Nestled in Tahoe City, this charming house for $374 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. **PETS PROHIBITED** Escape to the mountains with your family or friends and make Woodland Retreat your new home-away-from-home! Private setting minutes away from Tahoe City, at the end of a cul-de-sac, on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. Beautiful old-growth forest surrounds the home. Original home built in the 70's with new addition completed in 2007. Lowest level features 2 new bedrooms and full bath plus family room with flat screen TV, great for kids! One bedroom with California King bed, flat screen TV, and sliding doors out to a lower balcony. 2nd bedroom with bunked twin beds and stand-alone twin bed, plus sliding doors to the lower balcony. Shared full bath off family room plus a powder room and laundry room on the same floor. Up to the main floor, living area with plush leather couch and love-seat, HD flat screen TV with YouTube TV, Roku and Netflix, Swedish fireplace, dining table for 8-10, great Trex deck with gas BBQ and distant peek-of-lake views. Newly renovated kitchen, fully functional and scenic woodsy view through the window. High-speed internet is available in the whole house. Bedroom on the main floor with full bed and shared bath in the hall. Top level accessed by open stairs with metal railing, offers two more bedrooms: front room with California King Bed; back bedroom with two full beds. Shared bath in the hall. This is house is ideally located close to Tahoe City, skiing, biking trails and within walking distance to restaurants. Come to Woodland Retreat and make wonderful memories! Sorry, the garage is not available. PARKING IS LIMITED TO 2 LARGE OR 3 SMALL CARS IN THE DRIVEWAY. THERE IS NO ON-STREET PARKING AT ANY TIME OF YEAR. Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 - Downstairs, King Bed Bedroom 2 - Downstairs, Twin Bunk Bed and a Twin Bed Bedroom 3 - Upstairs Main Level, Full Bed Bedroom 4 - Upstairs 3rd Level, King Bed Bedroom 5 - Upstairs 3rd Level, 2 Full Beds Must be at least 25 years old to rent. Our properties do not have air conditioning. BBQs are not provided during winter months (November to Memorial Day) CHAINS OR SNOW TIRES ARE OFTEN REQUIRED IN WINTER. Beds and linens are very comfortable. Kitchen is well-equipped. Convenient location. Excellent deck. Two family rooms. Overall this is an excellent vacation house. A few negatives: Steps going to top floor are a bit slippery and wouldn’t recommend for the elderly. Internet is spotty. Visited in summer and top floor bedrooms got quite warm during the day.

We visited Lake Tahoe with our family from the Netherlands and the house was perfect for a family of 10. Grandma stayed on the main floor and one family was upstairs while the other was downstairs. The main family room was great for shared meals. Check-in process was easy and very clear. The house is located close to Lake Tahoe and we loved Meeks Bay. Would definitely recommend if staying with a large family again.

When we got into the house, there was no hand soap or dish soap at the kitchen sink. The built-in soap pump at the sink didn't work, and we found that it had a long tube that went into an empty bottle under the sink. We ended up finding a stash of little dish soaps. The biggest gripe I have is that they left us a used, dirty, dish sponge. I've never been in a VRBO where a new, wrapped, dish sponge wasn't waiting at the ready. That $0.50 would have gone a long way with me.
My general feeling was that the house was masquerading as a motel. The little bottles of shampoo and conditioner gave it an awkward vibe, and it lack personality or a special touch.

We had a great time here. The house was clean and comfortable for our party of 7 kids (ages 4-20) and 4 adults. The location worked really well for us too.

The experience was good. Although we couldn't go out as planned for hiking, skiing, and visiting local restaurants, we has a good time stayed inside to play games, watch a few movies, and cook a few meals. The biggest challenge we have at this location is parking. Because we parked two cars on the driveway, the snow blocked the access due to the snow plow pushed the hard snow/ice to block the driveway behind the cars. We have to use a shovel to clear the snow but the shovel available is a low quality one. It could clear the powder snow but not the harden snow/ice pushed onto the driveway from street plowing. Luckily a neighbor let us borrow two good shovels. Overall, we couldn't ski and go out but we had a good time working together to clear the snow from the front of the house, around the cars, and on the driveway. A suggestion is to have two good shovels available so guests can efficiently clear the snow.

This is an awesome house for family or multiple couples gathering. Plenty of privacy with bedrooms spread out/on different floors with nice group zones: living/dining area, outdoor deck is spacious and well protected, a separate "play" room where kids could play or for work space, etc. Kitchen amenities exceeded our expectations--a whole pantry full of various appliances, spices, etc. Friendly neighborhood too, with easy parking and access to town and lake. Would rent again for sure!

We had some elderly relatives who live nearby who were going to visit us, and it's a good thing they didn't, because they never could have navigated the stairs. That's the one thing people looking for a rental should be aware of with this property.

Our fam of 6 adults and 2 little ones under 5 stayed here. Very spacious! But beware of lotsa stairs!
One concern - The room my adult daughter and I were sharing had two queen (?) beds in it.. only thing, is the room is A-frame and is not big enough to safely accommodate two beds.. the bed I was using is very close to the wall.. very first night, I got up in the dark and hit my forehead pretty hard on the thick wooden support beam .. still hurts a week later!
House also has electrical wiring issues., can’t use both electric outlets on both sides of kitchen sink w/o tripping a circuit.. and ceiling lights over dining table regularly flicker when dishwasher cycle kicks in.,
Heating not uniform either.. bedroom on the main floor near kitchen where thermostat is, gets exceedingly hot while bedrooms on other levels. (Even after we closed the register.)
On a good note- When we did need fo contact the property manager couple of times, they were very responsive and helpful,.. we dId in appreciate that!

Never stayed in Tahoe City before, and staying at this property made me want to come back for sure. I wish I could've stayed longer. The property was very clean and bigger than I thought. The location was pretty centralized to everything.

Between cancellations due to COVID during summer 2020 and then re-booking this year, they were nothing but fantastic and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend both the Woodland Retreat, as well as Hauserman, at any time again

Great multi-family house
This property met all our needs! We had family in from California, Texas and Michigan for our son's wedding at the Granlibakken resort. Not only was the location perfect, but everybody had plenty of space to gather and enjoy each other and comfortable beds / bathrooms for privacy. The kitchen, pantry and BBQ were amazing! We had a great time!
