridge, gelato on the corner with restaurants and shopping. The check in process with Gentiana was wonderful, she was very helpful in providing help with restaurants and transportation. Highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfect location!
This is a lovely apartment and worked for myself, two adult sons and partners. The two main bedrooms in the main part are spacious and the other in the annex is fine. All have doors onto the patio area. The sitting room inside is comfortable. I would not want to do any cooking in the kitchen - but hey, who wants to cook when you are in Italy?!! The best bit was the cafe that is a few paces outside the front door (great coffee and croissant), the bar two doors down (great spritzes) and the gelato shop on the piazza. It made for a great location and we really enjoyed staying on that side of the river - a bit quieter and away from the worst of the crowds. Great restaurant recommendations from Genta - great vegetarian restaurant (La Pepiniere) 10 mins walk away. Also great osteria on Piazza Santo Spirito (last one on right hand side looking away from the church).

The Ultimate Italian Experience
I can not say enough positives about this property. It is an ideal location , you can walk to everything. It is well equipped, everything you need for cooking and washing. The beds are very comfortable . BUT what really sets this place apart is the unique interior and the welcome you receive when you arrive! You will feel like a guest rather than a renter.

Perfect location for our family. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, etc near by. Liked staying on this side of river.

Great location and would love to go back again. It’s only a few short blocks from the Arno, Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace and easy to walk to almost all other sites in the center of Florence. Step back into Renaissance Italy from a ground floor apartment on a lively old street with restaurants, pizza, and gelato. Some street noise in the front of the apartment but had lots of room and an interior court yard. Alkan and Genta were very responsive.

This apartment was better than I anticipated. The amount of space was fantastic. I felt like the pictures, while accurately showing the property, did not convey the spaciousness of the place. It was a VERY pleasant up-side bonus for our family.
The rooms are large enough for our family of 4 to enjoy. The beds were very comfortable. The 3+ bathrooms were great as well.
The location of this apartment is the hidden gem. It is in a beautiful neighborhood that is a 2 minute walk from the river. There are all types of shops and restaurants within a stone's throw of it. Some of the "best gelato in Florence" is a 15 second walk out the front door.
I would highly recommend this apartment. The apartment owner is an artist that has several of his pieces in the unit. Pretty talented fella. It was fun to have those images to see.

We enjoyed our trip to Florence and the Garden House. The house was well supplied and Genta was wonderful. She was very responsive and had everything we could possibly want. The only issue we ran into was mosquitoes in Florence, but Genta was quick to supply some mosquito control. Our stay in Paris for 5 days after Florence did not compare to the "love" and care given by Genta! We highly recommend this location and Genta deserves the credit for this great review.
