About this house rental

Located in Kittery Point, this attractive house for $171 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Beautiful and private waterfront home on a tidal creek on Gerrish Island in Kittery Point, ME. Our back deck overlooks a sloping yard to the creek. We are minutes away from many beaches, wonderful restaurants, shopping, ropes course and lobster! This is a beautiful and cozy cape house overlooking a sloping lawn to a tidal creek. Gorgeous every season, including autumn leaf peeping time! This is my home part time, and has been my family home, so it is set up with special thought for guests, and also has personal items in it. Please treat the space with care. The master bedroom and bathroom and laundry are on the first floor. The kitchen has new appliances. It is fully stocked with cooking ware, table ware, cloth napkin and towels. You will need to bring your own paper products and cleaning supplies. The kitchen opens to the dining room, which seats six. The dining room is casual, with older furniture. From the dining room, which has large sliding glass doors to the back deck (two levels). The living room is comfortable and casual, as well. There is a new futon which folds out into a double bed. There is a relatively small flat screen TV in the living room. It is a great space for family and friends to gather. The second floor looks down on the dining room. One of the rooms is open in this space, with day bed and trundle, as well as book shelves stocked with children's books and novels. The other two rooms each have a single bed, one with a TV with built in DVD and VCR (no cable upstairs). This is a cape house, so the ceilings are slanted, but there is plenty of room for standing and storage. Getting around You will probably want a car to get into town, unless you are avid cyclists. However, two local beaches are in short biking distance, and there is tidal creek access in our back yard. Fort Foster and Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier are less than a mile away, so walking and biking are a wonderful option. See further detailed information about beaches, parks, and other activities below: BEACHES and PARKS Fort Foster- This is a wonderful park for children, adults, families, individuals. There are beaches, paths, playgrounds, picnic areas, forts to climb, a long pier, and beautiful views. The gate to the fort is 0.85 miles away. Take a left out our driveway, a right onto Pocahontas, and drive straight. The gate usually opens at 10:00 am, sometimes earlier in the summer and on weekends. Before this, you can usually park outside the gate and walk in to the beaches. The walk is about 1/3 a mile. Or you can drive in during park hours. The cost is $10 per car, or $5 per person ($1 per child) walking or biking (these rates may not be accurate, but close). Sea Point Beach and Crescent Beach - 1.7 miles to the parking lot, although non-residents park 0.1 - 0.2 closer (parking areas are marked, or park on the side of the road before that). These are two adjacent beaches which are generally quiet, with mild surf, very soft sand, and a grassy and rocky walking area at the point where the two beaches meet. A great bike ride (a couple of gradual and persistent hills). No costs for this beach, no public facilities. York Beach - Long Sands and Short Sands - Great spot for families. Large beaches, many people, more surf, life guards, food, souvenir shops, restaurants. Nubble Light House is in between the two beaches and worth the trip. Right near the light house is Dunne’s Ice Cream (used to be the famous Brown’s Ice Cream). Short Sands is just beyond Long Sands, and also has a playground, basketball nets, more parking, home made salt water taffy made before your very eyes, and the Arcade and Bowling Alley. Fort McLary - another park at the site of a former WWI military fort. This Park, about two miles on the left if you head back toward Kittery Circle on 103, is smaller. There are a couple of areas to climb and beautiful views, but no easy beach access. Odiorne State Park and Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH (just south of Portsmouth on rte 1A) are worth a visit, especially if you have interested children. EXPLORE PORTSMOUTH - Great restaurants and shopping, but also a wide selection of entertainment, including plays, live music, theater and music in the Prescott Park. Look into (URL HIDDEN) for a lot more information. KITTERY OUTLETS - If you want to shop, take a left out of our driveway, a left onto Pocahontas, a left over the bridge, a left onto Chauncey Creek Rd, a left onto 103, and then take a right onto Haley Rd, just across from the gas station (and right before the fire station). Stay on that windy road for about 3 miles until you reach a light, which is route one. Most of the shopping is to your right.
