About this house rental

Situated in Dandridge, this charming house for $895 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This is a roomy, stunningly beautiful log home on a 40 acre estate on the shores of Douglas Lake. It is the main house for the estate, and there is a small house that is also available for short term rentals. If interested, inquire about renting both houses at the same time for a fantastic stay! The VRBO number for the other property is #1493033 if you would like to check it out. Those are the only two homes on the estate. Each house has a private dock in separate coves of the lake. Check out the Google location function and description for more about the property. This is not your average rental place. It is a luxury home built specifically as the flagship home for Hearthstone Inc., the premier log & timber home manufacturing company in the country. It was featured in Log Home Living in July 2001. Look around a bit and you'll find a great article about it. The wonderful feature about this property is that, despite the perfect location, it feels as if you are off in a peaceful world by yourself. The lodge itself is at the end of a peninsula with a half mile driveway away from the nearest road and is surrounded by a 28,000 acre lake. There is no other piece of rental or residential property near here to compare in terms of beauty, location, activities, ease of access to interstates, and many attractions - without sacrificing peace, quiet, tranquility, and privacy. Douglas Lake is a premier destination recreational and fishing lake with over 28,000 acres and more than 500 miles of shore line that spans over 30 miles long across multiple counties. However, Douglas is still quiet, relaxing place to be and provides good fun for all ages! This home is located less than a mile from Dandridge, a charming, historical town that is credited with being the 2nd oldest town in Tennessee. The Point Marina and Restaurant is roughly a quarter mile away and offers dinner with impeccable views. Just 3 miles away, Exit 417 off of I-40 also offers additional places to eat. We are located about 30-50 minutes to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge tourist attractions or the Great Smoky Mountains, where there is family fun for every type of adventure. Knoxville is 30 miles away and features great restaurants and shopping locations. Asheville, NC, is about 85 miles away if you are looking for a short day trip during your stay. Hot Springs, NC, is about 40 miles away and offers a resort and spa with real hot spring tubs. This home is at a premier location on Douglas Lake with easy access to everything in the region. That is, IF you ever want to leave the property! On the property, there is a private dock for each of the two homes located in separate coves. A 26' Tri-toon pontoon boat with a 150 hp four-stroke motor is available for rent, and there are kayaks and paddleboats around for free. We have horses, but they are more suitable for admiring and petting than riding. They are very gentle, but have not been ridden much the past couple years. They love the attention when they're not grazing on the grass around the property. There are also a couple of trails for hiking as well as a campsite on the property that has a fire ring, picnic table, and a place for a tent or two. There is a master suite (bed and bath) on the first floor, a fully-equipped chef-level kitchen, large dining room, a half-bath, and a living room with a fireplace on the first floor. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms. The first features a queen bed and two twin-size bunk beds, as well as two hammocks in the loft above the room. The loft is accessible via a real climbing tree, which is great for adventurous kids! The remaining two rooms feature queen beds. A ladder's climb will arrive you at the 5th and final bedroom, which sits up in a lofted area on the West wing of the house and features a full-sized bed. There are two full bathrooms on the second floor, as well as a fully-equipped laundry room and upstairs common area. As previously mentioned, there are two lofts on the third level. One is above and a part of the bunk East bedroom, while the other is a separate bedroom accessible by a "ship's ladder" and has a full-size bed. That arrangement allows for 12 people, but can accommodate up to 14 with high-quality memory foam floor mattresses. Because extra bed space will have to be used, there is an additional charge for each person over 12 guests. There are many rental log cabins in this area, but this one is noticeably different from the rest due to the immaculate construction, beautiful property, and ideal location. Your visit here will be a very, very different experience from any other rental in this area. This is a true reproduction of the cabins that were built in this area 200 years ago, but with all the modern conveniences and 40 acres of private property. This cabin actually is a home. It was not built as a rental cabin, and you can tell the difference.

This is our 4th time staying at this property. It is well worth the drive from Ohio. One of my all time favorite places to stay. Randy is super helpful and a genuine nice person. Beautiful for hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing and enjoying all the animals. Dogs, horses, mules and a cat are on property and my family loves them. The house itself is secluded and peaceful. Amazing views of lake Douglas and has a fire pit, smoker and grill. House is always clean and has all the amenities you could wish for. We had a party of 9 ranging in age from 13 to 50 plus and plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. Can not say enough good things about Randy and this property. Love it.

Property was great for our family of 10. 6 adults and 4 kids felt very comfortable in the home, and could definitely support a few more kids as well. Owner was great in terms of being attentive and responsive before and during our stay. Nothing negative to say about our stay. Option to rent a boat and enjoy the beautiful lake was great. Our next family lake vacation will be at this property.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. It had all of the amenities you could need like bed and bath linens including lake towels! It even had some amenities I didn’t know I need like heated toilet seats. Randy was kind enough to let us include our 4-legged family members in the family memories. (Although the house came with it’s own 4 outdoor dogs and a cat if you don’t have your own!) Our time there included a violent thunderstorm that uprooted many trees and left us without power for one afternoon/night. Randy was VERY responsive to make sure we were all ok and he and some of his help got a generator up and running in no time which powered the important things in the house like well water, water heater, refrigerator, and even some lights. And they cleared enough of the trees so that we could enjoy the patio again. The lake cove was very secluded and safe where we could float around, dive, swim, and kayak. Randy even helped us with his boat which we took out one evening to check out the rest of the lake. The area is beautiful and close to lots of activities including the Smokey Mountain National Park, Dollywood, Bushs Baked Beans, and Historic Dandridge. We recommend!

This property truly is blissful. This is our second stay on this property, but the first time at this house. Randy is great to communicate with and everything you need (and more) is available at the house. A few comments: - This property is not for young kids. It is all wood, with ladders, tree climbs, rope swings IN the house, so I would keep the little ones (under 8) at home. - Dogs. Randy has several dogs and they like to hang around the house. We personally loved it, and played fetch all day with the pups. - Steep walk to the lake. The steps to the lake can be steep toward the end and if they are a little wet, can be a little slippery. My mother (72) had a little difficulty getting down to and up from the dock since there was no handrail. - Access to local attractions. Conveniently located about 35-45 min from Pigeon Forge and an hour from the entrance to the Smokey Mountain National Park. This was close enough for us, particularly since it was so beautiful and quiet at Douglas Lake. We will likely be back, whether it is just my family of 4 or our entire family of 13. Thanks again for a fantastic stay!

Thank you Randy for opening up your home to our family and friends and talking with us. We rented both the house and cabin and both were absolutely beautiful. The house was well stocked with plenty of kitchen items that we used, bathroom towels and supplies, lake towels and plenty of seating for our group. The back patio was fantastic and we used the built-in smoker and fire pit. We loved having the dogs around and the kids really enjoyed playing with them down at the lake, especially Shine who would dive for rocks! Having the dock and private cove area made for a very peaceful week on the lake. The kayaks that were available for us to use were very nice and added some more extra fun to our trip! We have been to the Smokey's three times and this by far, was our favorite place to stay! Thanks again for a wonderful week and we hope some day to return!

Well maintained and a lot to do on the property as well as local area. Only caution, there is significant hiking down to dock and back up. I’m a retiree using a cane so I just needed to take my time. Rest of family wasn’t even slowed.
