Undoubtedly a 5 star location with breathtaking views and sunsets to die for. We are seasoned self-caterers and know Antigua well and chose this house for its proximity to great beaches on the west coast and south east corner of the island. The house is located on the headland between Carlisle Bay and Curtain Bluff resorts in Old Road, and around a 15 min drive from Epicurean supermarket at Jolly Harbour. We weren’t provided with any check in info - even directions - prior to our arrival, meaning I had to message the owner when we landed and then given contact details for the manager. The house is clean, light, and spacious with excellent air conditioning. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (toilet & shower, no baths). The kitchen is equipped with 6 ring gas hob/oven (needs matches to light it), a kettle, toaster, microwave, a large fridge with a good sized freezer compartment, and a filter coffee machine. There is also a large washing machine in the utility room and clothes lines immediately outside the back door to dry clothes. A 4WD vehicle is essential for a stay. The track to the house from the road is literally a rubble dirt track and has a very steep incline at the start of it which requires very confident driving ability to navigate, especially when driving up it. The access road then straightens and smooths out as you approach the property. The drive of the property is another steep incline. All in all a great property but access is challenging.

The night before we were to get on an airplane at 5:00 in the morning we received an email that our reservation was cancelled. I had tried to communicate with the owner several times to get check in information several days before and got no response. I would not book this property. We contacted a local management company and were able to secure a replacement unit.

Even though our stay was shortened by two days due to hurricane Tammy, our time at Villa Olivette was wonderful. The house was dated, yet probably one of most charming house we ever experienced for a vacation. The views were second to none. You have a fabulous sunrise each morning and a spectacular sunset from the porch and balconies. You have your “own” private bay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The property manager Lenard was one of best parts of this rental. He was a class act with his guidance and welcome. Our suggestion is that you either rent a solid quality car such as a jeep or 4 wheel drive to navigate the driveway and steep hill leading to the house. We suffered a flat tire exiting the hill. We ended up paying for drivers to escort us to our trips around the island. It was a first driving on the left side of the road. Our sincere suggestion is to save your money on a car rental and use it instead for drivers. Lenard had connections with local and trustworthy drivers. There are nice beaches within walking distance. We suggest you walk to Gina’s shack which is less than a 10 minute walk for her fresh juices. Her bbq chicken is a delicious snack. The locals are nice and friendly, yet you be the first to say hello. I would definitely come back. The house and its location on the hill was a gem. Remote and private. You would not be disappointed. Sam and Lynn Losorelli Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Sam

We had two beautiful weeks at Villa Olivette! The villa is perfectly located in a calm neighborhood and really not far from some of the most beautiful beaches we’ve seen in our life. We had a car to travel around the island but we were always happy to comme back at the Villa at the end of the day to relax and enjoy the sunset. The Villa is really spacious and we really enjoyed the balcony facing the ocean every morning and every evening. Lenard was so kind, thoughtful and helpful during our stay. He really is a nice guy and was a big part of the success of our trip, my boyfriend really enjoyed talking weather with him! Overall we recommend this place 100% and hope to be back some day! :)

The place was beautiful and fully equipped with everything needed for a home from home stay! The location was fabulous with views that were simply stunning. The property manager was friendly, professionally, courteous & extremely helpful - he went over & above to ensure our stay was perfect. The only reason I’ve given 4 stars for location is because of the access road, slightly difficult to navigate, especially in the dark. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

My wife, 16 month old son (and for a week in the middle, my wife's uncle and aunt) very much enjoyed our 15 days at Old Road. Arriving in the rain and dark, finding the driveway was our second challenge, after navigating the unlit forest road from the airport in our hired Jeep! To be fair, our family guests had a worse time of it with their taxi driver who flatly refused to come down the driveway which was poor form and easily navigable. Luckily, extremely friendly locals saved us and the property manager saved the taxi driver! We received a very friendly welcome from the property manager who maintained excellent communications throughout our stay. The property is a colonial style and just what we wanted. We weren't looking for a westernized property and the villa had all the charm. Views from all the windows and there was always something happening out to sea with boats mooring and often visiting the two exclusive resorts to either side of our promontory. If you want isolation - you got it. If you want excellent beaches around 10-15 minutes walk away - you got it If you want to be immersed in Old Road culture at their stalls and home bars in 5 or so minutes - you got it. Other than that, a Jeep (and I recommend something capable if just for the more than occasional massive potholes) will get you anywhere on the island in less than an hour. We drove every inch of Antigua whilst we were there. Had a fabulous burger at a joint near English Harbour with Timothy Dalton.

I stayed for one week in July with my husband and another couple. Claudine and Lenard are wonderful hosts, making sure we had everything we need and checking in on us during our stay. The views from the balcony are breathtaking and we really enjoyed sitting out there whenever we were at the house. The upstairs beds are on the firm side. There is a dirt road that leads to the property. Part of the dirt road is steep and our FWD vehicle struggled to make it out unless the tires were in exactly the right spot on the road. Highly suggest renting an AWD/4WD vehicle (we rented an SUV but it ended up not being AWD).

Fabulous location with beautiful, stunning sea vista. Lenard was so helpful and kind, can't thank him enough. Antiguan people are some of the friendliest, warm-hearted people our family has met - they have a unique charm and sensibility that makes us want to return to this sun-kissed land. The house is amazing and we would love to return here one day, we had a relaxing holiday. Food: we had some marvelous meals at Gina's cook shop - an easy 10 minute walk from the house. Her breakfast and juices was outstanding! We also had some of the best (and very reasonably priced) Jerk chicken at The Countryside Jerk & BBQ Centre (about a 15 minute drive from the house on the Jonas Road on the inland route to St. John's). Also special mention to Roti King in St. John's. The folks selling homemade cakes from just a folding table beside Gina's had the BEST rum cake we've ever had! Beaches - what can I say? All stunning. Favourite probably Galleon beach as we were regularly able to snorkel with turtles - amazing, gentle creatures (around more or less unchanged for 250 million years). Very minor point - My wife says it might be an idea to overhaul the number of plates, bowls, sharp knives etc. We like to cook and this might be an area for a tiny bit of love and care - but as I say, minor and di not detract from this incredibly holiday - our sincere thanks to Judith, Claudine and Lenard, See you (hopefully) in the next couple of years!
